Hi Stu, I know this is an older video but found it very helpful. I was wondering if you had any suggestions, when practicing this asana I get pain through the front of my knees mostly on one side. I cant get my head all the way down yet without dropping down. I am aware that my thighs aren't strong enough yet, do you think the pain in my knees is the strain being transferred to the knees seeing as the thighs aren't strong enough? Do you have any recommendations for strengthening the thighs in order to achieve this asana? Thanks!!
So Laghu Vajrasana inherently demands leg strength. Specifically rectus femoris, quads & knees. Now , LV does strengthen the knee but it also exerts an equal amount of pressure on the knee. To avoid the excess knee pain you need to work with the concept of progressive overload. So initially do not go down too much. No need to touch the head to the floor. Go down only to the point that your knee can handle the load. Then gently work on progressively going lower over a period of weeks & months. All this while be conscious of how your knee is responding. Little by little your muscles will have time to achieve hypertrophy and eventually you would have achieved enough leg strength to touch your head to the floor.
Thanks Stu, very poinful observations about this demanding asana🙏. Best regards.
Thanks a lot. For the first time in my life I am made to believe that I will be able ro do it after making some attempts..
Thanks Stu, I have been working on this asana for several days, this is really helpful.
Such a great, informative video on Laghu Vajrasana, thank you Stu! Will hopefully help me build the strength to get the 5 breath hold I need :)
Thanks Stu, this was very helpful and so informative! Thanks for sharing your knowledge :)
Thankyou so much 🙏
