As far as I can tell, sumo.pia.jp is probably your best bet. Japanese site: sumo.pia.jp/ English site: sumo.pia.jp/en/ I don't know anything about the process, though. I'll pin the comment so others who might know are more likely to see it and chime in.
The January basho will take place in Ryogoku, Tokyo. Tickets are usually sold through a website called Ticket Pia, but for tourists, you may be able to buy tickets that include lodging on other websites.
It really was such a WTF thing that Mitakeumi went all 15 after the fall he took, I would have loved it if he got 8 wins, woulda been such a hero story
I think Mitakeumi hurt his hip, not his shoulder. After the fall he had a lot of bandages on his ass and in the last few days he fought without bandages, and you could see a big bruise. I feel like Nishikigi has problems with his left foot. He doesn't seem to put a lot of weight on it. Shonannoumi is quite literally the biggest guy in the top division, but he barely seems to have any strength. It might be because of his thyroid problems, but we don't really know.
I had suspected Hosh was still bothered by his hip at the start when he was putting up wins with more traditional yorikiri type sumo, but he went so hard on those uwatenage afterward that I guess he decided he was doing well enough. Still wouldn't mind seeing him diversify his game a bit, but I do love an uwatenage.
This was my second tournament, so I've still got a lot to learn. I was one of those cheering Shishi on! It's a shame he did so badly but watching him it was obvious why - his tachi-ai were terrible at the best of times. He was far too nervous and soft in approaching the other rikishi.
Is it just me, or is Roga a one-trick pony? He goes for that front mawashi grab and that's about it. Barely looks like he knows any other technique. Thanks for the great work. Had a lot of fun watching.
At this level, that can apply to a lot of guys. Refining a style to where it can work at the top level of the sport is time-consuming, to say the least. So, I don't want to pick on Roga too much for that. But the guys that maximize their potential do figure out how to apply different styles, and I agree Roga is probably at the point where he needs to do that to get any further.
Big fan of the sumo food crew and it sucks to see Roga being mid. Someone mentioned that his stable mate Nabatame "might" overtake him at some point. Part of me believes that.
@@HistoryGeek4U I was introduced to Sumo because of Sumo Food, I always saw Roga as The Guy before I seen any basho til the Nagoya Tournament. It kinda sucks that he just decent/even.
I rate Roga as a conventional belt wrestler who used to fight above his power level but is now ok in the top division because he got a bit stronger. He doesnt have any special skills but doesnt make many mistakes.
@@sumospiffysbarandgrill You're absolutely right. It's quite unfair to criticize him the way I did when he's far from the only one. I have to admit that Sumo Food turned me biased for him and his stablemates. I kind of disappointed watching him doing OK, while Takerufuji is on a whole other level. I'm a big fan of both. Thank you for your reply!
Not speaking for spiffy. But the reason I hate Ryuden is that he kept breaking Covid protocol to meet with his mistress while he is married. He then knocked up said mistress, and demanded that she abort the pregnancy against her wishes to cover his tracks. But he got caught anyway
great. you take a lot of time to research and analyze, consider going one step further and getting the pronunciations to sound closer to japanese. would be happy to help out... no styrings attached
I am in fukuoka, how can i buy the sumo ticket at january basho

I can't get enough of Nephewryu making That Face at 8:41

Yeah... as long as he didn't suffer anything permanent in the process.
Oh yes, the video I've been waiting for all week. Much appreciated!

spot on, i would have made these points if you hadnt already
Also his shiko basically wasn't, he could lift his leg
Thanks for the vid!
I think Shodai was my only truly correct prediction. And that just hurts double.

lol, Nishkigi WFK. I picked him for my fantasy game.
loved the Metal Slug sounds :)

Thanks, I like when you do more performance analysis and not just "tier level" talk.
Abi was very impressive. I was hoping he would get the upset win....
I love how wrong you were about Hoshoryu. I tried to tell you 😂
Kirishima ran my KC score into the ground.
It wasn't too bad; he was only two behind Daieisho. Onosato, incredibly, was a much bigger drop-off.
Man you did hiradoumi dirty 😅
Why do you dislike Rhyuden so much?

Yeah, basically that.
couple instances of criminal officiating...
