I've been jigging around providence/stave island for a couple of days now and had no luck. I've got no sonar and only a small Jon boat with 5 HP mercury. It seems like jigging randomly in water that is 60-100 ft. isn't the best approach. Is it smarter to troll when I don't have a sonar or jig? Have you had any success with lake trout/salmon in the south hero area?
I haven't fished that area of the lake yet but I'm sure they are up there. My next video will help you a lot. If you are jigging blind your best bet is to find a hump and jig on it. Trolling is effective blind but you need to get down deep and know how deep you are.
Im getting back into trolling with leadcore. This weekend i kicked off with new gear about 35 ft but had a hard time knowing when i had hits... Any suggestions?
Turn on the clicker, tighten the tension knob tight then open the bait release. Then slowly loosen the tension knob until the line just starts to pull and that's how you detect bites

Trolling is really no my thing. People are very interested in the gear that's why it sounds like Greek. There is a lot of science that goes into trolling compared to Jigging

Is the Lake Trout fishing in lake Sunapee, NH good because I wanted to give it a shot as I’m going there this summer?
It does have Lakers, just a slow lake.
