    I've had my grandmother's machine forever and I have no idea what I'm doing. When you pulled that tray off I was flabbergasted. What is A feed Dogs Lever. Lord Jesus.

    I’ve had this machine for over a year and finally decided to get brave and learn how to use it.
    Yours is the first video I’ve watched and has already made me feel comfortable enough to touch the machine. Thank-you!! I’ll keep pushing forward and learning with your videos.

    I love this sewing machine, I got this model in 2001 but I also have the 385 model from 1987. Best mechanical sewing machines. I found the manual online, but your videos have helped me understand the machine better, thanks so much!!!!

    Thank you for this! I bought my machine YEARS ago, wanting to learn how to sew. I took a class and prob tried a couple of times YEARS ago (prob a good 15-20 years now). Now I am dusting it off and trying to do this again and your tutorial helped tremendously since I am very visual. THANK YOU< THANK YOU!!

    Thank you for this video. Very demonstrative. I got gifted a sewing machine and have never touched one before, so this was very instructive.

    Wonderful video! I love how you demonstrate how each part moves/works, not just pointing it out. I’m learning to sew and this was really helpful. Thank you so much!

    Just found this video while trying to use a machine gifted by my grandma. I’ve casually seen my whole life so I know enough, but this was so helpful for this specific machine! Thank you!!

    Thank you so much. My Husqvarna suddenly died, sparks and smoke coming out of the site where the power cord goes into the machine. Luckily I had this Singer but I was totally familiar with it. Thank you for the info where all the buttons etc are. Much appreciated.

    I am so glad I found your channel. I have a 385 that my husband bought for me about 2005. I did not understand it so I just kept it in box. I have brought it out of hiding, trying to see if it can handle bag making thicknesses. Your videos are fantastic and have helped me learn so much.
    Can you explain more about the pressure foot pressure lever, and what setting is best if I am trying to sew through four layers of vinyl? Thank you for your wonderful teaching!

    • @whatsshecreating
      @whatsshecreating  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks so much. So glad you are moving into Bagmaking also! For bags you would place the pressure adjusting lever on 3.
      Check out this video also on sewing heavyweights and bags. This is the perfect machine.ua-cam.com/video/X-ioWgShbtg/v-deo.html

    I have one that was given to me and all i have ever sewn is patches on my sons work pants and they only pass because they are work pants lol. I started having issues with my top thread getting stuck somewhere below the tensioner and around the U part and it will sometimes break the thread or pull it out of the needle. Any idea what i should look at?
    I started searching for videos and found yours and have learned so much. Thank you so much.

    My aunt just gifted me this sewing machine she’s had for years! I just decided to try it out and it seems like the fabric is having a hard time “feeding” I can manually feed it and it’s fine but the minute I stop pulling it through the fabric stays put. Any suggestions??

    Is that model #385.16130200?? If so that's the one that I have that I bought at Sears when they were still in business, mine has to be at least almost 20 years old but I barely used it, since you made this video two years ago can you tell me when and where you got yours? Thank you so much!

    • @whatsshecreating
      @whatsshecreating  7 місяців тому +1

      Yes it is! Someone gifted me this machine. So not sure about its beginnings. It probably originated at Sears.

    I bought a machine second hand and it is missing the spoon holder. Can I use something else or do I have to order a spool holder?

    • @whatsshecreating
      @whatsshecreating  3 роки тому +1

      You may be able to get by with a wood dowel and e6000 glue. I’ve never tried it though. Otherwise, you could order the piece online.

    I noticed you are using a plastic bobin mine has a metal am I doing something wrong?

    • @whatsshecreating
      @whatsshecreating  2 роки тому +2

      I was told if the inner casing is mainly plastic you should use a plastic bobbin. For the first ten years I had the machine I used metal bobbins. I think using metal bobbins all of the time will cause a mechanical issue afterwhile. Thanks for viewing and writing!

    I received one but it won’t sew, it was missing the plate and I ordered one it still won’t sew neither will the hand wheel move, any suggestions why this can be?

    • @whatsshecreating
      @whatsshecreating  2 роки тому

      I would suggest cleaning the machine because lent may be an issue. I have a video for that. I would suggest oiling the machine because the internal mechanism that allows the hand wheel to turn may not be lubricated. I have a video for this. If these do not work you may need to get the machine serviced at your local sewing machine repair shop.
