I Had A Bad Ayahuasca Trip in The Brazil Amazon 🍵 (
Вставка
- Опубліковано 21 кві 2022
- You could say I was looking for a revelation. I had come to Manaus, Brazil's city in the Amazon Rainforest, looking for answers. The indigenous tribes of the area were known to provide a certain kind of medicine when looking for enlightenment -- ayahuasca. Before continuing my journey in Brazil, it was time to untangle the knots in my brain and reach my true inner self.
Or at least, that was the plan.

PS. Thanks to Pedro for volunteering to help fix my Portuguese subtitles! 🍻
Sab, make sure you don't miss Minas Gerais State if you have the time, best food and very friendly people, visit Diamantina or Ouro Preto if you can, jah bless
Literally quite the trip
😇🙏🏽🛐🙌🏽Lord have mercy. Please stay healthy & safe, Sabbatical ! Thank you for sharing your experiences & including “disclaimers”. It’s the “Responsible Anthropology Way”, God bless you & keep you !🙌🏽🛐🙏🏽😇
Thanks Pedro
You are welcome in Maranhão.
IF You go to Minas Gerais check São Thomé das Letras.
This series doesn't get enough love. This is the way these types of adventures should be. no camera crew, just one man and his connections.
Exactly this is made in the present moment with a lot of love and empathy
Not that it’s so many UA-camrs and things to watch on UA-cam. I discovered him today by accident and I like his content a lot
Right. Living in the moment letting your eyes 👀 be the camera 📷.

Really enjoy these videos. As a 21 yr old from Australia who is completely introvert and has never left their comfort zone for almost over 6 years, one day I wish to explore just like you.
Mate get out of your comfort zone. When you face fears is when you feel most alive. A life lived in a comfortable bubble is a life not lived. It doesn't have to be some mad adventure. Things like riding a motorbike, skydiving, water skiing. Anything that makes you feel scared and gets that adrenalin pumping will do. It will also help with confidence and make life feel more interesting. Fear, doubt and worry stop us from becoming our true selves. Don't start tomorrow, start now my friend. You are the only one who can make the change. All the best
@@SomeoneWhosNearby thanks, dude. I am really trying! As I no longer want to live that way.
@@LostNdFound434 happy to help mate. Don't worry what others think about you either. In the whole scheme of things their thoughts about you mean nothing. There will always be those that discourage or try to belittle you. They are the ones with issues, not you. Start slowly doing things you fear. It might be crowds, it might be communicating with others. Ease into it then when comfortable with that move onto the next challenge. Keep continually challenging yourself and before you know it you'll have overcome that fear. Take care
same, I'm also a 21 year old shut-in who lives vicariously through these travel vlog videos. have never been to a party let alone traveled on my own, lol
Feel the fear, but do it anyway.
It has already started. When you notice the nature around you more intensely, like you did. Much love from S Africa
"A man's reach should exceed his grasp or what's a heaven for?". Your journey is your revelation. Thanks once again for bringing us along.
Tommy Sabbatical unlike your name , you just dont stop, we love you work man, you are a true gent and super humble , we at Wason World seriously dig you dude .
Looks like an amazing trip. When I was 15, my dad took me on a local commuter boat down the Amazon from Peru to Manaus, where we spent a few days. We stopped in a few small villages in the Amazon. So, I know how amazing your trip must've been!
I thought u meant u tripped with ur father at 15
😂
😅😅😅
Did you and your dad do Iyawaska?
@@turkeysammich1059 No
I'll be honest here, when you started speaking Swahili I laugh very hard, I thought "that's the good stuff". Less matako than previous vid. But so much education. High quality video has been received, as usual. Thanks a lot Tommy, have a nice one.
So cool seeing the gas station on the water, reminds me of a childhood memory I have being out on the ocean that I havent thought of in a really long time. So thanks for that
There was a gas station on the ocean/sea? Cool! Where was that?
❤️
Man I love your channel. I’m from Brazil and in these videos your making me learn more about my own country. That’s awesome! Keep doing that
I´ve been experiencing with Ayahuasca for a few years and what happened to you is quite common. That is the very reason you normally do 2 days in a row because most of the time the first day is just cleansing the body and the "life changing" experiences come on the second day. Not an absolute rule but it tends to work this way. I hope you give it another shot because it really is life changing!
Is it only 2 days? I thought 3 or more sometimes? I didn’t know it’s common for the first day to be a lighter experience. I really hope I can try one day but only when it calls me 😆
@@UntangledKnots if you go to the jungle it can be longer but in most places it’s Friday and Saturday and the you can use Sunday to “land”. Everything I say here are general rules but normally the first day tends to be no as intense because of the cleansing of the body.
I like to not drink alcohol at least one week before and not have red meat at least 3 days before to help the process.
@@lebroucke ah I see. Yeah I’m not into taking things recreationally, only for learning/healing and I think I’ll need at least a week for landing cause when I smoke I stay high for 2 weeks lol
@@rbct that's why I'm scared to do it bc I have heart murmur and vsd. That's the only reason. I want to Tru dmt tho ❤️
Exactly, my breakthrough was on the 3rd ceremony (dying on the first 2) and haven’t purged ever since lol
Very enjoyable, no one seems rushed or clingy. Apparently you are a congenial guest. Really enjoy your exploration.
Lived in Brasil 3 years....spent a lot of time in Manaus with some Ayahuascero friends there. Took it about 30 times in Manaus, Acre and Rio de Janeiro....'ll never forget those times. Best to you my friend.
How would a foreigner from the states seek a shaman for a ceremony? Would appreciate your insight thank you.
@@BB-mq9qk hard to say. My first big adventure with Ayahuasca was in Rio but lost touch with those folks...next was far western Brazil in Acre. We just showed up in Rio Branco and asked around for Igreja Santo Daime (Santo daime church), Barquinha group (little boat group) also the Kaxinawa people are very into the indigenous side of it. It worked out great and people are very friendly. If you go to Acre be warned that it is the heart of Brazil and very few speak English. I was working in Brazil and speak Portuguese so language wasn't an issue. Some basic Portuguese will get you far. Even some Spanish is better than nothing.
@@stumpshot70 thank you for taking time to share your advice.

Life itself is a big enough trip, especially when you are open to everyone and everyplace like Tommy is.
I've been following you about a year by now along with a handful of other UA-cam travelers including Simon, Matthew (Ras Kitchen), Kurt Caz. I find you to be much better versed on your locations and along with being entertaining, more educational than the rest. Not surprising ayahuasca didn't do a lot for you considering that you already have such enriching experiences in your travels. Thanks for the run down on what you described as the "up front cost". Considering that anyone who would try ayahuasca probably already knows about the potential to vomit, the crappy effect of the first 'medicine' they gave you is probably not well known. Keep up the good work. I think your vids could be a nice addition to school curriculum.
If you don't already know, Jason Billham is also a pretty good and a 'bit different'😉
Out of all the you tubers i can think of and/or follow, you are the most perfect for a trip into the Amazon for a trip on the ole Ayahuasca!!!
No sense in denying it bro...lol
Thanks, I think
@@SabbaticalTommy Yes,that was a compliment for sure. I do feel as if you may have not received the full experience though. I have not done this myself but i have seen other people do it and their experience was mind bending and 10x what you experienced per your description. But you are so right. Much better ways to get to where you want to go without the pains and bonds. I actually had a 6foot deep snow bank try and eat me my first time when i was just 17 years old back in 1987. The next day was so different and the first day to the rest of my life!
You don't seem to have too many knots up there; or at least the normal amount. Keep up the great work and the love and positivity for one another you have shown us!
You'll never be the same, in a good way. Although you are already very awake.
Lmao. Did you watch the video?

doesn't everyone?..
Tommy is the only UA-camr that I watch all the commercials on his channel to the end as a way of supporting him.
Hey Tommy, i'm Brazilian and i like very much having experiences with different types of entheogens. I study very much about it as well. There are some things that i like to comment about what you just showed to us, sincerely i don't know how they allowed you to drink alcohol and even offered it to you, because alcohol blocks so much of what an a spiritual experience on entheogens can give to you. In traditional and serious tribes of indigenous people you would have to stay in there a few days, without eating meat, without drinking alcohol and without smoking anything, cleaning out your body, is an physical and spiritual purifying ritual before taking the ayahuasca so your trip can be way better, then you would "connect with the trees and with your ancestors". In these traditional tribes the ceremony occurs in groups and the xaman does all the preparation and application off the rappe and ayahuasca, also the xaman play instruments and sings traditional ayahuasca espiritual songs since the begging to the end of your experience. People that had the experience with the true traditional ayahuasca tribes really achieve the ego death, spiritual life changing experience etc... It's just sad that you expended some money, time, and expectations to have the experience you had, unfortunately many tribes here in Brazil do the ayahuasca ceremony for the money and not with the real purpose of cure and self discovery.
true words!
Glad you made these points.
Happy Easter Tommy from a fellow Irish Catholic.
Sou Brasileiro, curti bastante seu video um grande abraço
O cara perguntou porque as pessoas pintao a cara , porque são índios ué kkkk
I'm really impressed with how well you pick up different languages. And your travel style, it's great the kind of places you go and interacting with regular locals.
No way! Saw the title & am stoked!! Amazing morning 🤙🏽
Hell yea
Ayahuasca will only show you what you are ready to be shown. Just like all other aspects of life we put our own "placebo" effect to it. Ayahuasca came into my life after overcoming mental illnesses and it showed me what I was ready to learn at that time. This was in 2014 and watching your video reminded me of where I was back then and where I am now in my spiritual journey. Keep doing what you are inspired to do. Become more aware of what life is really teaching you about who you truly are. And you will certainly have a more enlightening experience with Ayahuasca in the future.
Pretty much comes down to the dose, people like to say that, but it's just really hard to dose Aya when brewed traditionally, two or more different plants with wide ranges of potency two plants harvested right next to each other at the same time can have anywhere from 1-4x the potency, then there's the brew itself, how much water is added and how much you drink, so many variables effecting potency. Extracting and making your own with measured doses of the DMT can consistently produce profound experiences. I get you though, I believe you get what you need when it comes to psychedelics, but if you do methods with measured doses you'll find a lot more consistency.
The drug itself is a placebo…
Can it help with depression?
he just needed a bigger dose
It has been 2 weeks since your last upload. i hope your doing fine man! I must admit that im a bit worried lol

How nice to see you here in Brazil, I like the honesty and simplicity of how you show your experiences, Brazil is a place of exuberant beauty and riches (including its people) that contrasts with poverty and violence, you probably already noticed, enjoy the stay!

Just want to say gracias for giving us all glimpses into the different cultures and to show what simple lives a great number of people have. Unfortunately impoverished yet , personally, it is among these folks (in general) where I find lots of compassion and humanity. Somehow more approachable and more present. You’re doing great work. Thanks man.
I’ll See you on the gringo trail.
I notice in other places specifically South America people are a lot less keen to blame ones position on another’s skin. Here in America you almost open your self up for problems if you befriend impoverished.
Impoverished in some ways but rich in others..Rich doesnt have to mean $$.. the guide has a beautiful family. It's a simple life not for everyone
Empobrecido é quem vive preso dentro de um apartamento ou de um escritório na frente de um pc ,vendo a vida escorrendo por entre os dedos
@@brianjschumer true that we as americans can sometimes suffer from being birds in a gilded cage, we look at the little these people have and assume we live better lives in reality sometimes they are more fortunate as they have closer relationships which is essential for humans

I think a lot of theses guided trips at tourists destinations have figured out the liability and serve low doses.
yes I too think the same
Yes probably, but it don't seem doing the same with the rapè xD
Why do you say that?
Ayahuasca isnt really that strong.
@@thejokersmokerlike all entheogens it actually depends on the dose you have

Don't feel bad you didn't get the experience you were hoping for the first time though, man. Ayahuasca doesn't always give you the "trip" you are looking for (depending on DMT content, other substances you might have in your system, and your expectations). Also, alcohol does lower the effects.
You definitely need to try it again.
Or you could just get some crystallized DMT and smoke a few hits; then you DEFINITELY will get the experience you're looking for haha.
I hope you continue your journey with it.

Tommy, quality trip. Really felt the emotions. Keep up the great work, time to find the jungle juice !!!
Most of the time Ayahuasca doesn't work for people or meet their expectations because there is the expectation in the first place.
We live in a world where doing Ayahuasca is like following a trend on TikTok, most people do not need or better yet are not ready for the healing properties of Ayahuasca but they still seek it for no real reason except for the belief that they will be cured or reborn.
Ayahuasca calls you when you least expect, you don't seek it because it is more powerful than you, me and everything in between.
I have taken the sacred medicine ten times and each has been when the medicine has called me, I have experienced not one bad 'trip' or ceremony.
Hi Tommy. I hope you are ok and not lost somewhere in the Amazon jungles. Please post something short so we know what's happening.
