Norma 9mm Ammo - Is This "Cheap" Range Ammo Any Good? 4-Gun Shooting Review - Would I Buy More?
Вставка
- Опубліковано 7 вер 2024
- I found Norma 9mm on sale and picked up several hundred rounds of this FMJ ammo. Velocity, accuracy and reliability are tested through four different firearms. Is it worth $12.99 a box?
Came here for the ammo review. Got to see a badass picture of a blister beetle. All my bases are covered.
Norma Ammo was the only company that had 38 special ammo during the toilet paper zombie Apocalypse back in 2020
Gold Mine Zombie was a nice touch! Gorgeous location too!
Agreed
I bought 1000 rounds of Norma along with the Glock 17 he was selling..shot it all, had zero malfunctions.
Right, it is good. Try AIR AMMO-they are out of Texas !!- they are great.
Norma isn't a "discount" brand. They are a legitimate manufacturing brand, I would say equal to Winchester or Remington. They've opened shop in the States recently.
Was the powder burning clean or dirty? I’m asking before I buy them in bulk.
I've never used Norma ammo but have always read that their components and ammunition are high quality. Thanks for the review.
👍😎
That Zombie 🧟♀️ was unexpected. Great shooting as always.
Same here!!!
You do first rate reviews..... never let us down. Thanks
Now owned by Beretta I have shot some in my Glock 17 works great. I enjoyed the video the ammo velocity was close to advertised. That is a nice area out there secluded and relaxing.
I bought a case of Norma .38 special a couple of years ago, mostly because it was ridiculously inexpensive. I never had any problems with it, but the price shot up. 👍👍👍💥
Damn Blister Beetle got me when I was a kid. I was sleeping and it crawled all over me. I was about 8 and I was one sick kid. Don't mess with them. They're little monsters.
1:24 "Foreign components" doesn't mean China. It means Sweden.
Norma is a Swedish company with quite a bumpy relationship with the US civilian ammo market. They left it some years ago, then they came back, then they left again, and finally they came back abt. 5 years ago. Their hunting ammo could be a bit expensive sometimes, but their 9mm FMJ ammo is quite affordable even by today's wierd standards.
Mixup98, Sir, it would be very interesting to see your review of the Maxxtech 9mm ammo. It's a fully mil-spec ammo made in Bosnia. German Bundeswehr used this manufacturer as a source of a reliable and inexpensive ammo for years. About a year ago, they hit the American ammo market. This ammo is not marked as P+ or P++, but it's definitely more powerful than your regular Federal or Remington 9mm ammo.
I will shop around and see if I can find some Maxxtech 9mm ammo and I will do a review if I find some. Thanks for the suggestion.
maxxtech is good stuff, ran it through my springfield xd well.
@@mixup98
Thank you so much!
@jtns2845
This ammo runs extremely well through PCCs, especially ones with the "fun switch".
@@mixup98….Maxxtech….. you can find it in 500 rds of 45 acp in brass case with free shipping for 219.00, AND 45 acp steel case and in 9mm at, centerfiresystems on line.
Good to see the velocities on box was accurate, I have these in 9mm and the 380 version because they were on sale. Norma is notorious for exaggerated velocities on self defense ammo, sometimes by 100s of fps.
careful trying to reload the brass. The flash holes are under sized and often off center. Will destroy most "normal" decapping pins. Reloaders beware!
Idk I have a lot of the 7.62x39 Norma Tactical I have 5 reloads on a 100 pieces of it. Zero issues so far but I will keep my eyes peeled on future pieces.
Bad batch? Maybe the 12:99 price is reflective of that…
Thanks for the warning.
I ran into this issue with their brass some years ago.
I don't know what it's like now.
Fun stuff! Thanks for sharing!
God bless all here.

A few years ago my local gun store stocked Norma .556 ammo, at right around ten bucks a box. I stocked on some, but alas they don’t carry it anymore. It runs real well in my Ruger AR 556.
I always look forward to your videos, by the way!
It was a good reason to create the video. The arms and ammo all worked as advertised and we had fun along the way. Exactly why I like your channel!
Norma has ALWAYS produced great ammo. In some harder to find calibers especially.
Good morning Sir and Son, great to see yous. :) So I have never shot either a folding, or take-down rifle; it is remarkable that they are so accurate. But then you make accurate anything you two shoot with. Have a great weekend y'all and stay blessed.
God morning ericlee. We always like hearing from you and you also have a great weekend my friend.
Well now this was a interesting video and. a interesting test. I feel the same way about Norma ammo I have always liked it but most the time it's just a little too pricey. That 50 yd accuracy test with those carbines was some really good shooting.
Thank you David! 😁👌
I have 4 Taurus weapons & that Taurus you used today will be my next mainly because of it being budget friendly, easy concealable, and good reviews like the one you gave today.
You won't regret it, my dude. I own one and it's a friggin chef's kiss.
I have a couple g2c pistols and that I remember I have never had a jam of any kind with any ammo
Fin Feather Fur had Norma 380, $12.99 for 50 rounds here recently. Now they have 7.62x39 at $12.99 for 20 rounds. Have some of both but haven’t tried it yet. Thanks for the review!
Is the 7.62 brass cased?
@@Salieri47 yes
I bought mine at Fin also had a very poor experience with the 380, talked to Norma and had no type of customer service at all. I usually use CCI Blazer and never had an issue.
@@Jmg7580… i had no problems with the Norma 380 ammo in the wifes S&W 380-EZ or her ‘Firearms International’ mini 1911-380 …..it even ejected just fine out of her Charter Arms 380 revolver😂
I bought a case of the 115 grain 9mm back during the ammo shortage and have found it to be 100% reliable and accurate just like you've demonstrated. I've also had good luck with the .45 230 grain ball ammo. If I had a gripe (and it's not really serious), it's that I've found the ammo to be a little dirtier than brands like S&B, AAC, Blazer, and Sterling. For the price, I don't mind a little extra cleaning!
I picked up some .22 caliber Norma pellets, both regular and heavy round nose, when I bought my Diana Stormrider PCP air rifle and at the sale price they were about the same price per pellet as inexpensive .177 pellets. Quality control and uniformity was excellent, and I cannot recall any pellets from any other manufacturer, including RWS and H&N, being that free from defects or deformities.
My first group after sighting in the scope was a single round hole at 10 m, about 0.10 inches c-t-c. Best group I ever shot. That air rifle likes the heavy Norma pellets better than the standard weight ones and with that kind of accuracy, I haven’t felt the urge to buy up multiple brands to compare since it is a near-certainty that I’m not going to do better than with the Norma heavy .22 pellets.
Always had good luck with Norma ammo. Normally very expensive, so this price is amazing. Good to see you two having fun!
I've not had any issues with norma ammo , their 9mm , 38 special, 45 acp and 556 , I haven't used the 22lr in a few years . They used to be waxy and sticky , and I bought alot of blazer 22lr 500 rounds ,when some of the dicks sporting goods were getting rid of firearms. The zombie was a fun touch, and your son got a sweet picture of that bug. Great to see you two out together
I just shot a video on Remington Thunderbolt ammo and it should be posted tomorrow. I might to a Blazer .22 video in the future. My son and I hade a lot of fun making this video and we thank you for taking the time to watch and comment on it.
I bought a lot of Norma near and during end of the ammo panic. I will always have high regard for Norma ammo as they were instrumental in bring prices down to fair levels after the ammo panic. They led the way in lowering prices and others followed. Even their primer sales when they had them were far lower prices than others. And they did not charge Hazmat fees to the customer. Awesome company.
I was also very happy to learn about Beretta acquiring them back when it happened. So I continued to buy from them. And as promised, they have expanded the operation and released even more new products, with major production.
Coincidentally, today, I received an email from Norma that they are now producing and selling shotshell ammo. Wow, great job.
Norma has a great history from before Beretta's acquisition too, going back 100 years in Europe (Switzerland? I can't remember), and more.
Their smokeless powder is long respected as well.
I obviously cannot say enough about them. Good choice by Beretta Holdings to buy their American ammo operations.
I would have been expecting snakes in that old mine, didn't know zombies hung out there 😂
Believe it or not I have been in dozens of mines and caves and I have never, not once, found a snake in any of them.. I have found bats, toads, lizards and spiders but not snakes. .....which is a good thing 👍😁
.38 spl Norma (semi wadcutter) was issued to Irish Police Force (An Garda Síochana), when they carried revolvers.
So presumably if you're in southern NV snooping around in caves, don't go into a cave without a brightly lit fire torch and packing a big caliber.
I can’t tell you how much I really look forward to you both doing these. Great stuff and obviously great ammo.
Well, seems like it goes 'bang'. Never bought any of this stuff, but apparently it's decent. Thanks for spending the time and money to bring us these reviews. They're excellent!!
Excellent video. A good mix of everything.
👍🙂😎🇺🇸
Thanks for doing these reviews and keep them coming please.
Some well-executed editing at 5:42! Nice work.
I've been using it since probably 2020. Apparently no one else was buying it. Ammo prices were nuts. I picked up 5 cases from a shop by my mom's place at twelve fifty a box.
I had seen the shop also had Norma 7.⁶²x39 in target and in tactical loads. Maybe twelve bux a box, so I bought a lot of that and had them ship it. Great ammo. Very consistent and equal to the load data on the boxes.
PS forgot to mention Norma also offers a 9mm 124gr non-expanding hollowpoint that they market as match grade ammunition. It absolutely is that. Seems it was about the same $
I bought 500 rounds of Norma 45acp to shoot through my M&P 45 shield, really good ammo.
So far the 7.62x39 Norma tactical stuff I got close to 2 years ago is doing great. The first firing gave me a 2” group at 100 yards. So far I have 5 reloads on this brass with no issues so far. Only thing I wish from it is it was small rifle primer instead of large rifle primer.
Excellent video. We buy the 380 version as practice ammo. It is the least expensive 380 ammo we can find. For 9mm practice we use 124 Blazer brass. The Norma is very reliable. It is slightly less accurate than PMC. I carry the Norma 9mm Megalithic Hollow points when I carry a 9mm. I have seen the negative reviews but it feeds reliably in all the guns I have tried.
I love the Father/Son videos! I’m happy to see you survived the Zombie!
👍😎 😁👌 💀
Hey Mix! Love when you and Jr take us out into nature and show us around. Are you still doing the Mix and Son outdoor videos?
Cool video many thumbs up. Yes the pics are cool. He took great pictures.
Great shooting with some nice ammo at a good price! PS Some one in the old gold mine cave didn't get there Snikers Bar. Thnaks for the video.
I just don't see Norma ammo around here in suburban Philly. Nor do I see any gold mines either ..... Nice review on the ammo. Its remarkable how much velocity a rifle barrel adds to the bullet.
I liked how you accuracy tested the carbines. I put a 4X scope on my Ruger mk4 .22 pistol out of curiosity, I'm getting half inch 3 shot groups at 25 yards from a bench and hitting a 8 inch steel plate at 200 yards.
LGS in Virginia had some of this in 124gr. on black friday for $210/ CS. That is 10.50 bx.
Great video :-) I was hoping somebody would do a review on this Ammunition as I have seen it in one store not far from me quite often lately. The price was a couple dollars more a box but still that’s not a bad price for quality ammunition that goes bang every time.
Holy Smokes. That's a good deal. Norma 9mm same 50 box is 25 bucks here. I'd be grabbing another 10 boxes for sure
Great video guys.
Nice to see the PC Carbine love. I need to go zero the Vortex red dot I put on mine. Watch out in those old mines, you never know what you'll run into! I'd rather run into a zombie than the 5 ft. rattler I ran into inside one, once, when I was a teenager. I had the skin for several years, but like many other things, it disappeared while I was away in the Army.
Great video. Loved the zombie! I reload everything I shoot so I'm not interested in buying, but it does look like good ammo.
Love your work. Thanks for helping me forget the madness all around.
..your son has a good eye..used'ta be a really avid photographer until my stroke 22 years ago ..photography, shooting, collecting and reloading were my passions...
Great work. Appreciate you both!
Seems like you found a really good deal, works great! Awesome video with your son Sir!
I've used Norma many times it's great quality ammo 9mm and 380 it's 2nd to none even their rifle ammo performs well
"Yeaaahh"
There's nothing to add to this statement. 👍🏻
Love the father and son videos ❤ God bless you both
I have used a lot of this stuff in .38 Special and .357 Magnum ( over 1,000 easy) and its always been good. Used the 9mm some, mostly in my Beretta and Styer, 500+ and they always worked good for me, Good training ammo from my shooting experience. I bought a few thousand of these a few years ago and I am happy with them🤠
Hey Mix Up 98 and Son, I love your videos, and I am going to have to try to get some of that Norma ammo, I carry a Taurus G2C, normally shoot Blazer 115gr, without a hiccup, never tried the 124gr, anyway I always look forward to seeing your next video, and love your location, keep em coming
Good ammo test and fun video, thanks
I just picked up 100 rounds of Norma MHP 9mm ammo for $7.99 a box. It has cycled perfectly, in my Glock 19. It was on sale and was cheaper than FMJ practice ammo.
I have the same Ruger PC9 set up. Nice gun and red dot combo.
What a video mixup. Keep us entertained 🎉
I did not expect velocity to live up to advertised from a handgun. They usually do not. Thanks for the review, saves me $ testing it myself. Norma is quite often one of the cheaper 9mm brands, so it's good to know what to expect!
Great shooting Mixup! I want to see you shooting the 43x!
I can vouch for the G3X being a great budget heater. I bought one two years ago and ran over a few hundred rounds through it without any issues. I love mine and wouldn't trade it for anything.
bro you have no idea how much i love your channel subbed 4 years ago and it delivers love and guns and ammo
Great review
MixUp I really enjoy your shooting videos!
I find when removing the primers from 38spl Norma brass I had to adjust down and tighten the primer removal rod as some primers were really stretching before being popped out. No problems putting new primers in though.
Really enjoy your videos. Keep it up!!
Always enjoyable content.
I think I’ve had good luck with Norma in a few calibers in the past. Looks like it’s brass jacketed or washed instead of copper. A lot of foreign ammo looks like that. BrassMaxx is another one I remember.
Good review as always! I have the Taurus pt111, which a lot have commented in the past that didn't like the trigger. I, personally like it, as it has a short reset, for follow up shots, plus the restrike ability! Combines the best of both single and double action triggers!
Where I'm at, $12.99 for 124g isn't too bad.
Great video. Thank you.
Gonna have to look for that Norma 9mm ammo locally. My Remington 9mm likes the 124 grain FMJ loadings best. Accuracy and function looked good. Nice video. Stay safe out there.
Is that the rp9? I have one, and it also likes 124 grain the best. Probably due to it's heavy slide😂.
@@jeffwilson1217 R 51. It's a very reliable shooter - no jams or other malfunctions ever, but it just seems to be more accurate with 124 grain FMJs.
@@SCSlimBoiseID awesome, I also have an r51! And the rm380. All have been extremely reliable. I got the r51 mainly because of it's unique design, but it's become one of my favorites.
@@jeffwilson1217 Same here, re: the R51's very attractive design. I bought one of the "Gen 1" R51s and it was a POC from the get-go. I sent it back to Remington in exchange for their 1911 .45 ACP. A couple years later, they reintroduced the R51 (Gen 2), which had supposedly been reworked to address the issues inherent in the Gen 1 production. I'm not sure what they did, but the Gen 2 runs like a fine watch - never a hiccup, digests any kind of 9mm ammo I put through it, and it's accuracy is decent, as long as I do my job behind the sights. It's a favorite of mine too!
Good one. Love the cave scene.
Thanks for another excellent video!!! I really enjoyed the extras and as usual you guys are a hoot 😀👍👍🇺🇲
Long time no see ... Always appreciate yer stuff ...
Thanks! I will have a new video posted tomorrow....hopefully!
Great video like always!
Good stuff Mixup!
I like the Norma frangible ammo. Haven’t had a single issue with the few cases I’ve shot through various firearms. I really like it out of my carbines, as they are mostly blowback, and it’s a super soft shooting round.
Good fun video. I agree most of time Norma is high but when I do find it at a good price I get some. Even have good results with thier 22lr ammo as well. Take care
I like the fact that specify for range shooting to me that is the perfect ammo for self-defence, accurate, not allow point but fine with me
Nice job as always. Thank you.
I'd like to see the velocity of that Norma ammo. I've bought Norma before tho and it has always run good in my guns.
I’m glad you had a good result with that ammo. I recently picked up a case of it to practice and qualify with. Great price and I’ve had good results with their hunting ammo so I went for it. The 9mm range ammo didn’t do so well for me. At least one fail to detonate out of every magazine load. I ran it through three different duty and of duty pistols to be sure it wasn’t the gun. Same result. Very disappointing
As a cheap plinking ammo aficionado I would say Norma is one of the best cheap ones. Shoots just a touch dirty but nice power behind it and reliable stuff. Other brands in the same price point either burn dirty like Max tech or are loaded way to lightly like ammo inc. For the cheap stuff Norma is g2g.
Now I gotta go to my big box store and see if this is on sale. 😅
Not a bad deal at all on some range 9mm ammo. I've used some Norma ammo in the past and I may even have some in .45ACP. I also like the Taurus G series and I have a G3C that I've done some fun modifications with.
Great review and Great shootin' - Thank you!☠💯💀❤🩹👍!
Like the fact that it delivers the claimed velocity.
That round duplicates my 9mm carry rounds...
I was als surprised at how close the FPS was.
Most of that Norma is a reloaders nightmare, they have a small primer pocket & the decapping pin gets stuck . Norma is the only ammo that has done that.
I don't remember shooting any Norma ammo. But it looks to shoot good. Thanks for the video.
The 23 round magazine in the S&W carbine works fine in S&W M&P pistols if you take the sleeve off the magazine.
There 22lr ammo runs good suppressed it runs about 1100 feet per second. I also ran through 1000 rounds of 9 without any problems. Thanks for the video.
i had a terrible experience with norma 22lr ammo. i sent split cases and box to norma, no reply in return.
If only you had remembered to bring along a box of Hornady Zombie Stopper !!
I bought some JHP for 9 mm. They were pretty underpowered, but I didn't have any malfunctions.
I have some...seems to shoot a little smokey but it goes bang
