My neighbour had a rescue dog who had been abused by its previous owner. After a couple of weeks my neighbour kept the poor little thing locked up in shed all day and all night. Perhaps these rescue places should follow up on adoptions more carefully, the RSPCA didn't want to know when I and my other neighbours rang them.

I still find it hard to fathom how people can be so heartless and cruel and it's not just the odd person it's many . What has gone wrong with being a civilized society , it's going backwards not forwards , we are supposed to be progressing not regressing .

Get your animals from a rescue centre. Problem solved.

Got my Lulu dog from the blue cross rescue centre..
I rescued her after she'd been in the system for a year. When i adopted her, she was roughly 1 year old.. She'd been found wondering the streets in London by the dog warden as a young one.
Spent a year in shelters, battersea, Swansea, the blue cross Tiverton where i got her from..
She's now a life loving 9 and a bit year old Staffie Collie cross.😊😁😁

Buy rescue 100%. They are checked by vets, you are vetted to make sure you are ready for the responsibility of owning a pet and also to better match you to the right animal for you. My cat was from cats protection and my dog is from battersea, both were the best decisions I have ever made. There are some super pets available from rescues, the more you get from them - the less are bought from puppy farm and unscrupulous breeders. ❤

I have two dogs. My oldest dog, Buddy, came from somewhere that I later found out, was basically a glorified puppy farm (I got him in 2015. Back then, I had no idea about puppy farms, otherwise I would never have gone near that place). I knew enough to ask to see the mother, but I was given an excuse ("She's asleep"). Again, had I known, I'd have walked away (NEVER accept an excuse. Classic ones are "She's out for a walk/she's at the vet/she's sleeping". I don't care, insist on seeing the mother, or walk away).

I worked in a pet shop in 1979. The shop bought puppies from a puppy farm in Wales.
One time the shop owner was very late in picking a tea chest of about four 6 - 8wk wk old pedigree puppies. The breeder left the tea chest in a lay by for hours without food or water. Poor pups were covered in faeces and urine also very thirsty and hungry. They all survived the ordeal.
Still nothing is done about these horrific places

Get your dogs from reputable breeders people who do not cage their dogs that have a one on one interaction with their dogs . Some rescue and shelters have pushed them to just go through breeders because they don’t allow some families to adopt due to living in the city or apt or whatever and charging 800-600 for a labradoodle and 300 adoption fees that should not be they should be waived so people would be willing to adopt a dog for free. Also pushing families to adopt aggressive breeds like pit bulls. Theres been so many attacks on adopters and families it’s the shelters and rescues to place safe animals anymore. If I want to buy a puppy I have the right to buy my puppies wherever I wish, you cannot tell me where I could or should purchase my dog my cat my home so focus on the dogs that are mistreated because I take care of my dogs . Why does the government allow puppy farms that’s where the problem is Theres reputable breeders who take such good care of their pets better conditions than many people take care of their kids

Why are SO many of the dogs in UK rehoming centres foreign??? 🤔 😕
Irish,Romanian, Spanish,Polish, I very recently got a dog from Dogs Trust, I'm Very happy, he's a great dog, and his Irish accent is barely detectable now......
But WHY was he, and nearly ALL the dogs in our animal shelters imported????
We seem to get all the down and outs and charity cases, even the furry ones......

Why is dog breeding not being regulated where every breeder has to pay a licence fee in proportion to the expected sale. Lucy’s law is only a step towards accountability. This is prone to abuse though, we have witnessed clear lies bandied around as to why when you show up, the mother is absent or clearly not the mother!
In relation to utilising the internet to purchase, how else these days does the average person find their companion? Perhaps a dedicated websites ran through vet surgeries where the puppies have to be checked over by a qualified vet before sale with the mother, would impede this trade?
