I just inherited some coins. I found a 1964 Kennedy half dollar..... BUT, it has NO tear-drop on the "4" as stated.... oh well.... the search goes on! Great video, thanks for sharing!
What caught my attention on this video is the coloration of my coin has the orange toning like that coin, along with the sharp ridge. I don't have a microscope or magnifying glass to examine the 4 is the only issue. I'll have to pick one up. Thanks again for the info, I'll look into it.

Thanks for this information. I may have this coin, but because it cost money to get it graded ($30 and up), I will just sit on it. If the coin is not rare, it wouldn't be worth money to spend it. It would be so much easier, to take a picture, and attach it, to these collectors in an email, to see if it's even worth it to have it graded. If a person takes a picture of their coin, with the newest smartphones, they can make the image bigger, with better clarity to make a recommendation, to see if it's even worth having it graded. I would even be willing to pay a small fee of $15 or $20 (above the value of the silver that is in the coin) to see if the coin could be worth it.
In later die states is that little piece of metal dropping from the 4 less apparent like not as high off the field. I have a Denver and a Philadelphia coin both Satan, but only the Philadelphia has a small raised drop off the 4 in that exact spot. Is there any other die marks or diagnostics you can share.? Ur own research is they way to go or if u have a trusted person and NVR go to a pawn shop. These ppl try to screw ya without lube.

i have a 1964 half dollar are they normally worth lots or do they usually run cheap? my coin doesn't have that little tear drop under the 4, it is in the original in memoriam case
It is worth melt value. Right now it has about 6.50 or so worth of silver content inside of it. Unless you have one that is in good/great condition, you can sell it for at least that much. Maybe a bit more.

In 1964 the mint produced both the unc set and also the proof set. In all of my trading , buying and selling I have never came across an SAS 1964 set. SAS sets weren't produced until mid 1965 when enough people complained because of the lack of a set from the mint. This was was "fixed" by the mint by coming up with a SMS set where the coins had a slightly higher polish, but other than that there really wasn't that much difference between the SMS and a set you could put together with circulated coins . So I am not trying to be rude or mean or even a troll, but I can't find any information or reference about a 1964 SMS .

Now as far as I know the 1964 was the last year that the mint produced a regular mint set and a proof set . Then 1965, 1966, and 1967 they produced the SMS strictly to satisfy the collectors out there. But getting back to the subject , the 1964 had only 1 variety , and that was the accented hair on the top right side (as you look at the coin) right above the part line. So as far as I knew there never was an SMS for 1964.

If you listen to the vid, he said it was experimental, he even don't know why it was actually made or even got out but it did and only a few were made. If it was auctioned off at Heritage House then it must have been checked out at PCGS for grading and authentication, otherwise it would not have been auctioned off at Heritage House.

I have one with a tiny number 51 on the face cheek looks a bit strange,..also errors on the letters on the back where the stars are...and the stars are bursting through the lines.....I Believe someone special owned it....it not filthy but not very very clean either.....I'm curious so I'm gonna get it checked out

I have one 1964 and 1971..given by a us navy a long time ago.. The husband of my mothers , mother I just kept it..plan to sell it someday..
