What you put with reboot sir
I tried with the reboot word, but it is not going to reboot. Instead of reboot, it showing in the command line as it's better to shutdown instead of reboot...

Btw: If the boot options of GRUB don't show up, you can press Shift (in case of BIOS)
or ESC (in case of UEFI)

@@johndank2209 It could, but is not consider a vulnerability because kali linux is running as a VM, so in order to access a VM Grub Section, you need to have access to the Host Server (Vmware ESXI in most cases) wich is very rare to gain access, not impossible but rare. Also, for cibersecurity areas and staff, they never store a Kali VM on a Host Server, they keep it in the personal computers.

Anyone who can access root or root privileges can change the root password. You could lock down root or use SELinux to restrict use of changing root password.

We could simply do, 'sudo su', enter your user's password, and then type 'passwd' and change up the password of the root. Simple

You would have to edit kernel code (?) because root is a user who is set by default.

A better way: use live arch linux iso (or any other live distro) and chroot into the OS you want to change password but arch-chroot is easy, simply mount the root partition to /mnt and type # arch-chroot /mnt. Chroot is one of the best and easiest way to hack into a Linux system if BIOS is unlocked to allow boot from usb/cd/dvd
