Between 1992 and 2003 Pavarotti held benefit concerts for charity called Pavarotti and friends in his home town of Modena in Italy. This particular concert was for Angolan refugees and it was held on the 28th May 2002.
HOW in the ACTUAL F did I miss this??? I mean, really?? I'm so ashamed to say that I'm today years old, I love James and ADORE Luciano, but I hadn't seen this. 🤯🤯🤯🤯 What a crazy collab that works Magnifico!!! You can clearly see how ill LP is, and yet, he soldiers on. Not to mention, James is no spring chicken himself and just knocks it out of the park! What an amazing performance by two legends. I'm so blown away 😵💫😵💫Thanks for doing this one, sweetie! 🤘Rock on, Kelly 🤘
(Verse 1)Translated From Italian, Luciano sings: Man chases power but he doesn't know it May the Great One limit himself to being as he will appear. He holds an idea in his palm Who doesn't live, That in his imagination ... he wanted If you don't notice that then Nothing makes sense anymore if You live only for yourself.
Be honest: The moment Pavarotti starts singing, you were thinking: These two completely different legends together - it won't work! But it works. And hell yah, how perfect it works! Music is the universal language that makes it working. I'm fascinated by this masterpiece of collaboration every time I'm listening to it.
Pavarotti also did a song with Celine Dion called, “I hate you, then I love you”. It’s about a couple that argue, but can’t ever think about being with someone else.
Such a JAW-DROPPING PERFORMANCE!! I love it when two people you would NEVER THINK would sound good together sing a duet and BLOW OUR MINDS!!! CHILLS to THIS ONE: EVERY TIME I HEAR IT!! LOVE IT!! Thanks, BP!!!
Yes Yes and Yes!!! The respect between these two powerhouse men is beautiful. Pegasus, PLEASE react to some FUNK; James Brown’s “GIVE IT UP OR TURN IT LOOSE”. And absolute classic, and it was “old” in the mid 80’s, yet when I was clubbing in Brooklyn and Manhattan, DJs who knew the good sh$t would play it; we girls just stepped back in a circle because the guys, B Boys, would take over the floor; it was GLORIOUS 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
OMG!! How on earth did I miss this one? I love this song and the way James Brown sang it I almost melted. Then when Luciano Pavarotti came in I was like WT* Those two singing that was one of the best things I've ever seen.
This was in Pavarotti's home town of Milan in Italy. There was a series called "Pavarotti and friends", and this was part of that. One of the greatest performances ever. I mean, when have we heard James Brown backed by a full orchestra? Awesome.
I just have, I called for this man made myth to show himself, and guess what he didn’t hence proving there’s no god, can you gullible dumbazz prove that this man made myth is real
Half way through and I'm loving this.. how amazing.. who would have ever thought that James Brown and Luciano would sing a song together and make it so beautiful... This is legendary. WOW
So glad you got to this one. Two fabulous singers from two completely different genres and it works so well. And who cares what the words mean that Luciano is singing. I'm not an opera fan but I could listen to him all day; his voice is just that exquisite. I especially like this version of the song with James Brown just singing from the heart without any stage distractions.
I never get tired of this one. And yes, Pavarotti's health was in decline at this time. This gem should be heralded and stored in this world's most esteemed historical collector institutions so that it is forever preserved and available for viewing for generations to come.
Thank you for introducing me to this. Just went and watched the performance. Amazing. And the orchestra behind them holds up both voices. Orchestras and bands never get enough credit during performances like this where they play out of their strength but still make it work. Just... kudos all around.
I am italian and Luciano Pavarotti Is the top of all he invented this festival with the great big Singer of the world for the donation for the Africa Kosovo and others countries he was a big man in all a big Singer and a big human i am proud to be italian also for him🙏🙏🙏🙏
Luciano and Michael Bolton's rendition of Vesti La Giubba from one of the charity concerts is something else. It's also worth checking out their performance of Nessun Dorma on Letterman. Luciano kept insisting to Michael that he was an opera singer. Michael did not believe him, but Luciano insisted and eventually when Michael did sing it he was amazing and received a Bravo! fro the maestro!
I love where you're taking yourself... we all have our "boxes" and no matter our talent, intelligence and accolades they can serve us as well as constrict us. We can strive to move further out of them - or not. What I see on your channel is true, open growth, and I am really appreciating watching your reactions.
I can't wait to hear this.. My Mother is Sicilian and loves opera.. my sister loved opera.. I'm a Hair Band girl.. ..but Luciano doing the Nessun Dorma.. I love.. the only opera song I like.. this will be interesting.
One of my personal favourite collaborations was with Bono.. U2 ft Luciano Pavarotti - Miss Sarajevo. The slower pace of the song complements Pavarotti's incredible voice beautifully, and the harrowing story behind the video highlights war ravaged Bosnia in 1993.
Pavarotti & Friends for Angola (2002) The Pavarotti & Friends for Angola benefit concert took place on May 28, 2002 to raise money for Angolan refugees through the UNHCR programme. Guest performers included Andrea Bocelli, James Brown, Elisa, Grace Jones, Gino Paoli, Sting and Lou Reed
While I listen to every genre, I grew up in a household, where we listened to primarily classical music and opera. My mother loved classical music and my father loved opera. I have always loved classical music (I play violin) and acquired the taste for some opera as I grew up. Pavarotti was/is one of my favorites… if you want to be blown away by his singing… with a song that you might recognize because I’ve seen it in commercials and in mob movies, check out Vesti La Giubba from the opera Pagliacci.
As you said, I've no idea what Pavarotti was singing but it gave me goosebumps! Amazing collaboration. John Denver did a collaboration with Placido Domingo that you might want to check out.
Thank you, thank you for this incredible reaction. What a performance. We are all so blessed to live in a time to hear the different genres connect in the most beautiful way possible. I am blown away. ❤
One of the lines in what Luciano is singing, translates as I live only for you what Luciano is singing, is also a love song about how a Man loves a woman. What James Brown said, as he was leaving, backstage to the crowd translates from Italian to English as the word thank you I think the performance was in the Square at Vatican City in Rome, but I could be wrong on that.
That was epic! I don’t know how the hell I missed this! JB just oozes soul and Pavarotti is just sublime! Thanks for doing this one! We all grow every day as long as we leave ourselves open to it! You are a great role model BP! ❤️🔥✌🏻🫶🏻
Freddie Mercury paired with opera singer Montserrat Caballé. He loved opera and loved her. They met and hit it off and they sang and recorded a whole album together. First time this type of pairing was done so it opened the door for future collaborations. Listen to their hit “Barcelona”.
lol Yes indeed, "Grazie" is thank you in Italian. Thank you, this was a nice reaction video. And bro, enjoy your 40's. That was 20 years ago for me, and my 40's were some of the best years of my life, so don't ever look down on them as if you are too old. lol
THANK YOU FOR SHARING THIS! I never knew they did this, and feel like I witnessed a part of history that should be more prevalent…this is so empowering/: against agenda allegedly

Can't add anything to that👍
Same!
It was one of the many reaction channels that I stumble upon this gem durung covid, so your not alone 😮😊❤
With you Granny, I had never seen this and have no idea why that is.
@@annabinksy1694same here while though the pandemic!
You have to watch "Barcellona" sung by Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballe!
The main message that Pavarotti is singing, is that none of it makes sense if man is only living for himself.
(Verse 1)Translated From Italian, Luciano sings:
Man chases power but he doesn't know it
May the Great One limit himself to being as he will appear.
He holds an idea in his palm
Who doesn't live,
That in his imagination ... he wanted
If you don't notice that then
Nothing makes sense anymore if
You live only for yourself.
If possible, please translate the other verses.
Pavarotti + Barry White is another Classic
Pavarotti did so much to spread the love of the operatic music. Broke through to people who would have thought not for them.
They both died within a year from each other 4-5 years after this concert.
Two great artists lost but never forgotten!
Luciano performing with Tracy Chapman is a must react to - so is Eric Clapton and Luciano singing together!
I never saw Eric Clapton sing with Paverati. I can't wait to see that one ❤
@@bobbiewallace4008 right!!!!

Tracy Chapman and Pavarotti doing her song Baby can I Hold You. Another great duet !
REALLY😮❤
Now that’s a Collaboration from Heaven, thank you BP 👍🏻🇺🇸❤️
It isn't two worlds colliding. It is two worlds melding. Amazing performance. Thanks, BP!
Pavarotti also did a song with Celine Dion called, “I hate you, then I love you”. It’s about a couple that argue, but can’t ever think about being with someone else.

Awesome.
The best part about this is the absolute love and respect for each other that shows on their faces. They are worlds apart, but game recognizes game.
And from what I’ve seen most good musicians and people with music in their souls have an appreciation for genres of music different from their own.
Luciano Pavarotti give us the ultimate singing experience. Music pure for heart and soul. And everyone feel ....
God given talent on display, what else can you say.

Two voices, so different and yet both magnificent.
There just aren't a lot of men who can sing on stage next to James Brown. There just aren't a lot of men who can sing on stage next to Pavarotti.
It makes your soul want to swell and fly into the air to meet this song!

One I would highly recommend is Pavarotti singing "Too Much Love Will Kill You" with Queen.
I love this song ever since I was a child my mom spoke Italian and I lived in a black community this song was my soul when I was five

Facinating. Are most people here watching this, like myself, seeing it for the first time?? I think so.
I've seen it several times. But never tire of seeing it again.
I was,so excited when I saw this many years ago. Two different kinds of singers creating harmony with each other. Like Picaco and Bob Ross.
