•Hyoga Kajitani is an experienced kendo player who has 5 key points for successful kote-waza
    • First, there must be a balance of striking power and te-no-uchi (for hit sound and sharpness)
    • Second, speed after striking is important to experiment with in terms of strengthening legs and shifting center of gravity
    • Third, technical accuracy is key to not hitting the tsuba so the referee will judge that you hit the intended area
    • Fourth, stepping with both feet is important for speed and precision
    • Fifth, using different types of kote techniques depending on the situation

Hi! Thank you for the instruction and demonstration. Can you provide additional information on turn-kote? I am not sure how turn kote is different from the other kote waza

"Turn→Kote" is a technique in which you turn your shinai counterclockwise around your opponent's shinai before striking Kote. The key point of "Turn→Kote" is how to connect the turning action and the Kote-Uchi. If the movements are done separately you will be attacked at the moment of turning. So it is important to study how to connect Kote quickly while turning

@@Kajiatani-Kendo-Global The movement is so fast that I could not understand it! But is "turn-kote" the same of "maki-kote"?

The maki-kote physically rotates the opponent's shinai before striking; the Turn→kote does not physically touch the opponent's shinai. It is considered a type of feint technique.

    thank you for your video.
Could you please explain how you use your footwork in a video? I can see that your movement is really fast and you keep moving your both foot before and after striking. I also watched videos from other kendoka (especially not young kendoka :D), I can see that they look like they dont move. What is the differences between your footwork and their footwork? thank you
