Thank you for bringing up the comment of the GVWR and GAWR on some trailers. You are correct that in most of these situations the manufacturers expect the tongue weight to relieve the axles of an often significant portion of the GVWR. A serious and often overlooked issue is the often casual recommendation to use a weight distribution hitch, even on a single axle RV, without a thorough understanding of these numbers and how they work. This is particularly important on a single axle trailer, where a load leveling weight distribution system by design RE-distributes the tongue weight to BOTH the front axle of the tow vehicle AND the rear axle(s) of the trailer. And don't just think the weight redistribution automatically just stops at a trailer's tongue weight, an overly "aggressively" tightened weight distribution setup can easily place a significant portion of the tow vehicles weight on the trailer axle(s) as well. Hope this helps.
Adding to this, all the storage including the spare tire are BEHIND the axle.... Major issue for weight distribution and novice campers that want to pack as much as they can in to the trailer.

Perfect little limited use trailer. We got the 15fk model for my 5’3” wife and it is perfect to take up to our mountain lot for 2-3 day visits and she can handle it herself. We added 2 6volt batteries and a 100 watt solar. It’s the heaviest she can handle. It can take a while to find one of these but it fits our limited needs and budget. We don’t go that far and don’t load a lot of stuff in it. Nice review. Good to see you Josh.
I've always liked them. We were going to get one but the bathroom was a deal breaker for my wife. One thing that manufacturers need to start making standard on trailers with bunks is to have a window in at least the top bunk. So much heat is retained there. If you don't have hookups it makes for a terrible night. That was one of the main failings in the geopro g16bh.
I bought a '23 this past Oct. Only had it out one time but I am very happy with it as a single camp guy. I'm 5ft 11 and the only place (other than the shower) where I hit my head is the doorway going out. Keep up the good work Josh!
I feel like there's a lot they can improve, but I like what they're attempting to do. A smaller fridge/freezer would allow the top to be an additional counter space to be flush with the sink and stove. The AC unit being top mounted would open up more interior space, or provide some cabinet space. Some windows in the bunk and dinette would also be nice.
Yeah it’s tricky.. they could’ve “gone crazy” with it but then it would likely cost a bunch more and likely add some weight. There’s space in the market for something more simple like this
I believe they could 86 the bathroom and replace it with a cabinet that has drawers in it. It has an outside shower and I have a shower tent with a camp toilet. It would open the trailer up a little with room to provide some 110V plugs for a small fan to get air to the bunks.
We got the twin of this, "free solo". I'm 6'1'' I can walk in it. It is a very basic camper. Make your own mods to it. We put a TV mount on the wall above the fridge and use the speakers on the ceiling from the radio. I do sleep in the lower bunk just fine. Have 4 batteries in it for solar. It is a very good starter camper.... Hope you had a good vacation. Love your channel.
This would be a great partner hunting /fishing trip camper. The only thing that I see would be a "must" would be change the axle to 5000 pounds. You wouldn't need that much weight, but the stresses of some roads getting to outdoor activity areas would need the extra capacity.
It's always tough showing things that could disqualify an RV from being purchased by someone. But that means we're now one step closer to finding an RV you'll actually enjoy for longer! :)
Thanks for reviewing the Bushwhacker. Nice to see. On the plus side, I was impressed with the size of the bunks. They’re wider than I’ve seen on bigger, budget bunkhouses (I’m looking at you, R-Pod.) I wouldn’t mind some more windows, to feel less claustrophobic, like a tear drop. But I understand they’re building to a particular price point. I can see it working for 2-3 people for like a weekend or so.
I love this model..I wish though that they made a similar layout with the same sleeping capacity and indoor bathroom but eliminate the indoor kitchen and make a full outdoor kitchen. To me that would be awesome!:)
Pretty well executed for the size. The lack of insane splash decals really appeals to me as well. Awning should be included. Is there more storage under the front bunk? I don't see an exterior cargo door up there. I can't imagine it's dead space. Thanks for touching on the axle weight thing. It blew my mind when we bought our wolfpack that they didn't leave any wiggle room and assumed the pin weight would never change. Being a toy hauler, and having access to scales, I can tell you that we are over axle, and at/under GVWR almost every trip. Luckily they give enough tire capacity.
@@desertsasquatchxploration1568 I have one 190 watt solar panel and a 100 AH Battleborn lithium battery. I can go a long time typically dry camping, I usually have 100 percent battery when the sun goes down. It’s been cloudy today, 6:45 PM right now and I am 94%.

Real talk: There's nothing flashy or fancy here. It's built to be as inexpensive as possible for the size. But not everybody needs a big, heavy, high dollar number
I know you're being genuine but (to me) it feels like you're almost apologizing for how not fancy it is. I'm personally in the market for a small "better than a tent" camper like this, and for me personally its hard to get excited about what it IS when you keep pointing out what it ISNT. Just my perspective, but I still love your reviews. Thank you so much for measuring the bunks and laying down on the dinettabed.
Ty for the input. I will rewatch and see if i unintentionally provided a different “tone” than I meant to give I wasn’t feeling great and had travel troubles on that trip. I wasn’t 100%
I agree. Josh tends to do that a lot on used trailers too. Going around pointing out all the warts. It's used. It has warts. I'm thinking people complained about him "misrepresenting" so he's trying to prove how honest he is. Josh, my homeboy ( I'm from MI), we know what we're looking at. We know it's not fancy. We know it's not a "full timer". If "we" don't, that's not your fault. A light weight weekend camper that's practically priced, is not going to give the wows. Maybe just a simple disclaimer at the beginning, "If you're looking for a party wagon or a towable house, this ain't for you."
Nice I’ve been looking at the 10FD Bushwacker so if you see one please do a video. Good job on the beds I’m surprised the back dinette is almost a Queen size definitely larger than a full size.
"Go-Go-Gadget arms to flip your bacon" omg this is my favorite review you've done. It's so funny now but I'm gonna watch this again after an attitude adjustment and I'm sure I will be cry-laughing. When you hang up your RV sales biz consider stand-up comedy. I will fly anywhere to watch you!!!
It's a really nice small camper. Except for that GAWR - they should have just bumped it to a 3500lb axle for the few $$ difference. Safety is the one thing that should never be compromised.
I could almost say sold were it not for the tight wet bath. I like the idea of fully self-contained and not schlepping to a communal shower. I also love cruise ships and am fine with the less than full size bath in most staterooms. I'm just not flexible enough any more for potty to shower slither. My wife and I are 5'8", so the low roof head-bumper isn't problem. I do like the openness of the bunks, with the open space to the living area. Any smaller and I would I should be able to see the MRI scan after crawling out.
When I saw “Budget Beater”, I was expecting at least a $20,000 plus 2022 MSRP🙄but when I saw the $15,000 sale price for this tiny self contained trailer I actually thought👍👍👍
Thx Jim. I'll see what I can wrangle up on future trips out. Maybe I could do one video with several models back to back to back since this is so small?
The ceiling height will be a problem for me so thank you on that. I would also switch around the layout a bit and get rid of the bunks and get queen bed in it at all possible. I am not really a fan of the toilet shower, but could do it. This could be like I want to give a camper a try option, but not for me.
They have a variety of layouts available here: www.braxtoncreek.com/model/bushwhacker-plus I think that 17FD might be just what you're looking for based on what I'm reading here
@@JoshtheRVNerd That one is pretty close to a starter for me. The height would be an issue though. I am 6' 2". If they bumped up the height just a bit I would like it as an option for sure.
What an interesting little cheep and cheap trailer, with a very reasonable price point. Nice to see when a lot of other lighter weight fully enclosed small trailers in this size range are going for $8,000 to $15,000 more. This is a unit you can use, abuse and not be to concerned about resale price or depreciation, because you started at such an affordable price in the first place. You can buy this one, use it for 2 to 5 years, sell it for $4,500 to $8,000 and still spend less money at the end of the day than many of the other more expensive brands of small trailers. Or maybe buy a used one of these at the all ready depreciated price and save even more money. I went and looked these guys up. And I saw an interesting 17FL model. Had a chair and bench in front. It was used, nice shape, and under $14,000. Probably even less if the dealer was willing to discount the price even a little more to get the sale. This is definitely a lower price point trailer. And in a good way. With sticker prices starting in the $15k range, you get a useable trailer that gets the job done. It has stand up room in it, a modest roof clearance, a small fridge, a 2 burner stove, a wall mount instead of roof mount AC unit, a small wet pooper/shower unit, and room to sleep 2 to 4 real people in it. It has an easy care exterior. The features you use, and no extras. Why pay for a tv/entertainment system? Almost everybody has a phone, tablet or notebook PC with superior features at an already paid for price, and is very easy to upgrade and take anywhere you go. Not covered with a lot of graphics, so it’s a little plain on the outside. It has a #3200 GVW, so it can realistically be towed by smaller compact and midsize tow vehicles. And while you pointed out the sewer pipes were a little low, you did not mention the torsion beam independent trailing arm axle. That gives the trailer a smother ride and better ground clearance vs a leaf spring solid axle unit. The tail lights are low mounted in the rear frame crossmember at the bottom of the trailer, which gives it a unique rear style to it. It comes with nice alloy wheels and traction tires. So light off roading (dirt and unimproved roads and campsite capable.) About the only factory change I would make are side windows in the front. It’s a little dark, claustrophobic and cave like in the front. Adding some reflective, colorful stripes to the sides would flash up the looks quite a bit and personalize the trailer to your taste. Some colorful blankets, floor covers and pillows on the inside would really cheer up the interior. For just a few hundred bucks for graphics, you could turn this into a neat looking retro/canned ham trailer. And it’s new, not rotted, worn out and rusty. Plus it comes a warranty. I see why these are flying off the lots as fast as they come in.
I think next time I'm around these I might try to get several more recorded. I'm having trouble getting to EVERYTHING I would like at this point. What would you say to something like having 2-3 lined up at once and doing a side-by-side-by-side review of a few of them?
@@JoshtheRVNerd I think it could be beneficial. You could do the review on the primary unit, then do quick out takes on the other units to show the different configurations available. Or if there are different colors and trims. Thus potential customers might see something that grabs their attention in the other unit not present in the primary unit. Sometimes something we may not notice or think is important becomes the killer application or feature that presents the trigger for the customer that goes “I want that one”.

I'm not at the location that has these currently and wasn't able to record one when I visited. I'm having trouble getting to all the models I would like so I'd love some feedback here -- what if I quick-covered 2-3 campers from the same brand at once? It might really help me get to more of these smaller units
Very nice review. I really enjoy watching your videos as you do your best to entertain while at the same time really go through the details of the campers. I do wish Braxton Creek would offer a light colored wood for this camper as it would give it a much bigger interior feel. Also, a window over by the bunk area would work much better for airflow. I am going to look at it in person one of these days, but so far, I do like what I see. It' simple and straightforward for a newbie like me!
Are the aerodynamics of this camper better than traditional travel trailers of the same approximate weight and size? Will be towing with a midsize truck (Canyon).
No rv is good in terms of aero-factors. They’re all rolling bricks. This is smaller and less surface area which doesn’t hurt but you will not like see any significant variance between them
Hello, Kinda resembles a new, solid sided version of the old serro scottie...turn that bottom front bunk into a fold down bed/fold up couch, kinda like the old click/clack couches of back in the day so u have 1 permenant bunk and a couch/bunk below it n I think it would fit a few more families that way. Overall, I think it suits a niche in the rv market. Thank You
Great little camper ...even my two 100# dogs & I could make this work! I'll take a bunk & they could share the dinette convertible bed! All good for a quick get away & saves on gas being so light. 👍👍🐾😎
Josh, do you guys sell the Bushwhacker 10HD? Or the FREE SOLO OG? I was looking at one of them today at a local dealership. Wondering if you guys had the smaller ones. Great video here. I linked to it in one of my videos. Thanks. Pat
After dying laughing watching you fold a table into a bed I realized that could be a nice little Lounge area with some throw pillows along the walls where you can sit and read a book or do whatever you want personally I'd leave the table out and leave that back flap down that way if you had to you could fit a little TV tray in there to eat or to do work
Man that's awesome! It's so cool when you meet someone like that and find out they're just normal, good people. Nothing like hoping to meet some kind of celebrity only to discover they're jerks lol
Pricing changes regularly and may vary by shipping distance, invoice date, and options applied in some cases So I include links in the description that will always provide you a current discounted sale price rather than a potentially outdated figure No calls required. There when you’re ready
This camper is actually better then I thought it would be, but it is obvious that the price and the light weight seem to be the primary selling factors here. If someone is currently traveling with a tent and wants to upgrade to a trailer and not have to buy a new tow vehicle, this unit may be an answer. If it were me, I think I would lose the air conditioner altogether. Most of the places and times that I camp I just wouldn't use it, but I would use the additional storage space in the kitchen a lot more. I am also not a fan of having my primary exterior storage in the back of the trailer. The more you fill it up, the lighter the tongue weight becomes on the trailer, possibly causing you trailer sway problems. Overall, not a bad unit for a basecamp.
Is there a "small" bunkhouse with more interior height? I am 77" tall. The closest match I have found so far is the Jayco 154BH or the Amerilite 16BH. I need a bunkhouse for our 2 toddlers.

yeah, any axle that's pushing or exceeding the limit is just asking to break on some roads, not even counting going onto gravel, let alone nature.
Even a true 3500lb axle.. ANYTHING.. I just don't like how the RV industry adds the axle + hitch weight for GVWR in so many cases..
I actually looked at one of these when I was in Kalispell, Montana on my Glacier NP trip.
What'd you think?
Also -- what's it like at that store? I haven't been there quite yet
That's pretty cute and fun.
Thank you for being honest in your reviews. The bathroom was definitely a deal breaker
“Looking at you rpod” hahahaa
I love this model..I wish though that they made a similar layout with the same sleeping capacity and indoor bathroom but eliminate the indoor kitchen and make a full outdoor kitchen. To me that would be awesome!:)
Wish you were closer to new England, love these and your prices are very good.
I don't know what expansions we might have in the works but I do know we're still expanding. So maybe we're just not near New England quite YET :)
Not sure on the front bunk storage. Seems like there would have to be but I visually wasn’t smart enough to think about it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
For my RV I bought a 12v/110v flat screen TV with a DVD player built in. I think that would be perfect on a swivel arm on this rig.
Sounds like something like Geo/Epro uses. Great idea!
I like the big bunks!
She likes big bunks and she cannot lie
I like it alot. I am 5 foot 5. But i really like the roof system. It will last and be low maintenance.
Best channel. 🎉
Nice little camper. I really like the Everchill refrigerator, mine works great in my Geo Pro.
Thanks for all the information about weight distribution and I learned a lot from viewer comments (no bunk windows/heat).
Glad it was helpful!
It's a great price point alternative to tab 400 or little guy max.
I wondered if anyone would draw that conclusion. Ty
This salesman is great!
Ty Jen!! Would you believe I am not actually in sales?? 😊
@@JoshtheRVNerd
WHAT? Well I certainly enjoyed how you hosted this video. I do like the trailers, but I had to comment because you were not only honest but really entertaining and enjoyable to watch! Great job. I think you have a second career opportunity.
@@jenocean824 yep! Not a salesperson though obviously my work runs quite parallel.
This video stuff is what I do - I share the good with the bad and let you choose if it’s worth investigating further
Thank you Josh. Excellent job. Very informative. I hadn't seen this trailer before. Not too bad of rig as far as I can tell from your video.
Real talk: There's nothing flashy or fancy here. It's built to be as inexpensive as possible for the size. But not everybody needs a big, heavy, high dollar number
Awesome video Josh!
Ty Ty Ty!!
thank you very much
I know you're being genuine but (to me) it feels like you're almost apologizing for how not fancy it is.
I will rewatch and see if i unintentionally provided a different “tone” than I meant to give
I wasn’t feeling great and had travel troubles on that trip.
I didn't have a chance to get my hands on more of these while there but I'll try to get a few more the next time around!
It’s cute. It needs more windows. I’m curious to see if they have a version without bunks. Thanks!
Their list of floorplans does include several no bunk models
Hi the bed would work for us short & wide but the COMMODE room is a no go . I didn't see clothes line or GIANT burrito storage . Idk now I'm in vac
I really don’t like that “hitch weight adds to the gvwr” thing
I could almost say sold were it not for the tight wet bath. I like the idea of fully self-contained and not schlepping to a communal shower. I also love cruise ships and am fine with the less than full size bath in most staterooms. I'm just not flexible enough any more for potty to shower slither. My wife and I are 5'8", so the low roof head-bumper isn't problem. I do like the openness of the bunks, with the open space to the living area. Any smaller and I would I should be able to see the MRI scan after crawling out.
I actually don't mind community showers provided they're reasonably well maintained. Obviously nothing beats having your own shower space, though.
When I saw “Budget Beater”, I was expecting at least a $20,000 plus 2022 MSRP🙄but when I saw the $15,000 sale price for this tiny self contained trailer I actually thought👍👍👍
Yeah not bad, right? :)
I like it (for what it is intended for). I’d like to see more from this manufacturer. Thanks Josh
Thx Jim. I'll see what I can wrangle up on future trips out. Maybe I could do one video with several models back to back to back since this is so small?
@@JoshtheRVNerd Great idea.
The ceiling height will be a problem for me so thank you on that. I would also switch around the layout a bit and get rid of the bunks and get queen bed in it at all possible. I am not really a fan of the toilet shower, but could do it. This could be like I want to give a camper a try option, but not for me.
They have a variety of layouts available here: www.braxtoncreek.com/model/bushwhacker-plus
I think that 17FD might be just what you're looking for based on what I'm reading here
@@JoshtheRVNerd That one is pretty close to a starter for me. The height would be an issue though. I am 6' 2". If they bumped up the height just a bit I would like it as an option for sure.
Nothing like a bushwacker
we have a very high truck so how could you make the trailer level or is this for a tiny suv
Adjustable hitch
So light off roading (dirt and unimproved roads and campsite capable.)
About the only factory change I would make are side windows in the front.
Your animation cracks me up. I just saw this manufacturer a week ago. A believe it was a bigger model?
I think they have a few slightly larger as well
I got one in November 👍 so far I liked..
Nice! Good to hear :)
My wife and I are extremely interested in the new floor plan in the 2023 Braxton creek bushwhacker plus 15RE. If you run across one, we would love to see one of your videos on it.
I’ll keep an eye out!!
No storage under the front bottom bunk? Seems like a better spot for passthrough storage.. or at least additional.
Hmm.. didn't think about that. Good catch. It's possible there's a "trunk" style storage from the inside there. Not sure..
That's something one of our team members on site could certainly verify. I do agree there's opportunities there though
Very helpful. What is the ground clearance at the Sewer output system?
Apologies I don't have a spec for that. A team member on site could certainly measure for you any time. No credit card number or blood type required for little questions like that lol :)
Hot dang I actually really dig this thing! I love my Wildwood 179DBK but this is pretty sweet!
The extra height/width in your Wildwood is super nice by comparison as well!
@@JoshtheRVNerd its been a great camper
Dude, your awesome 😎 keep it up.👍
Thanks, you too!
Bonus points if you were to do the arm flailing Bushwaker walk
Oh dude.. NEARLY did it
Josh I love that you stretch out on the beds. I am 6'5" tall and so it gives me an idea. BTW, I don't think that was a DVD player, I think it was a CD player
I could've been mistaken. Often Rvs have a combo unit but I might've failed to look/verify
You should of shown the out side and when you walk in cut to a Montana "It's so roomy inside"
Hahaha..🤪🤣
Can you review the Bushwhacker 10HD?
I will watch for one
I would love to see a tour of the Bushwacker Plus 15DS. Any chance you have one of those on hand to walk through with us?
I'm not at the location that has these currently and wasn't able to record one when I visited.
I'm having trouble getting to all the models I would like so I'd love some feedback here -- what if I quick-covered 2-3 campers from the same brand at once? It might really help me get to more of these smaller units
Love your channel, can you do a Keystone Bullet 312BHS, it is a unique designed bunkhouse with two true queen beds.
Perhaps if I can get my hands on one. It's kind of similar to the cougar 30bhs I think.. ua-cam.com/video/YHFblmRCj4c/v-deo.html
Well TY so much for joining me today!
top bunk would be perfect for my cat
🐈
Are the aerodynamics of this camper better than traditional travel trailers of the same approximate weight and size?
Will be towing with a midsize truck (Canyon).
No rv is good in terms of aero-factors. They’re all rolling bricks. This is smaller and less surface area which doesn’t hurt but you will not like see any significant variance between them
@@JoshtheRVNerd Thank you! Very good to know.
Hello,
Kinda resembles a new, solid sided version of the old serro scottie...turn that bottom front bunk into a fold down bed/fold up couch, kinda like the old click/clack couches of back in the day so u have 1 permenant bunk and a couch/bunk below it n I think it would fit a few more families that way.
Overall, I think it suits a niche in the rv market.
Thank You
A little bit, yeah! There's something about those Scottie campers that always had that special "thing" to me :)
Thanks.
Pat
I like it
Which light weight travel trailer is the best for tall guys 6'3 and over? Under 3000 lbs
Tall guy friendly under 3,000lbs doesn’t generally go together
The A-frame campers would be about it
@@JoshtheRVNerd thanks a lot Josh
After dying laughing watching you fold a table into a bed I realized that could be a nice little Lounge area with some throw pillows along the walls where you can sit and read a book or do whatever you want personally I'd leave the table out and leave that back flap down that way if you had to you could fit a little TV tray in there to eat or to do work
I’ve seen people do that actually
HaHa..I met the Bushwackers when I lived in Tampa. They were awesome and super friendly.
Man that's awesome! It's so cool when you meet someone like that and find out they're just normal, good people. Nothing like hoping to meet some kind of celebrity only to discover they're jerks lol
So will a town and country 2014 pull it?? I can’t get a straight answer.
Without details on the vehicle, I’m afraid I cannot offer a definitive answer
I am just wondering. Why you and a couple. Others don't say the msrp? Bunks allways gives more under outside storage.
Pricing changes regularly and may vary by shipping distance, invoice date, and options applied in some cases
So I include links in the description that will always provide you a current discounted sale price rather than a potentially outdated figure
No calls required.
What I respect is they did t try to pretend to be more than they are. They’re just like “we cost less and we weigh less. Deal with it.”
What about the tallywacker camper?
rofl ranks right up there with the goopstomper
m & m coated shell !!!
Is there a "small" bunkhouse with more interior height? I am 77" tall. The closest match I have found so far is the Jayco 154BH or the Amerilite 16BH. I need a bunkhouse for our 2 toddlers.
6'6" ceilings is the most I've ever seen in a smaller bunk model -- like that Jayco you mentioned
@@JoshtheRVNerd Ameri-Lite makes a 16BH that has an interior height of 6'8". But good luck finding one. Gulfstream Coach doesn't seem to fill their dealers with stock. They must be having major supply chain issues.
Are these actually built well? That is my concern. Does it hold together well?
They’re a budget option. The price tag cannot support being on the build level of something like a tab
I think I found the one I want to get.
I like that ac unit, I had to replace my dometic and that was $2,000
ouch!
can it be towed with a 2015 toyota rav4 xle awd ?
With tow package, yes, but the vehicle is going to work hard
Do they one like this a separate shower
One - the 15ds
