I own one. Your observations were perfect. I’m riding the diesel for more than 12 years. Now it’s my leisure weekend bike. Riding at 60km is also not that easy. Few points to add, 1. To be able to reach 80kmph, you might need to replace the front sprocket with a bigger one at the expense of reduced low end torque and increased gear shift difficulty at low speeds. 2. Not good for riding in a hurry. I have once broke the engine bed just due to the vibration. The vibration of the engine is so heavy that it will crack the engine bed weld joint. (This engine doesn’t sit perfectly on the RE chassis, so there is an additional member between the engine and the gearbox. 3. Clutch should be in very good condition to be able to climb uphill. 4. To be able to feel a smooth ride, engine should get heated up to optimal temperature. Sometimes, I let the engine idle for 5 minutes for that. 5. If you ride the engine at higher rpm for longer time, engine gets heated up and like a baby it will start crying. Piston will expand, in that time if you happen to stop the engine and try to start quickly, you will have a hard time. You should let it cool for sometime so that the piston contracts and friction reduces so that you will be able to start. 6. Should ride with an extra load to feel the thump and torque. 7. It’s awesome for low end torque, not for speed. 8. It’s engine is so heavy and mounted so low, it’s CG is very low, it won’t let you fall easily and stick to the road like it’s pasted to the ground. 9. Engine braking works so well that you can stop using brakes except for quick stopping. 10. Diesel riders don’t like to switch to petrol and vice versa. It’s like a religion. 11. No two diesels are the same. Every diesel owners maintains the vehicle differently that the feel of starting and riding will be very different from one over the other. 12. Company launched diesels with 6.5HP engines, but 5.5 and 7.5HP units assembled outside and endorsed are also available. 13. I recommend idling the engine after cold start and also idling before stop after long run to keep the engine in good health for longer.
Riding for last 14 yrs.. from 8th standard.. have fallen only two times.. have not injured only bumper damaged.. 7.5 hp top speed -100... Chain tooth need to be changed to 19.. from 17.. haven't used 1 St gear for last 6 months due to more rpm

I own a original 1996 diesel bullet. And yeah this is the most rugged bike you could ever lay your hands on. But still i love to ride it everyday. Once you get used to it... You'll always pick this one over any other ride. Trust me cus i do it everyday.
