I've welded and done steel fab, as well as done mechanics for well over 20 years but very little sheet metal work. I think that type of work is a craft, and you are definatly one of the better ones on you tube. Most of the people doing sheet metal fab at your level are my age (57). You are amazing to watch I learn something from every video. Thanks for the awesome content Carl.

Anyone with little or no patience could learn a lot just from watching. The way the video is speed up at just the right time shows results, yet the whole video isn't high speed, so the comparison can be made.

This was one of the best videos you have put out !
I have seen guys try to make unusual corners and or bends in some screwed up way and the work they did looked screwed up.
Your talent, wisdom and ability working metal is Master Craftsmanship.
The parts you turn out are just so well done.
You mentioned you might need a bit of Bondo for the finish but it looks to me like you will need very little if any at all.
Maybe a little glazing putty and you got it !

I love the look of a radically chopped car like that but my head is all but scraping the roof on most vehicles the way they are, and I don’t like having the seat super low either so I could never drive something like that but I really love how they look 👍

Morning Karl, all I can say is "WOW", I've been a metal fabricator/machinist for 40+ years, I'm still learning, since I've been watching your videos (& a couple others) things like chopping tops etc. don't scare me, that's coming on my 31 A project, I will update you with some pics on Instagram soon

I must say that i am amazed and in awe of the work you did on this corner shape. This single spot has ruined more top chops than any other. It is the absolute worst task in the whole procedure and you have nailed it. The 16 gauge panel should be a big plus here because you really need all the strength you can get at this joint. The top of the door is going to continually be exposed to strong forces from the closing of the door and it needs to be strong in this joint. I like the way you emphasize the importance of the door's inner structure here. It is also vital to keeping the integrity of the door intact due to the inertia of that big door swinging open and shut. That is a big door and it is going to have a sizable piece of glass in it when finished. All that weight is going to put a lot of stress on the joints between the window frame and the body of the door. The way you have pieced this together will result in a strong door that will stand up to the wear and tear of driving.
This is my favorite build series!
Ahh that class in Texas *so* nearly lined up right to break my trip to Seattle and do something fun, but not quite - a week adrift! So near and yet so far :)

I like in your videos, albeit sped up , that you show yourself just looking at what you are planning to do , the observation of a project is the foundation of the starting point . If you don't know where you're coming from it's hard to get where you want to go.

Beauty, Karl! Hey, when you have to do a wood form, soak it in a bucket of water for a few hours before heat. Then if it starts to char, toss it back in the water for a few mins & continue. It'll cheat you thru many times for onesies-twosies. (Steel, of course, is still sweetest). Rock on! 🤘😎🤘

I love your work, and recommend so many people as your explainations are so easy to understand. I would make one suggestion I have discovered however. When cutting for a butt weld latter, I don’t cut to a square corner. I always where possible add a rounded corner, as I find comers get too hot when tig welding.
Loved the video as always. The effort you put into making parts in order to make other parts is awesome. And you take the time to redo stuff multiple times if needed-which is something I’ve been trying to apply to my builds. Awesome job as always

Helpful tip is use a hard wood for shaping and soak the wood in water if you need heat material

Great job! Those corners flow perfectly with the rest of the window frame. Probably not a bad thing to have them made out of 16 gauge either, that's a good spot to have a little extra strength.

If you have a truck and trailer repair shop locally, they can be a good source for hardwood. I get laminated offcuts that they use for the trailer flooring. Nice, thick stuff. Works well.
