- In this video, I give some insight into the operation and use of the 'round knife' aka the Shaving Machine. Often mistakenly referred to as a fleshing machine, there is correct terminology and usage where these machines are concerned. I hope my viewers gather the information they need to make good use of their own shaving machine.

John, loved you in Animal House!
Great to see you again!

John I seen some of your work featured in one of my taxidermy magazines several years ago I think it was squirrels you mounted , i don't do commercial work anymore but i always used a mini fleshier, my rule of thumb on a deer cape is when you see it turning purple it's thin enough, great video John thank you, you do great work.
That looks like a rawhide machine with i am very familiar with inhVe fleshed about every animal in North America with that type of machine i have processed so many animals with that type of machine at the furrier that I worked at for 15 yrs almost all the hides I worked on were for taxidermy work .mink bobcat beaver timber wolf grey red fox skunk otter .oh so many i miss the work .thank you for bringing back some good memories.
John, this is awesome. Thanks for sharing.
The most abundant animals were racoons .a good wet hide with some fine sawdust makes tracking your work very easy or even corn starch
I wanna start doing this so there is less shrinkage during dry time and cape will also dry faster current it takes about 4-6 weeks for a mount to be fully dry that’s to slow I need faster
Donde puedo comprar una máquina de esta
If Alum tans can't get wet after you tan, how do you sweat your cape the night before you mount your deer?
If I shave the hide to make a rug will it become softer after braking it?
Hey John, this may sound a little crazy might even get a laugh out of you. Do you know of an easy masterful way to shave the fur off of a deer?
