The Yamaha Aventage RX-A2A, RX-A4A, RX-A6A & RX-A8A are new-age AV receivers with dedicated gaming functions such as support 4K @ 120Hz pass through, Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) and Auto Low Latency Mode.
All the 4 models support 8K @ 60Hz and 4K @ 120Hz video pass-through. They are equipped to take advantage of the latest HDMI technologies. The models support many new HDR formats and HDCP 2.3. The Yamaha AV receivers also support eARC or enhanced audio return channel that allows transmission of Dolby Atmos and DTS:X from TV apps or connected devices using a single HDMI cable.
As there are 4 models with different feature sets, input and output configurations, we’ll start with entry-level variants and move up to bigger options.
The first model is the Yamaha RX-A2A which is a 7.2 ch AVR that is rated to deliver 100W output on 7 channels. The AVR has 7 HDMI inputs and 1 output. Dolby Atmos, DTS:X and Dolby Atmos with Height Virtualization in the 3 models are powered by a new Qualcomm 64-bit chipset with SURROUND:AI technology that offers improved and more immersive surround sound.
On the surround sound front, all the 3 models support Dolby Atmos®, Dolby Atmos Height Virtualization, DTS:X® and Yamaha’s CINEMA DSP HD3 technology. However, AURO-3D is only available on the A6A and A8A.
All the 3 models sport 7 HDMI inputs with 3 HDMI outputs. The RX-A4A is a 7.2 channel model with up to 110W output per channel. The RX-A6A is a 9.2 channel variant with up to 150W output per channel. While the RX-A8A 11.2-channel with up to 150W output per channel.
For auto sound calibration, all the 4 models feature calibration microphones along with Yamaha’s YPAO™ R.S.C. technology for amazing output in virtually any space. The Yamaha RX-A6A and RX-A8A also feature balanced XLR inputs and outputs for use with professional audio equipment.

😀 "Dolby Atmos, DTS:X and Dolby Atmos with Height Virtualization in the 3 models are powered by a new Qualcomm 64-bit chipset with SURROUND:AI technology that offers improved and more immersive surround sound." Wow Qualcomm will be a game changer in these 3 Yamaha AV Receivers. Looking forward to hear these in-person soon. 😍🤗

I feel the Yamaha AVentage RX-A2A and the RX-A6A are good options. The RX-A2A for entry level users. And the RX-A6A for more demanding users but without getting too over board. Dolby Atmos and DTS:X are more of the needs right now and 8K video content is still very far away and most content is still in 4K and a also since a majority of users watch in OTT at 1080p resolution it makes sense to go for Yamaha Aventage RX-A2A with 7.2 channels of support.
