@bigGeo5460 I'll see if I can dumb this down. the saw teeth are hardened and tempered to hold sharpness, the back of the saw band (the portion he is using for the blade) isn't hardened. It's heat treated to be springy and won't hold much of an edge. On all knives, the tang (or handle) doesn't have to be hard, so you Can drill holes in it, junior.

If you can drill it that means the blade is not heat treated so what good is putting a handle on it going to do The knife's not going to hold an edge
consider that it had the right temper to hold an edge on the saw teeth
Typically the teeth are hardened to hold an edge and the band is spring tempered
