What’s good my dude, I have the same Crystal black Impreza and I have been searching the internet like crazy to find a way to upgrade the engine on her. Does Subaru still make a wrx in a hatchback form ?... I want to eventually upgrade to the wrx but I’ll be a little disappointed if I have to give up the hatch door.
Vinchinzo Wilson they don’t make turbo hatchback anymore, but the 2.0i is what they use in the wrx, so keep your current car and put a kit on it, it’d be way cheaper, and you know, keep the hatch.
Great video Dom, I have a few questions for ya. Do you still own the car? if you do has it been reliable? and if you've had any issues can you tell me about it please. Reason being I am about to get one but I am in between the fence about it. I need something that I can drive till the wheels fall of as they say lol. Don't really know anyone with a subi so yea.
I picked up an used 2021 manual sport hatchback in 22 (saved myself at least $7,000 from the dealership) and it has seemed like an very well built vehicle with no issues so far. Other than being underpowered no 6th gear, and no sun/moon roof, I have enjoyed the vehicle so much that, I keep accessorising it LoL......🏹🤠👍
A couple notes on my Impreza since I’ve driven around 15k miles on it, unmodded, taking it to work and back: • Apple CarPlay screws with me too but I’ve always chalked it up to my case adapting Lightning to MicroUSB to be a portable battery. Found best way to remedy was to lay the phone down by the front cigarette outlet. My work Samsung Galaxy S10 doesn’t have this issue with Android Auto. I also run an iOS 13.1 beta with my iPhone X. • I have a Premium Impreza Sedan, which is automatic. I get around 34 mpg with a combination of highway and city driving. I also feel like the automatic is tuned to feel more like a manual so it’s jumpy at times. Kinda like the rain visor, gold stars, and the light color change, but I’d also need to know where to get these parts and how to install them
I'm looking at the 2017 or 2018 Impreza for my next car. How has the reliability been for you? Any mechanical issues come up? I know some earlier models burned oil, any issue with that?
I never push my impreza past 3.5rpm before up shifting, and usually try to run it at 2.5 Rpm; whilst down shifting at 2Rpm. Still adjusting to the revhang 🤣. Seems to work best totally letting off the gas, clutch, shift, off clutch, and slowly back on the gas. I almost never down shift (due to clutch wear) but pull it out of gear and let it drift down. Is this the same way you shift your Impreza?
2018 Sub Impreza Hatch Sport.... Haven't had any issues yet but definitely not close to 10k miles yet either. Only thing so far would be the dust on the middle dashboard. Its not that big of a deal or not at all but I actually like that it has a flat surface so I can put stuff like gps, bobble head, or any other mounting devices etc. in the future. Keep doing what you do, I enjoyed all your videos because not alot of 2018 impreza mod videos out there and you done a good job with good quality.
Also have a 2018 Impreza hatch with about 7k miles. I have all sorts of rattles coming from the head unit, vents, and who knows where else from. Dust issue as well, but at least it’s easy to wipe down. My only big issue is that my wiper cowl cover has separated from the windshield, so I have this gap where water and debris can fall into, anyone else have this issue? I’ve had the part replaced under warranty, but the issue is still the same..
not normal for apple play to not work when u hit bumps. that could be related to the sound in the dash, most likely the radio or something related to it loose and disconnecting when you hit a bump
I am thinking about getting a muffle delete exhaust for my 2017 Impreza. I just hate how I can barely hear the boxer engine sound. That might be my first mod.
This. All of this. I have a 2018 Subaru Impreza Sport. And it's crazy how similar your peeves are with mine. I have Android auto myself, and it urked me to no end when I first got my Impreza. Your way ahead of me on your mods, a few I just don't need to do, like the side skirts. But you got me looking to do the spoiler lift! Great video :) and don't hate me if I make some similar videos to share the love on modifying our children 😂
I have a base impreza 2012 and like you its very dusty i dont know why haha, also same problem with cheap plastic interrior that always squeeze, And proud of you for having it manual! Haha #savethemanuals
Hey Dom, 2017 Impreza here. The center console USB plugs are specifically to be used for music. Not sure if you've noticed, but the charge is also much slower than a normal charge you'd get elsewhere. All-in-all, It's very misleading. Instead, you'd have to buy a cigarette charger, or buy a cigarettes USB charger to throw in your lightning cable for your iPhone. Regarding the ACP, you may have to go in for an update. There is an active thread in the 5th Gen Impreza forum on this situation.
I get some rattling noise from my air vents on the driver side and middle ac vents on my 2017 impreza sport. Sometimes it goes away on its own or I turn up some music.
Sadly, not entirely. The 2012 to 2021 USDM Imprezas use the FB20 (2012 to 2016 use the less powerful FB20B, and 2017-2021 use the FB20X.) I haven't seen many noteworthy people turbocharge the FB, but the FA is used in the WRX. I hope to see someone push the FB20 platform to its limit, but that's probably not gonna happen any time soon
Nice mods and ride! Love the wheels. Our 19 Outback Apple Carplay skipped like that. My 19 Impreza does not but will not connect if I leave messaging open on the phone. But the Impreza drives like a dresm.
What I really want to focus on right now is the rims ......what’s the max size rims I can put on my white 2019 Impreza sedan base without touching the suspension....what rims would you recommend and what color ?
Well make sure the lug size is 5x100 I believe! Look it up to make sure. Also, I think you could go up to like 20 inch rims maybe even more. What color is your car?
We have a 2018 base Subaru Impreza. It needs has 71,000 miles on it. TROUBLE FREE. There are a couple of items that I don’t like, and many things that I do like. Don’t like. Start with the very weak engine. This car needs more zip. The competition will walk all over this car. Subaru should at minimum, is offer at least the 2.5 engine. 30 more horses would do wonders for this car. The second item is, get rid of those very stupid steel wheels with hubcaps. We lost 13 hub caps. We finally replaced the the steel wheels and bought some very nice aftermarket black wheels. Because the car is a base model, it comes standard with many black trim items, such as the mirrors. And the black wheels make this car look amazing. We replaced our tires at 60 thousand miles. And we put exactly the same continental tires that came in the car. We service this car every 6,000 miles. The owners manual states to replace the spark plugs at 60,000 miles. It is labor intensive, because of the engine is a boxer style engine. The dealer wants to charge 800 dollars for the 60, 000 mile service. Because of that expensive service, I chose to go to an independent shop that charged me 100 dollars. Is, just to let you know. I still own this 2018 Impreza. But now, I also own a 2022 Impreza. And what we did this time around, is we purchased a premium trim. With this car. We got wheels. We don’t have to worry about losing hub caps. But we STILL have this gutless little 2.0 engine. We are very loyal customers of Subaru. We also own a 2020 premium trim Forester. And all three of our Subarus, are trouble free.
Yeah I've got a 2017 Impreza Premium, I've got some similar issues. I've got a rattling/popping sound above my head where the dome lights are. It's infuriating sometimes. I've put out a bounty of $100 to anybody who is riding in my car and can permanently fix it. The black part of my dashboard also gets pretty dusty, but it doesn't bother me too much. Your apple carplay shouldn't be skipping songs when you go over a bump- it doesn't do that with mine. If you've got a buddy who also has Apple Carplay, see if their phone also skips music while it's in your car. It might be a problem with just your phone or something, idk. One thing that really, really bothers me about the infotainment system is that- for some reason- whenever you start the car, it plays the radio, regardless of whether or not you were listening to the radio the last time you used the car. And, because the infotainment screen takes a moment to boot up, I can't turn it off or turn the volume down until it is finished booting up. So I have to sit for ~5 seconds listening to static playing through my speakers at like ~33-35 on the volume knob. Additionally, whenever I'm listening to my music via Apple Carplay, and I unplug my phone, it decides to start blasting whatever other audio input I was listening to before CarPlay- which is always the radio. So if I ever am listening to music via my phone, and then I need to unplug my phone or if I bump the charger enough that it unplugs, I just hear the radio blasting static at the same volume that I was jamming out to my own music at. I don't know who at subaru thought "Hey, when someone unplugs their phone, you know what they want to happen? They want to hear static blasting through their speakers." Honestly I'd take it into the dealership and ask them if they've seen any problems like that before. It might be a common issue. And if they don't have a solution, it's at least nice to get your complaints heard. Do your brakes squeak? I'm only at 20k miles after just under a year of ownership, and my breaks already squeak, and I've got plenty of pad still. I think that subaru just threw on some budget hybrid brake pads, and so they squeak.
went from a 2016 getting 27mpg when I drove very aggressively and 35mpg when driving normal to a 2007 WRX getting 24mpg driving normal. Hahaha. Autocross season is going to kill my wallet when it comes to gas.
I know this video is a few years old, but I had rattling in my car like you talked about and I found it in three different places. The overhead light mount in the front of the interior, the knobs to the heat/AC and where the dash plastic meets the windshield.
You keepin it a secret, Dom? Really want to know what track you have playing when you show the car next to the water at the beginning. Btw I'm looking at sports and limited trim right now and yours just looks better the way you have it now. I'm jealous. Insane that you're doing all the DIY mods..cool as hell
I drive the exact same car just a different color and have a muffler delete and 2007 legacy wheels love the look, and also don’t have the squeaking in the dash I have it in the suspension though and don’t have the skipping problem with music, has about 19k miles and I recommend for car guys and family guys, you can make this car fast, and family guys you can make the car look good and for having one of he safest cars out there for cheap and be able to comfortably hold your family in it I highly recommend and another thing oil consumption is a problem for the first 2-3 oil changes but shouldn’t have that problem after that. If you do have consumption problems your probably driving it over 4-5k rpms to much.
Dude my problem with this video is it has little to nothing to do with the characteristics of the actual car. Think about all of the stuff you mentioned here, Apple play is Apple programming, the dust I guess I don't really know what causes that but I have that too, and all your modifications I mean who the hell cares this is like nothing to do with the car
i have the same car, i dont use apple play but i do use and amndroid carplay or what ever its called but it works fine no skipping, i get that rattle your talking about on the dash . the dust dosent build up that fast though that my have to do with the area we live in, im in so cal so i get less wind and less shit blowing in to my car when i get in and out of the car
Carplay skipping seems to be a problem with the phone: discussions.apple.com/thread/8416647 "I had a loaner 2018 Audi A6 and it did the same thing. This seems to be an iPhone issue and not a car firmware issue. What seems to help is closing all apps prior to reconnecting."
Cool mods bro, I drive a base model 2018 with a manual also. Hey Dom, just discovered your channel and I'm glad I found someone who has the same car as me and shows their mods. I agree they do get dusty and there is a squeak. My squeak sounded like it was coming from my roof light though rather than my dash- I haven't heard it in a couple of months though so I think its gone. My apple play doesn't skip on bumps though. Nice vids keep them coming man.
Love your car, I just got an Impreza recently. Anyone ever tell you that you sound like Bam Margera? Keep up the nice work. Much love from a Philadelphia living in Austin
Never had that issue, I hate the rev hang mine has. I’m 2 weeks away from having the extra funds to get my car tuned which I’m excited as hell about, the extra power will be nice but the rev hang and a rev limiter is my main concern.
Huh? You don't have a swiffer in your Impreza? I thought that came standard with the car.(J/K) I keep a Swiffer in my glove compartment all the time. That panel area is a dust magnet.
So when you "lending" it to ya mans?
Whenever you want bro, what’s mine is yours
"stay here, stay as long as you can."
What’s good my dude, I have the same Crystal black Impreza and I have been searching the internet like crazy to find a way to upgrade the engine on her. “you’re constantly just doing pulls, even thought the car is kind of slow”
😂😂😭😭
Correct! Lol
Itachi gunna stick you in his Tsukuyomi and make you learn his damn name.
Great video Dom,
I have a few questions for ya.
Do you still own the car? if you do has it been reliable? and if you've had any issues can you tell me about it please. Reason being I am about to get one but I am in between the fence about it. so i have the same problem with mine I have a 2015 impreza base and it just gets so dusty on the dash for no reason its wild
I am thinking about getting a muffle delete exhaust for my 2017 Impreza. I just hate how I can barely hear the boxer engine sound. That might be my first mod.
Does the dash sqeaking sound a little like running water or some kind of liquid? Mind does the same thing. It's very annoying
This. All of this. I have a 2018 Subaru Impreza Sport. And it's crazy how similar your peeves are with mine. I have Android auto myself, and it urked me to no end when I first got my Impreza. Same here, I just turn up the music
Thanks for the video! I was wondering what clips you purchased to install the mud flaps and if there was any drilling required?
Looks so good! I love the grill & wheel color!

With the CVT or manny tranny?
I know this video is a few years old, but I had rattling in my car like you talked about and I found it in three different places. The overhead light mount in the front of the interior, the knobs to the heat/AC and where the dash plastic meets the windshield.

"I had a loaner 2018 Audi A6 and it did the same thing. This seems to be an iPhone issue and not a car firmware issue. What seems to help is closing all apps prior to reconnecting."
Well that sucks
Cool mods bro, I drive a base model 2018 with a manual also. Mine constantly gets super dusty also, my theory is all the electronic wizardry=some sort of static cling effect with the dust collecting so quickly after i clean it. My favorite adjustment (can't really call it a mod) is that i turned off the hill assist. Annoying light on the dash but sooo much more pleasant to drive now. And what the eff with the squeaking dashboard in my brand new car!? I keep meaning to mention it to the dealer.
They are constantly putting out new updates for radios at Subaru, try that. My 2010 impreza's dash gets dusty as well. Have no clue why either.
Hey Dom, just discovered your channel and I'm glad I found someone who has the same car as me and shows their mods. I agree they do get dusty and there is a squeak. Thank you! I appreciate the support
cool car bro. btw he's itachi, not sasuke. 🤘
You have a gravel driveway? If so that's why it gets dusty probably
Hmmm possibly
You talk just like Tucker Upper. And I'm thinking of buying this make and model at a certified pre-owned place.
Long time no see
Finally
Happens all the time in my 2013
how you gonna forget the gold muff?!
My 2019 Impreza doesn’t rattle but yeah that apple play can be frustrating, gotta get on your level with the visors and side skirts.
Visors are easy man, do it up!
I hear ya but money is funny haha I will though
Great video. really like your mods. For the dust, try using a dryer sheet/anti static. May help with the accumulation of dust.
I bought one of those ionization devices and used an plug splitter. It seems to work.
Philadelphia=City of Brotherly Shove
The dust happens to mine too
Okay cool I thought I was just dusty
Bro yeah the dust thing... i feel youu😂
Love your car, I just got an Impreza recently. Anyone ever tell you that you sound like Bam Margera? Keep up the nice work. Much love from a Philadelphia living in Austin
Thanks bro!
Dude I have a 2019 Impreza and I absolutely hate that it skips a track off my IPhone. 🤦🏽♂️
Never had that issue, I hate the rev hang mine has. I’m 2 weeks away from having the extra funds to get my car tuned which I’m excited as hell about, the extra power will be nice but the rev hang and a rev limiter is my main concern.
I have the same issue with the dust on the dash with my Impreza. Maybe we should keep Swiffers in our cars!
Huh? You don't have a swiffer in your Impreza? I thought that came standard with the car.(J/K) I keep a Swiffer in my glove compartment all the time. That panel area is a dust magnet.
The subi shoots look really good!
I had mine since it came out 2018 , I thought I was the only one with dust / flake shit everywhere
