I know right. Most of the runner ups are very devastating but they take it like a champ in the end. Only Russell from Season 8 who's not take his loss gratefully.
She is my favorite contestant ever on the show. She’s the only mother chef I’ve ever seen go that far. She has no experience in a professional kitchen, just cooking for her children. I’m sure she inspired them beyond belief
I honestly thought Carol Ann had potential. Her signature dish was the best out of everyone's, and she honestly didn't do that much wrong in the kitchen (except not really care, which was obviously the reason why she was out first; she didn't have the heart). But I thought she did better than Dewberry/Jimmy/Jeff in that first service.
Michael after the show: After his appearance on the show, he declined the opportunity to work under Ramsay at London because of family reasons, so he became Head Chef at The Standards restaurant in Los Angeles, before opening his own restaurant called Tatou. But, when he tried to open another restaurant called HK One, he was not able because of his finance problems. So, he opened his knife company called, Skull and Cleavers, and teaches cooking classes. 5 years after his season, he got divorced, lost his infant daughter, and was briefly homeless after a drug addiction. He has since cleaned up, gotten remarried, and is currently looking into buying a food truck business. Ralph after the show: After his appearance on the show, he became a celebrity chef and hosted many tv cooking shows. He opened a lot of successful restaurants in Miami, Florida, such as Naked Taco, Naked Lunch and Naked Tiki. He also competed on "Iron Chef America", where he lost to Iron Chef Bobby Flay, in the battle of barramundi.

The Elsie one really warmed my heart! I'm so proud of her hard work and gratitude on this season, she made it so far even though she has never worked in a professional kitchen before.
Anyone who's seen the episode in which Elsie was eliminated knows that Jessica, Michael and Ralph turned their back on Elsie and let her crumble during service, so when Elsie said that she felt she got enough support, that was just heartbreaking to hear someone who's come a long way seemingly giving up.
If Elsie had told the truth instead of played it humble, she would've been safe. Even Gordon was trying to get her to confess because he knew sabotage was going on. Jessica isn't that great, Ralph is really good but not to the level of Elsie and she would've given Michael more competition if she were to be in the Final 2 than Ralph did.
Same here man, I love Jimmy. He worked hard and never got down on himself no matter how much Ramsay ragged on him. Seeing him win that one challenge was so satisfying.
Season 1 is by far the most realistic and down to earth. Every elimination is actually based on performance and potential to win Hell's Kitchen, and not for publicity. Chef Ramsay didnt' bother keeping atrocious cooks to ensure drama happens in Hell's Kitchen. And also his comments for the eliminations is actually legit and detailed, not stuff like "she had a red jacket, then a blue jack and now no jacket at all" Season 1 will be one of my favourites always
Gordon was more calm and definitely more savage in the first season than he is in later seasons. His more calm and intimidating insults will always be more scary to me than when he’s screaming his lungs out
What about chris being eliminated? Michael quite literally nominated him for being great competition, so season 1 is not truly fair if you look at it from a different angle, Michael breaking Hell’s Kitchen made Gordon Ramsay realize that he needed to start breaking his own set of rules
Hell's Kitchen 1 Placements: 12. Carolann Valentino 11. Jeffery Dewberry 10. Jeffrey LaPoff (Quit) 9. Wendy Liu 8. Mary Ellen Daniels 7. Christopher North 6. Andrew Bonito 5. James Casey 4. Elsie Ramos 3. Jessica Cabo 2. Ralph Pagano 1. Michael Wray

Michael changed the format of the show in two ways: 1) After Chris’ elimination, Ramsay give himself the ability to eliminate ANYONE 2) That sabotage on Ralph
Here's the crazy thing, if you put all the winners into one season, I think Michael could make it final four. He's someone who mastered the cooking portion of the show and the reality portion of the show.
Its so weird seeing season 1 cuz everyone was always together and kind even when eliminated. Now everyone just cares about themselves. Ik its a show but idk its kinda weird to me

I'm in the middle of binging this season. My thoughts so far: - Dewberry may have almost walked out on the red team, but I feel like he was genuine when he said that he wouldn't do it again. He showed he could cook. - If Jeff had stayed longer, I think he would've been worse than Andrew. Still, for such a decay in attitude and continuous poor performances in less than three episodes, he's my least favorite contestant from this season. - Andrew lasted longer than he should've. Even if he learned not to talk back, he was still a terrible cook. Mary Ellen and Chris were both significantly better. Also, he didn't stand up for himself. By the time he started to do so, it was too late. - Not sure if Chris should've lasted longer than Mary Ellen or vice versa. Chris's prentiousness about being an executive chef really bothered me. Michael and Ralph were executive chefs, but didn't constantly boast about it. - Jimmy's a nice guy, but a mediocre cook. He only was able to stay as long as he did because the red team kept winning after Michael joined and Michael nominated Chris because he saw him as competition. Mary Ellen or Chris should've been in the final five over him. - Michael, Ralph, and Elsie are my favorites this season. - Elsie is just wonderful, no question. - Michael is truly determined and passionate. But he's also very sly and cunning. But wow, is he incredible at cooking. A true competitor and very good chef.
Elsie lied to Dewberry that he wouldn’t be nominated then threw him under the bus, I think that’s a mark on her record. Yes he almost walked out and deserved to be put up, but she could’ve been honest about it.
Carolyn: "Some can handle it, some can't. I'm not interested in the ones that can't." Dewberry: "I'm looking for someone who can weather the storm, inspire individuals, stand as a great leader. That, clearly, is not Dewberry." Jeff & Wendy: "The third night of Hell's Kitchen was shocking, really bad. I'm hoping we step up a gear, we raise our game and we start coming together as a proper restaurant. Jeff, well, I had to laugh at the end when he called me an arsehole. I've been called far worse than that. Wendy, well you know, it's about time I put you out of your misery." Mary Ellen: "Mary Ellen has left Hell's Kitchen because of her inconsistency. What the rest of the team should understand, is that it is very crucial to get better and more consistent. That didn't happen with Mary Ellen." Chris: "When you come into the kitchen and announce that you are an executive chef, you expect a little bit more than what I got from Chris. If he's been telling the world that he has that amount of knowledge then he should have been 10 times better." Andrew: "So we're down to the final five. These are the best of the best and the cream is slowly rising to the top. But they really now have to start emerging as individual talent. Andrew's gone tonight because he's out of his depth. I discovered a fake. He can't cook." Jimmy: "Each and every one of these contestants now have to start emerging as individual talent. This is when we really start to find out who can handle the heat and who can't. Clearly tonight, Jimmy couldn't." Elsie: "Now that we're down to the final three, what I am looking for personally is flair, creativity, great imagination and more importantly individuality cause it's now when they really have to start excelling." Jessica: "Now we're down to the final two. This is it. But the fascinating thing about these two guys is they're both equally as good as one another. And this is where they have to now separate, put everything they've learned from Hell's Kitchen and show me what they're made of. That's what I'm looking for." None for Ralph Michael: "Ralph was great tonight. But Michael deserved to win because his creativity and standards are simply on a higher level. And I accomplished my goal of turning an unknown into a master chef. And that has to be the perfect way to close Hell's Kitchen tonight. And I'm fucking out of here!"
God I love how mellow and simplistic Season 1’s eliminations were. Everyone was calm and justified when giving their reasons to stay and Ramsay was such an intimidating force with his deep tone and serious attitude. Nowadays you get the chefs yelling for no reason and all of them say they’re a team player, just nothing else to fall back on and giving the worst reasons to stay with the cringiest delivery. The later seasons are just way too overproduced sometimes. Hells Kitchen used to be so good.
Every seasons always like that. The contestants always smiling in day one and then, as soon as they entered Hell's Kitchen, they're not smiling very much. Even some of them look like a mess, example Melissa from Season 3.
most seasons are already on youtube. look up the channel filmrise (they're uncensored too!). and they're legal uploads, so they won't be going anywhere for awhile.
Elsie didn’t win the restaurant, but she won chef’s heart haha. She sure did light up the place when she smiled, beautiful. I wish her or more of the season 1 contestants returned
Stabbing Dewberry in the back on day one though…not a good look. And everyone talks about how jealous the others were when she got to go on TV, but how about when she was jealous of Jimmy on the previous episode? I’m not buying it. As far as wholesome contestants, she’s not even in the top 20.
Hell’s Kitchen is really about cooking skills as much as it is mental skills your in a kitchen with hundreds of people waiting for their food and a pissed blonde man yelling at you where is the lamb sauce you need a good mind to do good under those circumstances

The fact that Andrew got picked like four times and still didn't get eliminated tells you how much the producers pick the winners. You know Gordon would have been done with him after the second time up.
it's really disappointing to see both chris and andrew get eliminated just as they were turning their attitudes around, chris was arrogant but he was so supportive and andrew had just learned to shut his big mouth up
Elsie was played dirty by the other three. She won a competition before hand and was on a morning tv show teaching how to cook a meal. The other three got jealous and decided to ignore her the nights service. She deserves it more than the other three who were just full of themselves.

Jimmy earned his spot unlike Jessica who couldn’t cook for shit
His smile and laughter is amazing!
Same here man, I love Jimmy. He worked hard and never got down on himself no matter how much Ramsay ragged on him. Seeing him win that one challenge was so satisfying.
Elsie is one of the best teammates you could ever ask for.

His name is Jeffery Dewberry. However. Since theres already a Jeff, he went by his last name.
In the first episode, Dewberry was just kinda someone who was there, and wouldn't be sad if he was gone.
In the second episode, they portrayed Dewberry as someone you actually wanted to do well, and thus it's somewhat heartbreaking when Dewberry is eliminated.

Orbus XV Dewberry came back because Mary Ellen and Jeff did not , Dewberry was also very funny in the last service

I'm in the middle of binging this season. My thoughts so far:
- Dewberry may have almost walked out on the red team, but I feel like he was genuine when he said that he wouldn't do it again.

I'm not interested in the ones that can't."
Dewberry: "I'm looking for someone who can weather the storm, inspire individuals, stand as a great leader. That, clearly, is not Dewberry."
Jeff & Wendy: "The third night of Hell's Kitchen was shocking, really bad. I'm hoping we step up a gear, we raise our game and we start coming together as a proper restaurant. Jeff, well, I had to laugh at the end when he called me an arsehole. I've been called far worse than that. Wendy, well you know, it's about time I put you out of your misery."
Mary Ellen: "Mary Ellen has left Hell's Kitchen because of her inconsistency. What the rest of the team should understand, is that it is very crucial to get better and more consistent. That didn't happen with Mary Ellen."
Chris: "When you come into the kitchen and announce that you are an executive chef, you expect a little bit more than what I got from Chris. If he's been telling the world that he has that amount of knowledge then he should have been 10 times better."
Andrew: "So we're down to the final five. These are the best of the best and the cream is slowly rising to the top. But they really now have to start emerging as individual talent. Andrew's gone tonight because he's out of his depth. I discovered a fake. He can't cook."
Jimmy: "Each and every one of these contestants now have to start emerging as individual talent. This is when we really start to find out who can handle the heat and who can't. Clearly tonight, Jimmy couldn't."
Elsie: "Now that we're down to the final three, what I am looking for personally is flair, creativity, great imagination and more importantly individuality cause it's now when they really have to start excelling."
Jessica: "Now we're down to the final two. This is it. But the fascinating thing about these two guys is they're both equally as good as one another. And this is where they have to now separate, put everything they've learned from Hell's Kitchen and show me what they're made of. That's what I'm looking for."
None for Ralph
Michael: "Ralph was great tonight. But Michael deserved to win because his creativity and standards are simply on a higher level. And I accomplished my goal of turning an unknown into a master chef. And that has to be the perfect way to close Hell's Kitchen tonight. And I'm fucking out of here!"
Remember when in Season 1 the blue and red team were gender independent?
lol i just wanna day that elsie was definitely one of gordon ramsay’s favorites. he was so nice to her and was sad when she had to go

Season One is probably the best season because it's more than just Gordon handing out insults
Imo hearing Gordon insult you with such a low, calm tone is more intimidating than hearing him scream at you.
The fact that Andrew got picked like four times and still didn't get eliminated tells you how much the producers pick the winners. You know Gordon would have been done with him after the second time up.
He got nominated 3 times
Wendy and Mary Ellen both sucked worse than he did
I always hated Andrew.
it's really disappointing to see both chris and andrew get eliminated just as they were turning their attitudes around, chris was arrogant but he was so supportive and andrew had just learned to shut his big mouth up
