**Spoiler Warning** He.... He's _trying_ to make everyone hate him, and when people tell him welcome back and greet him kindly later in season 2, he's confused... "Why don't they hate me?" he might be asking himself. He's a jerk sometimes, and a shameless flirt, sure, but he's also broken. He cant make stable relationships with people, he can't truly come to terms with what happened to him and what he went through, so he's driven by a need for revenge, and that's causing him to he unable to heal... He's been through trauma and he's not dealing with it in a healthy way. He never has, it seems. My heart hurts for James Ford...💔
My number 1 tv show, the best ive ever seen, love it every episode, very strong scene and all the main actors really performes the role of their lifetime
The writers really make James "Sawyer" Ford quite marginal at times. He scavenges and hoards and when Jack's in a cave in, he doesn't tell Kate. He's initially quite bigoted towards Sayid. He ran cons, stealing from naive women and their simp partners. He killed an unarmed man who did him NO wrong, being played by a fellow con man. He bags on Cassidy. Only the end of the season does Sawyer show a glimmer of decency; he reveals to Jack that some fellow named Christian (Jack's father) was ashamed of what he'd become, proud of his son [Jack], and realize that Jack had done the right thing (in exposing his father being drunk during a botched surgery), and forgave Jack for it, but was too cowardly to call Jack and tell him. This showed that James was giving Jack closure and catharsis which is something that Sawyer NEVER got the opportunity to get. Killing the guy that conned his parents was merely revenge; it brought no real peace or resolution to the pain in Sawyer's heart.
Hi! You wanted to meet here? Sawyer is such a shameless flirt, lol. But Kate wants to get beneath the surface, get to know the REAL man behind the swagger. He doesn't want to allow this. Nobody knows the REAL him. But gradually, she wears down his resistance .. ;)
@@bertramsey she couldn't believe it, but her resistance doesn't last very long. At that time, she couldn't know, if he was serious or joking or whatever. He 's a jerk, here he expected pity, but when she discovered later, that he wrote the letter, he couln't stand it: get off!
@@verenamenzel4701 Kate was getting through to him, and it scared him. He'd never let another human being get this close before. I noticed one more thing that proves Skate's OTP status that we talked about in that other thread. When Kate says "no but he's gone" in "The Little Prince", in that SAME episode, Sawyer sees Kate delivering Aaron and we get the sweeping music, this moment is SO important for Skate, they are NO obstacle ship, they ARE the ship we're supposed to root for, and to hammer it home, when Locke asks "what'd you see?" Sawyer says "doesn't matter. It's GONE now." So much for that "I have always been with you" scene being about Jate. Sawyer also says "I'm with you" to Juliet RIGHT after he looks at Kate so longingly. Maybe Kate is "with" Jack and Sawyer is "with" Juliet physically, but they both LONG to be with each other!
@@bertramsey o, good interpretation, very plausible, Kate is loyal to Jack and Sawyer to juliet- but skate's love cannot be broken. Yes , with his lies and excuses he was not very sucessful relating to kate. Every time s.b. asked him private things, he used his selfprotecting mechanism. juliet also wanted to know things, they were none of her business, she always was curious to find out secrets and private things. After the burning arrows, she asked him: why are you jumped...'I aready told you.'.. Later on the outrigger, when he talked about seeing kate and claire, they were perpaps 30 sec. sitting exhausted and wet on the beach, she asked :you wanted to tell me about Kate....'I didn't want you to tell anything.' ' Why you tell it not now?' She used the opportunity, when he was kind of weak or tired to come into his head. Very clever.
Fascinating! Spoilers 😅 He uses his own letter to con her, partially because he believes it himself, into thinking he's a horrific person. And to remind her that she does Not understand him. Not one bit. And dang. It worked so well.
Best character in the show
agreed - i named my son Sawyer 10 years ago
Hands down
You're right cowboy

Everyone's always on about "funny Sawyer", but "serious intense Sawyer" from the first seasons was certainly no joke. Awesome character.
Freckles, I got so many answers to that question. I don't even know where to start. Awesome truth
Sawyer is always 100 steps ahead.

When he walks away from the scam after seeing the kid ... he's got a heart after all.
This scene is wild once you see the reveal, down the road. Solid misdirect.
That pulsing sound from 1:14 onwards . . . so it looks like Inception wasn't the first to use it, lmao
It's awesome. Also got some deranged violins going on there to portray the character's instability.
I like that blue shirt
Reminds me of Alan from the Hungover movie. Hey Phil. Where did buy that shirt? 😂
No you like him

How does Kate say no one’s that disgusting when she has met the most disgusting men imaginable in her past.
Shes trying to playfully guilt trip him, because she thinks he's joking around. Or just flat out trying to manipulate him.

Nope bens was.. so bitter and twisted then came good at the last
I buy that 4 a dollar
