An AV receiver is the brain or the central processing unit of a home theatre system.
Without it, you would have rather limited options when it comes to entertainment options in your home theatre setup. Without an AV receiver, the home cinema experience would be lacklustre and boring. It brings movies to life and also helps you easily manage your precious AV components.
Key features to keep in mind when choosing an AV receiver for your home theater include paying attention to your connections. Making sure your AV receiver is ready for your TV. Choosing your number of channels. Finding the right amount of power for your space.
If you want to add music to other rooms, go wireless. Make sure there's enough room.
Now let's dive into how to connect the basic surround sound system to an AV receiver.
There are several common methods to connect an AV receiver. You can opt for HDMI® connection using the Audio Return Channel (ARC) feature (Preferred method). Alternatively, you can connect using an Optical digital audio cable and HDMI cable. You can go for connection using only an Optical digital audio cable. It’s also possible to opt for connection using only an Analog audio cable.
