This show is very entertaining on different levels. For one, I like how the animated the characters. I like how they stand around when someone's getting killed or with horses running through the woods and hitting trees and then just move to the side and keep on with dude on his back just riding along. LOL. Kind of like a new twist on history so to speak. LOL. Good show.
Rohan's army had only Cavalry units: in fact in the book, in the chapters of the Siege of Gondor and the Battle of Pelennor Fields, Théoden refuses to take his army inside the walls of Minas Tirith because he said that the Rohirrim are a people of knights that can only fight at their best mounted on horses...
They may have fought best on horse, but that didn't mean they didn't have infantry and fight in sieges or on foot Helms deep is a good example of this in both the books and the movie. Furthermore in the books after they were defeated in battle Helm Hammerhand pulled his people back in helms deep and fought a long siege and withstood the Dunlending assaults. His eldest son Prince Haleth fought and died in a siege battle of Edoras. Finally in the books, when Gandalf arrived at Helms Deep with Erkenbrand they brought a thousand FOOT soldiers, not Horsemen, like in the movie
No army, in fantasy or reality, *only* had cavalry. It's impossible to hold ground, extremely expensive and makes logistics of moving supplies and people more difficult.
@@brandondavis7777 the name "Rohirrim" means "Horse Lords" in Sindarin, and it's written in the LoTR's Appendices and The History of Middle-earth series that, whenever Rohan went to war, they always mobilized only armies of cavalry. Eorl the Young come in the aid of Gondor during the Battle of the Field of Celebrant (T.A. 2509) with an army of thousands knights and mounted archers; King Gram, father of Helm Hammerhead, attempted to drive the Dunlendings out of the fortress of Isengard, but had to give up because, and it is written in the Appendices and Unfinished Tales, "the Rohirrim were unable to wage siege battles" implying that as infantry they weren't are up to the Gondorians. In T.A. 3019, in Dunharrow camp, Théoden tells Hirgon that he has gathered 12,000 spears (aka knights and mounted archers) but is sorry that he can only bring half of them to Gondor's aid, just as he told to Denethor's messengers near the Rammas Echor that he only had cavalry soldiers with him, and that they couldn't fight at their best behind the walls of Minas Tirith.
@@elrostarminyatur1814 yeah, we've had "horse lords" in reality and they required infantry to function properly, which you yourself point out by the rohirram not being able to function in sieges. An authors ignorance in not mentioning something like that is a problem with the author, not a problem with functionality.
4:20 - funny when Uruk-hai have spears when arriving at fence, when they are jumping over it they have swords, and when they finish jumping animation they get their spears back... :P
Epic. While I'm not a fan of how this battle ended (because I'm narrow-minded), gosh I dig how well it was portrayed! Is it possible to mod the blood spray so that orcs bleed black?

@@WarAndHistory. its just go a couple bugs in it I have had it have freezes some times when you go in to battle and start it to the point where its unplayable so recommend saving every time an 2 times i have now had the campaign end turn its going through all the AI and then it will stop and that's it if you try again it ill freeze again on that turn but if you have saved it say 3-4 turns back before hand it seems to work past it... i know they sound a pain in the butt, but just to play the LoTr campaign is blooming awesome
The Rohan could of finished them easily if they had had catapults firing down on the force's that where pinned ' it's silly to send a whole Army straight into battle without At least two Lines of defence in the way
Stupid battle, stupid defeat. Rohan had the best settlement for defence but they didn't even try to use its advantage. They could easly block narrow passages with one unit and let arches shoot the orcs having some swords and axes in reserve. And then attack exhausted orcs from the rear with cavalry. But death of the Rohan cavalry was absolutely pointless, with no charge.
They look cool but I personally would like a bit more movie accuracy. But I can’t even imagine how hard it must be to make these models so I try not to be too critical
Well, in truth the Rohan units here, and the only ones currently available to the public, actually are made from base Attila assets, and are purely placeholders from a submod
In my opinion, the battle was kinda meh. It's just "Orcs face a Rohan settlement highly outnumbered, cut their way through outnumbered Rohan units with little significant casualties and win." No strategies besides "defend" and "attack" no stakes, no significant moments. Just random generic humans vs orcs battle.

No way the Uruks would have gotten that close to a settlement in order. Rohirrim would have been sending cavalry attacks for days before, wearing them down. I admire the effort, but all of these cinematic battles have no sense of tactics or strategy. You're just running masses at each other.

What would've happened if the people of Rohan never went to Helm's Deep in the time of the war against the Uruk-Hai Orcs from Isengard:
How do you make the unit sizes bigger than what they usually are?
Why didn't the Rohan guards use Giant Rock catapults to fire down at them while they had them pinned in

Can I still get that kind of Rohan unit in the current version of the ROM mod?
I'm not sure

If it was real the orcs would win every time. They have pikes and would easily whip out the Rohan cav. Plus Rohan has weak infantry
Not trying to hate but they could def improve the Rohan armor. The colors seem off to me

Why do you pit unfavourable numbers to the good guys. Of course Rohan would of lost. 12000 against 5000? That's nearly 2 to 1. Fair up the numbers.
