You know it’s weird. When someone makes a recolored fan character, they usually get some hate for it. When an artist at Sega makes a recolored fan character and puts it in their official media, the fans love it (I’m looking at you, Scourge).
The difference is that Archie Sonic has a multiverse. So when Evil Sonic is introduced, he fits right alongside all the other Sonic versions. THEN he became a different color due to permanently absorbing energy from the Master Emerald after being interrupted from going Super, which is also how he got the scar marks. This is why fan made alternate universe Sonic's get less flak than Sonic recolors: the former has a reason to be similar yet different, the latter is "Hey look, I made Sonic but the way I want him and look how much cooler and edgier he is."
At 5:27, what's more messed up is that in Adventures of Sonic the Hedghehog franchise (which was just shown in the clip), Tails was actually 4 and a half years old, while Sally was 17... The FBI REALLY was ready for that.
I love how the maker of the short in 7:44 basically used the way he made Nazo into a short and no one noticed it 1. He -stole- used the unused official sonic art of the character. 2. Drew it 3. Named it and gave it an origin story "made from negative chaos" 4. Gave him op powers Why did i spend so much time on this.

I drew a comic of the funny kiss thing , without getting the joke, when. I was like 11. I remember it involved Sally throwing her cigarette into the forest while telling Tails the dangers of drugs, and the whole forest catches on fire. Sonic.exe was in it too and he gets lit on fire too, and proceeds to run and scream in pain. I was a very special snowflake. I also thought the magic tampons were a real thing.
