Not worried about Spence at all seems like he knows what his role is gonna be and he already knows how Luka plays. We just need him to knock down those catch and shoot opportunities. No ball hog moments and I’m chillin
I think surprising, and impressive, moments from Hardy and Gortman made Spence look worse than he is. The expectation of a third ball-handler isn't being as good as LuKai, he just needs to be CONSISTENTLY mid. Just don't be a minus and we'll get everything we need out of him.
Come on, Spencer is just fine. He drives to the basket like anyone he just doesn't get calls. This is factual, alot of his shots are truly fouls that affected the shot. There are so many ball handlers now, he just trying to acclimate to this new team bc it looks different than what he used to even. Spencer will show up bigly
People keep remembering the Dinwiddie that played with the Mavs the last time around. That guy didn’t show any of that with the Lakers last year. We should not have signed him. He’s lost a step and just isn’t THAT guy anymore. Time to move on and let someone else step up. Hardy is the guy for now. He stepped up last year in the playoffs and is THAT guy NOW. I said this before we signed him and when we signed him. I was hoping I was wrong. Unfortunately…
@@MavericksDigestHardy was great in the playoffs last year! If he just does what he did late last year Kidd should be giving all the backup PG minutes to Hardy. Maybe Dinwiddie can be an injury insurance policy until Exum comes back? If he “figures things out” and gets back to any semblance of his old self, that would be great. But, his leash is close to wearing out!!
Dinwiddie is only getting paid the vet minimum, so he was a low risk signing. Time will tell if he shows flashes of times gone by and/or can be a consistent rotation player, but the Mavs are not out very much if things don't pan out.
Spencer is that player who will do better once the actual rotation is in place. I see him thriving more with the top 9 players, not with those bench players or those going to the G-League.
Guys dinwiddie will be fine. Can ball handle, 6'6, can play decent defense, can score, shoot, hit big shots, move the ball around, this team is deep enjoy the ride fellas!
Damn a Spencer Dinwiddie slander video? So disappointed Marcel. Dinwiddie was just coasting in the pre season trying to get guys going. He also didn’t play at all with Luka who we know he has thrived playing with. This is all typical overreacting from Mavs fans. Never seen a fanbase go so crazy over preseason crap
@@MavericksDigest Don't allow them to shame you Marcel!!!Trust your eyes! Spencer is an inefficient role player. He's a February trade piece. He's TOO inconsistent to be relied upon. Time will reveal his flaws!
@@MavericksDigest I mean he has it alot easier this time around and he’s only a year and a half removed from being a efficient 2nd option for us in the 22-23 season prior to being traded for Kyrie. Bruh you’re literally throwing shade at Spencer over preseason when you’ll be the first one to upload a video upon Spencer coming off the bench having an 18-20pt game. You don’t look as intelligent as you have in the past with videos like these. Be different from those other clowns man. I know you can. Spencer is proven and Kidd knows how to use him.
I’m always an honest observer of the game of basketball, and Dinwiddie didn’t look good in pre season, BUT, I also said I believe he’ll be fine, I also said people are overreacting, but if this continues, we’ll have to make a decision. I appreciate the feedback, I truly do, but I’m not down on Spencer, just an observation
Spencer could have mental issues (private home stuff), it is unlike him to be playing sloppy ball like he is. There has to be pressures of having to up root your family as often as he's had to the last few years, children and all. Lets us cut him some slack and see how it turns out like you said Marcel.
The lakers had him playing in a completely different role. He will be fine as the season continues. Also for perspective when he played in the preseason with the Mavs in 2022 he averaged 5 pts on 29 fg%.. this year he is averaging almost identical stats 6 pts on 29.6 fg%. He also averaged 1.8 TO per game that preseason and he is averaging the same this season. Spencer has always been someone how works in the flow of a game, he isn’t the general. He will be fine in a role
My expectations of Dinwiddie weren't as high. I just wanted a backup that has capabilities with familiarity of the team. Just need him to get the offense afloat in his role while Luka sits which is a big upgrade over Exum in that regard.
I maintain we should have brought back DSJ instead of Dinwiddie. DSJ wanted back with Carlisle gone because he was besties with Luka and is also a good defender and fantastic dunker, neither of things Dinwiddie is. He can't shoot but Dinwiddie's career numbers aren't great either. Dinwiddie chose the Lakers over us when he had the chance and looks washed. He was always great at yelling at the refs though which seemed to lessen Luka's need to do so so at least there's that
Like I keep saying in the Discord, no one is expecting Dinwiddie to be his 2022 self. The problem is, at least in the preseason, he has shown that he couldn't even do the BARE MINIMUM of what we ask. And THAT is a problem. Edit: You would have to be Dinwiddie apologist to say that he wasn't underwhelming in the preseason.
SD certainly didnt play at the level he played at last time he was a Mav. But he also didnt show great for Nets nor Lakers. So one must ask the question is what we saw i. Pre season simply where his game is at this stage of his career? IMO he should be given every opportunity to succeed before trade deadline as we certainly need him to be our primary or at least secondary ballhander for the second unit or 1st or 2nd guard off the bench. To me his play has put him behind Grimes and Hardy, and Gortman certainly showed better in preseason 4 games. If he doesn't step up then he should be traded at deadline for backup point guard.
Think we all simply want SD 80% of what he was when a Mav, but thus far he has not played solid yet. We know playing on the floor with Luka and Irving the game will be easier simply due to the amount of pressure and attention they draw. With Exum hurt we need SD more than ever just to be solid. Hardy and Jazx are certainly hungry for more minutes. Congratulations to Hardy new contract, he earned it. Kudos.
Dinwiddie didn’t play so great on a desperate team. He was asked to play a similar role so I think maybe he’s not productive like that anymore. Hardy was a relief for Luka at times last playoffs. Another guy who can put pressure on the defense
You are out of your damn mind. 6th man??? Grimes, Naji, and Gafford are WAY ahead of him. Luka and Kyrie are the 1st & 2nd PGs so you need a 3rd PG for about 10 minutes a game as a sub, for injury fill-in, and garbage time. If he’s 6th man for your team, you’re fucked.
He ant good he can't shoot he can't play defense he can't make a shot to save his life 🧬 this guy is pathetic I do not know why Nikko Harris sign this kid he's pathetic man you can't shoot he just a waste of a spot
Not worried about Spence at all seems like he knows what his role is gonna be and he already knows how Luka plays. We just need him to knock down those catch and shoot opportunities. No ball hog moments and I’m chillin
Dinwiddie didn’t look that bad, Hardy is looking improved though so no issues.
Jamarion Sharp should be included in the line up, he is a big asset for the team.
