It's Kimbap! not sushi! There are numerous kinds of Kimbap having different fillings. I'll appreciate it if you call it its original name,'Kimbap ' , Korean cuisine.
@@dumdk1412 억까;;
@@dumdk1412 일본령 한국의 식민지국민들이 건방지게 컴플레인걸고 그렇죠? 뭐 대통령도 일본해라고 못박은 마당에 ㄷㄷ
I totally agree with you 👍
It's very delicious and I could tell that the rice was a bit different than sushi rice but they are both overall very similar. One of my favorite Korean dishes is bibimbap.
@TheVeganZombie Sushi's filling is mostly salmon cucumber fake crab meat and mayo as seasning and what not, simply said raw ingredients, on the other hand, Kimbab use cooked ingredients as fillings, and those are various countlessly😁 You once it both, you'll know the difference and preference 😊
Sushi usually features raw fish, seafood, vegetables and rice seasoned with sushi vinegar. The name 'sushi' refers to this vinegared rice. Whereas, kimbap rice is seasoned with sesame oil and doesn't contain raw fish. Instead, kimbap fillings include meats like grilled bulgogi, or cheese, kimchi, ham and eggs.
Very similar to sushi but I could tell that the rice was a bit different from the vinegared sushi rice I often make.
👍👍👍
Kimbop is Kimbop
@@TheVeganZombie You've kicked a hornet's nest by calling Kimbup sushi. I know you didn't mean it but you've offended every Korean who watched this video. Anyway, good to know that you liked it.
Perfect information.
It's not a "Sushi", it's called "KIM BAP" Sushi is a Japanese food and KIMBAP is a Korean food.
Kim bap originates from Japanese sushi called Futomaki. And Americans are more familiar with Sushi. I don't see anything wrong with calling it sushi as Americans are more familiar with Sushi.
It is like being upset just because you called Japanes Curry just "Curry" because they are Japanese.
Either way, it's very similar and it is delicious!
@@abcde4677 I just explained that gimbap and sushi have different ingredients and different names. You need to know exactly so that you don't have to do ridiculous things like looking for "gimbap" in a "Japanese restaurant" or "sushi" in a "Korean restaurant".
@@abcde4677 Koreans are the first country to eat seaweed with rice In conclusion, futomaki also influenced each other
It doesn't matter what comes first. It's a food that's been re-cooked under the influence
@@abcde4677 According to your logic, sushi is Southeast Asian, ramen is Chinese, tonkatsu is Austrian, tempura is Portuguese, yakiniku is Korean, and curry is Indian. According to your logic, Japanese food isn't much.
Gimbap is basically salty taste seasoned from its ingredients. And also it is not a sushi, but just a kimbab.^^
So there's no reason to need salty soy sauce,
Even in Korea, gimbap is not usually dipped in soy sauce.
However, it is dipped in a wider variety of sauces.
From simple mayonnaise to tteokbokki soup. This is the way to enjoy it more.^^
Yeah, it was very tasty with the mayo sauce I made here.
What surprised me the most when I went to US and Europe was that Westerners call all types of Japanese rolls 'sushi'. Sushi is a completely different food.🤣🤣🤣
Sushi is usually a form of rice seasoned with vinegar and topped with raw fish like a hat.🍣 In Japanese food, the rolled seaweed form is called maki, not sushi.😉
It may look similar to Japanese 'maki' or 'roll', but 'kimbap' is completely different from Japanese in terms of ingredients and recipe.🤔
Anyway, thank you for enjoying the kimbap!😍😍
There are so many different types of kimbap in Korea, so if you have a chance to come to Korea someday, make sure to try a variety of kimbap!👍
I am Korean and also lived in Japan. I want to shout at everybody in the world.
Sushi is a term for vinegared rice.
So whatever it contains, if the rice is vinegared it is sushi.
Now seaweed-rolled rice is a form of sushi. There are several types of seaweed-rolled sushi. Futomaki is a type that contains various ingredients that makes the roll thicker. This Futomaki roll was intriduced into Korea 100years ago when Japan controlled Korea.
Since then we've been innovated this food to a lot diiffetent way in every corner of Korea.
We don't vinegar on rice and no fish now for this food. But still we use Takuan(Japanese pickle) which strongly proves this was originated from Japan.
Even this Kimbap is now popular in the USA however we should respecful to Japan who invented this roll.
Like pizza became famous in the USA yet it is an Italian food.
I am glad we are a country who spread this food to the world yet I appreciate Japan coz this food is from there.😊
너 뭐냐???
Additionally, Japanese sushi should be eaten with soy sauce, but Korean gimbap is already seasoned, so sesame oil is applied to the outside instead of soy sauce to add a savory taste.
First, I would like to inform you that it is a translator. If you eat the surface of the defrosted kimbap with a little bit of sesame oil, it will help you get rid of the fishy scent and feel the savory taste even more.
Kim(Gim 김) = seaweed
Bap(Bop 밥) = rice
I've tried the Trader Joe's Vegan Kimbap microwaved. It is delicious and tasty. I would definitely buy it again. It is so filling too. The seasoned tofu in it is yummy.
Someone told me it tastes much better when you put sesame oil.
@@davidhan9979 Thanks. I ran out of sesame oil. I will have to try it next time...maybe with a little salt in the oil too. Yum!
Korean seaweed is the best. Japanese eat seaweed a lot, too.
But even they prefer Korean seaweed so whenever they go visit Korea, they make sure to bring as much Korean seaweed as they can back home.
Just bought the kimbap yesterday, excited to try!
kimbap is very common picnic food in korea. Calling kimbap > sushi is like calling pizza > pancake something like it
설명 굿
Kimbab ❤ from Korea
One of my favorite Korean items.
It’s pronounced Geem-Bop ❤
Not bop but bap
Geem-Bap. Kim is pronounced Geem.
@@mkim4091 Thank you 🙏🏽
Frozen kimbap tastes much better when cooked in a frying pan rather than in a microwave. If you microwave it, moisture will form in the kimbap, making it much less tasty.
I think kimbap can be compared to hamburgers in Western cuisine in terms of portability.
It is a food that was developed to be taken to picnics.
Dang! I was just at TJs in San Pedro, Ca and forgot to look for the KimBap. Glad to see your review is positive and it’s something I can easily bring to work for lunch.
Kimbap = korean food
Sushi = japanese food
The name is "Kimbap"
taste good 👍
korean traditional food.
I’m glad you tried a few things. I was curious about the kimbap. It’s always served at room temperature. I’m excited to try it. The ravioli too.
Yeah the manufacturer said he imitated the techniques used in tuna freezing (fast freezing) to make the taste as optimal as possible when microwaved
They are thinking of adding a packet of sesame oil inside in the future
Thanks for trying a promoting our chocolate, Chris! 🙏
Sushi is rice with fish ...
Those are vegie Kimbop from South korea which I have had since 5 years old
Well close but sushi is vinegared rice with fish and or veggies. I could tell that the Kimbap rice was different than sushi but overall it is very similar.
That kimbap roll definitely looks good👌I'm gonna have to check for it on my next Trader Joe's trip. The ravioli as well. I've haven't had Hercules chocolate 🍫 yet, I want to try it. Yes👍 dipping chocolate in peanut 🥜 butter is the best. Pretty much the perfect combination 👌😋
YES! Looking forward to watching this! 🙏🏼
Thanks for the taste test Chris!! ❤️😃👍🏻👋
I had this about 2 hours ago as well!! So yummy! 😋
Sushi = contains raw fish on rice and it's Japanese.
Kimbap = contains seasoned rice with sesame oil and salt with various vegetables and meat and it's Korean
....as you probably know by now. Lol
Hey Chris thanks for the update always appreciate showing the new products coming out for my vegan journey. ☮️🩵
Thanks for this review! I like to have an idea of what I'm getting, especially as prices keep going up🌱
Hercules Candy 🌱🍫🙌
I've only seen good reviews for the kimbap....I'll try it this week. I DO already love the vegan spinach cheese ravioli by TJ's...I like it with marinara sauce. THANKS for this review Chris! Darn, just got back from my TJ's....no kimbap here in Naples, FL til October they said!
There are many kinds of kimbap in Korea with tuna, kimchi, meat, egg etc
It's totally different with sushi
Japanes foods also has similar food maki but it's simmple than kimpab
It doesn' t matter just enjoy kimbap or sushi or maki 😊
Thanks for the taste test I like them they are very helpful 👍
Sushi is Japanese food and this is kimbap
Kimbap is the soul food of Koreans❤ Kimbap is a Korean food
Sushi means with fish on top of rice, Japanese. Kimbob is from Korea.
The plant based fish filet is the best I’ve ever had
Yes, those two new products from Trader Joe's are unbelievable!
Gotta get me some of that Kimbap, checked yesterday at my local TJ's, not yet.....
Chris, eat'n the foods. I like seeing the ingredients. Not that I can get those things, here, but ya never know. We like seaweed, here. Lucky for us.
Koreans usually put cold kimbab in egg and panfry it. It tastes good
It is Kimbap. Kimbap is absolutely different from sushi.
Rice in kimbap is already seasoned... you don't need soy sauce as if you are eating sushi.
Hey!! You can make Kimbap at home. just all you need is Kim& any other ingredient you want. For example, I put eggrolls, Kimchi, some vegetables, adding some cheese etc. It will be very fun and easy way of cooking with children
It all looks so delicious
It kills me whenever he says sushi. It's kimbap!!!
I love stir fry Kimbop both side brown!! Delicious.
You're not supposed to have separate sauce for kimbap though technically you can even dip pizza into soy sauce. And it'd be nice if they also sold kimbap with some meat in it.
You're doin the lord's work my dude 🤙
Both look great, but so far, my Trader Joe's doesn't carry eithre of them. They do have the Vegan Pasta Bolognese, but since they include mushrooms, I am guessing that Chris hasn't tried them.
Sprinkling sesame oil or perilla oil on it increases the taste by 100%!
초밥이 아닙니다. 초밥은 생선을 밥 위에 얹은 일본 요리의 이름입니다. 김밥은 한국 요리입니다 It's not sushi. Sushi is the name of a Japanese dish with fish on top of rice. Gimbap is a Korean dish
Sold! I need to get to Trader Joes now lol.
It's not 'SUSHI'... It's 'KIMPPOP'...
'SUSHI' is Japanese and totally different FOOD...
KIMPPOP doesn't need any source
It was good with the sauce!
Thank you so much for sharing Chris I don't have a trader Joe's we're I live 😢
Great taste test video as usual. I’m sad my Trader Joe’s is an hour away. I’ll have to make a special trip, especially for that kimbap.
you said kimbap is like sushi. that means sandwitch is like hamburger
Brushing sesame oil on top of seaweed is bomb
Sushi literally means rice with vinegar normally balanced with soy sauce. otherwise gimbap doesnt have vinegar so gimbap with soy sauce is weird.
It is different from sushi. It is Kimbab
Kimbap, like sushi but different. Got it!
If I'm near trader Joe's again I'll look for those. I love sushi, so I'm sure I'd like kimbap.
Dip gimbap in egg and fry it. Then it tastes much better.
Why don't you try sprinkling a little sesame oil on your kimbap. The taste will be twice as good.
It's the best if you put sesame oil on it👍
1:48 Follow Your Heart makes a Chipotle Vegenaise that is supremely delicious.
냉동김밥 계란 묻혀서 후라이팬에 기름넣고 살짝 튀겨서 먹으면 훨씬더 맛있어요
I am eating the bolognese ravioli while watching this video 😆
It's not a sushi like as Kimchi is different from pickle.
You have to pronounced Gimmbop. I also rather choose 10 hour expiration over Joe's Gimbop which is made in S.KOREA frozen and shipped and has over 1 year expiration date. That's tons of MSG in Gimbop.I rather go to Korean market and get Korean Ajumma early morning prepared tasty fresh Gimbop. Get it Korean Ajumma Gimbop when
store is opened.
All veggie. Perfect👏
kimbap is not sushi, don't deep soy source. it's like pineapple pizza, americano, grind spagetti...
That is not sushi, Kimbap.
It's 'KIMPPOP" KOREAN FOOD!!!! It's not 'sushi' !!!
Yes, I know it is Korean, I literally read it off the package on the video. It's very similar to sushi with the rice being prepared differently.
The ravioli are good in a pinch. Not sure how I feel about frozen kimbap. Can’t go wrong with the vegan chocolate!🌱🌱🍃💚
The Vegan Zombie!
I'm a writer of a UA-cam channel that reports positive responses from overseas related to Korea.
It's called "위대한 언니" May I ask your permission to use this video as a reference? If you allow it we will use 5~6mins of your video, and will introduce your channel name, and put the direct link on a fixed reply. I'm looking forward to your positive response. Thanks. :)
I love a little bit of ginger and Wasabi paste too! With soy sauce!
Yes, the ginger and wasabi are necessary!
Yes absolutely 👌
It will be even more delicious with sesame oil.
김밥에 간장?이라... 낯선 조합에 맛이 궁금하네요~ 일본 스시처럼 먹는게 신기하네요~
Went looking for the sushi at my local Trader Joe's in NJ and was told it was wildly popular and sold out in two weeks. They said they would get in more, but they didn't know when.
Hopefully soon!
It's not sushi. It's Kimbap. You don't dip Kimbap in soy sauce. Kimbap is Korean. Sushi is Japanese.
No sushi
I'm in Korea
I want to try the gimbap they sell there
I saw an interview with the ceo who made gimbap
They reproduced the gimbap they made in Korea
I think it'll be delicious ^^
Is this Sushi?
Sadly, there's not a Trader Joe's within 100 miles of here. 😭
$4 with a healthy meal. I will take it.
You know that even though
Sushi and Kimbap looks similar when you gotta do a review then you should used the right term.
It is like telling American to Canadian because they just look similar.
Now if you gotta say it is the same then Ramen should be called Chinese noodle and so on.
Sushi X kim O
I'm going to have to schedule a road trip to Trader Joe's soon. That kimbap looks very intriguing and you can't go wrong with ravioli 😋
ITS NOT SUSHI!!
You must not eat kimbap with soy sauce.
That sushi looks good but the "corn syrup" and "cane sugar" ruined it for me. I wish these products weren't so high glycemic but I am grateful they're vegan in the end.
shusi is raw fish. no fish at all . u r saying all noodle is pasta.
Can't eat sushi without wasabi and ginger slices😁
"not sushi." just kimbap. different country different food different ingredients. if you want to tell sushi "dont tell sushi when you eat kimbap." just eat raw fish sushi... its definitely okay. its never forcing you just recommend vegan zombie. have a good day
That looks like cool looking sushi. We love the raviolis. Thanks for sharing you review of these fine products.
Not susi but kimbap
Kimbab is Kimbab!
김밥에 소스를 뿌려먹다니... ㅎ
The only way to get $4 sushi where I live is to make it at home. Damn, $4 sushi rolls sounds way better than $15+.
방한 하는 외국 연예인들은 김밥에대해서 언급이 별로 없었는데.... 신기하네
I actually love warm sushi. Trader Joe’s is stepping up their vegan game.
Not susi but kimbap
Sushi is never warm
스시가 아닙니다 김밥입니다
