    Showing some high percentage moves in a situation that is often neglected or misenterpreted by other martial artists. Excellent! Using "bridge&shrimp" (no. 2) escape when opponent is trying to better her position and leaving out "bridge&roll" (no. 1) will add even extra reality note to your training. Well done!

    Just wanted to offer a quick "well done!" on an excellent series of videos. I've been practicing muay thai and bjj for a decade now, and have managed to glean one or two useful new tips from this series. Also, I'm recommending that all beginners I teach reference your videos at home to internalize techniques I teach in class.
    Furthermore, I feel like I have to comment on the numerous other comments regarding your training partner. I've noticed on several of your videos that multiple youtubers have seen fit to call her attractive, hot, etc. In contrast to this reductive, objectifying misogyny, I wanted to thank you (and her, more importantly) for demonstrating that women can be skilled and effective combatants, not simply eye-candy for basement-dwelling internet trolls.
    Cheers!

      Thank you for your comment, Robin Marks! And it's an honor to know that another martial arts professional would deem our videos worthy to be shared with his students. Working on much more quality content for you as we speak! And thanks for the message to my partner, I will definitely let her know. All the best :)

    You did those escapes really well. It's the same ones they taught me in jiu jitsu class.

      Thanks, Matthew. Those are common techniques indeed, time tested and true. The next step would be to do these against progressively increasing resistance from the top. Will be working on more content on this in the future. Thanks for watching and for your comment! - Patrick

    Nice job. I'd replace either the feet over the shoulders or 1 of the pop up insert knee escapes with framing on her legs and shrimping out the back door. It is highly complimentary to the elbow escape and the trap and roll. I don't think I've ever seen a white belt pull off an insert the knee escape unless there was a big size/strength difference.

      Good point, LeAnn, and thanks for the comment. Indeed, this video is due for a remake, probably in a couple months. Some escapes are definitely higher percentage than others, and they do work best in certain combinations. Will be sure to include some live sparring analysis and pressure testing as well. Thanks again! - Patrick

      Yes, indeed. We'll be working on an online academy in the future. First step is to have all our tutorials up and running on UA-cam, and we still got lots of ground to cover!

      Thanks for the feedback. Indeed we are going for more of a modern "martial arts" look, rather than MMA, since our main purpose is not to prepare fighters for the ring, but rather give tools for people to develop themselves, by increasing their skills. Many of the techniques we teach can also be used in MMA, though. It's a bit of a new concept, so it will take some time to catch on... Thanks again for your comment, stay tuned for much more good content!

    • @EffectiveMartialArts
      @EffectiveMartialArts  6 років тому +1

      Thanks for your comment, and good question, Matt Mosley. Indeed, this one is only a last resort escape, when all else fails and you are getting beaten to a pulp on the bottom of full mount. You are taking a chance at defending your back from the turtle, knowing full well that there is a risk of RNC. It is important to pop up to turtle quickly and explosively, and fight the hooks for this one to work. It should also be coupled with a quick turtle escape (check out our turtle video for these: ua-cam.com/video/9TW_kNiMuuU/v-deo.html). It is high risk, but if you are about to get knocked unconscious, it might be the only chance you have left. Definitely try the other escapes before though. Hope this helps.
