I came to love DJJ, and although I'm disappointed he isn't returning, I have no problem whatsoever with him never wanting to be 'a bench player' again after finally breaking through as a starter. Wish him nothing but the best.
Djj didn't keep it 💯. Facts are he heard klay was coming but the ego got to him and coming off the bench isn't what he wanted. He could've just said he wanted to be a guaranteed starter
Dj couldn’t hit a shot in the finals, also he wasn’t guarding anybody. Looks like he was happy with winning the conference. No championship mentality. Good luck DJ thnx for the contribution.
I don’t get some of y’all , saying he selfish or his ego , Really ? If you don’t believe in yourself , no one will . Secondly… why wouldn’t a professional want to start ? That’s not uncommon , most players want to start unless they are not a good player . I’m a MFFL but I’m not going to knock any man who makes the best decision for himself regardless of my or any bodie else’s opinion .
Most anticipated opening season of sports in any kind of season opener , and I'm a Cowboys fan , this the YEAR people, I've been preaching to anybody that will listen, MAVRICKS WORLD CHAMPIONS NEXT YEAR .
In all honesty a championship for most role players is just a bonus on their so so contracts. Few role players are worried about their legacy since they aren't REMOTELY considered star caliber. It's extremely smart to take the money where you can in that case, DJJ won for his family 💯
I wish him well, it's a shame not to see him with the Mavs. That being said, I think Naji could be better for us. I do wonder with 3 people being changed how the locker room and on the floor synergy will look like. If it clicks, I don't see most teams having a chance.
DJJ isn’t a spark plug though. He’s just not a 6th man. He goes back to a brick layer without the starting lineup. Naji is more of a spark plug 6th man.
The difference is Klay is a much higher caliber player than DJJ will ever be. Not hating, just stating facts unless DJJ magically improves his shooting numbers by a lot. His defense isn't enough to make up the gap between him and Klay even though Klay is much older and declined
Klay has more finals experience. Klay will be able to teach his young teammates because of his experience. Klay at a smaller role will be big help and can shoot open 3's, or atleast teams will not leave him open, which will open up others for 3 or cut.
Understandable reasoning from djj. He wanted a starting role since he improved in Dallas. We also know that Luka makes role players look insane so let’s see how good he will be as a clipper. Also I’m not happy with klay as the starting sf.
@@NotSubair and you’re somebody who doesn’t understand that roles and tasks exist for each player of a team. It’s the same in football. @@NotSubairlook at reggie bullock Finney Smith dinwiddie pj washington gafford, they are all players that delivered less without luka. And not a little bit less.
Small forward was clearly the spot to upgrade DJJ is a great defender, but he didnt really bring much on offense. An occasional great dunk and a below average 3 pt shooter. He had to catch the defense slipping to go inside, not powerful enough to force it. Would have been great off the bench, but we needed more offense in the finals to be competative. Also needed a to improve from 3. So, sorry to see him go, but we will be better now.
Love DJJ for everything he gave to the Mavs he played hard for them and was fun to watch I'd rather just remember the one fun year he gave us and let him ride off to the next journey of his career
Marcel you said that the Mavs were 4 games from a chip....we did win one game so we were actually only 3 games from a chip. Great video...Sad to see DJJ make the wrong choice...but excited for the Mavs future regardless.
DJJ will be missed but he just can’t create his own shot and his 3 point isn’t reliable. The crazy dunks will be missed but I believe we have acquired better offensive mined player in Klay and defenders. The Clippers aren’t going to run plays for DJJ unless they are alley oops. Good luck to him though.
I appreciate DJJ's contributions and glad he got paid. Maybe he thought he'd replace PG in the lineup? I still think he made the wrong deicision but it's all water under the bridge now.
I don’t care what anyone says, Liked DJJ and what he brought to the Mavs. Not a great shooter but he had athleticism, good defense (imho) and lobs. It's easy to bash someone when they leave but the facts are he helped the Mavs get to the finals.
Imagine if it's Grimes instead of Green or Naji not even Klay instead of Djj shooting those wide open shots. Djj airballs a wide open 3. Neways wish him the best with the Clippers.
I will just repeat what i said before, might be DJJ aint ready for that ring. Let him develop his skills more on the clippers if thats his decision, and let the mavs try to win that chip.
Why DJJ changed his agent this is the main reason of this issue in my opinion. IMO only not sure rich and lebron. Manipulating DJJ's mind. They did it on purpose to get klay. They want to divert mavs attentions to DJJ's FA case and not to klay. They knew mavs is a threat signing klay thompson. They want mavs to confuse between DJJ and Klay so that lakers might get klay eventually. But the plan didn't work out so DJJ ending up signing up with the clippers. Did you hear any news that clippers want to pursue DJJ before Free agency? Did you think what if mavs offer DJJ higher salary to stay and mavs ending up out of budget. what happens? or what team klay would be signing there's higher chance klay will sign on lakers right? Imo that's lebron and rich paul plan to favor lebron again. They did it on spencer dinwiddie's last time.

Like he said after those high Cali taxes the contracts are basically the same. He'd save a lot in property taxes specifically in Texas.
He literally lost money. California taxes aren't a joke. He saw he wasn't gonna be a starter, and LA told him what he wanted to hear.
