Once all the kids move out, you'll still need to keep a stock of food. They come home. With their better half, and all your grandchildren. Then you go from just the two of you most of the time, to feeding an instant mob. But I love it. :)
Our first grandchild is already here, and I did can for his parents. 😊

I became a grandma for the first time this April and I’ve been over the moon watching her grow and change every few weeks I visit and miss her so much in between stays. She’s just over six months old now and I can’t wait for her to call me grandma. Lol! Because anything she requests after that the answer will most certainly be “yes, as long as mommy & daddy say it’s okay.” 🥰

A little trick we learned a while ago is when a grocery item is on sale 30% buy 3 months worth because that is generally how long till they put it on sale again.
I love it! I run our pantry the same way. I haven’t been to the store in 3-4 weeks now. I only run for perishables.everything else is purchased in bulk during an annual/ semiannual stock up run. One trick that might be helpful for your viewers that helped me hone in on my usages is that I started dating on the bottle when I opened it. Especially condiments and seasonings and cooking oils. I can see clearly this way exactly how long it took us to consume a full jar of avocado oil or peanut butter……. It helps you know that if you typically use a bottle of avocado oil every 3 weeks, you can run the numbers and purchase a year’s supply that is usually quite close to what your actual consumption is. I think it is fabulous that you are encouraging others to get a nice little pantry stash going. Provides a little insurance in uncertain times. We buy health, home, auto insurance I believe it is wise to have food and resource insurance as well. Call it a rainy day fund, and, to be honest, this investment is paying higher gains right now than 401k’s and traditional investments are 😉❤️ plus, I can’t feed my family with my investment portfolio paperwork if the markets tank, or should I say are tanking…… diversify by increasing your pantry investment. Who knows, in 2 years that honey could be as valuable as an ounce of gold.

I grew up in a family of eight. Later on, when my older sibs came with their families we cooked for an army! Now, I only have myself to cook for. It may be a lot of work, but, enjoy these days. Time flies by so fast!
I live in a suburb of Dallas Texas and literally across the street from a grocery store. Growing up in Colorado, my parents kept a large freezer full and lots of canning in the summer so we would be prepared for winter snow storms or whatever life happened. After I was newly married, I didn't think about it much and didn't have a well stocked pantry. One Christmas in Colorado, there was one of the biggest snow storms on record and my husband and I got stuck in our tiny condo for several days. We had a steak and chicken gizzards and rice for Christmas dinner since we planned to go to our parents for Christmas and were unprepared. It was funny and we had enough but since then I keep a larger amount of food around because that grocery store across the street doesn't help a bit if there is a power outage, ice storm, tornado, pandemic, job loss or I get sick and can't go. < All of these things have happened since I've lived in Texas and I'm mostly ready. I'm looking forward to your pantry tour and micro-green set up. I currently grow sprouts in a mason jar but never micro greens. Thanks for sharing!

Back in the 60's & 70's many of our parents shopped this way , on 3-4 kids to shop for , it worked most of the time ! Today in America very large grocery stores even in smaller towns to shop ! My day used to rent a freezer/ locker for 4-5 dollars a month , about the size of a medium suitcase , now days freezers are very available ! Large family seemed to be happy , worked together ! Product available today not always available ! Stay safe , enjoy & best of luck with the family !

I don’t have a large family but I keep a lot of bulk food on hand . I only buy what we can use up in a reasonable time so none of it spoils if I see we are not going through it fast enough I find recipes to use it in so I use it up or I freeze it or can it up so it doesn’t go to waste . Food is getting so expensive that ppl will be needing to learn how to be frugal if they haven’t been in the past .. I’ve always been frugal so I’m glad about that ! I’m sure your channel along with other channels that show you how to be frugal will become very popular out of the necessity of ppl needing to learn how to budget their groceries out . The good news is you can still have very tasty meals even when cooking frugally.

I just purchased an attachment for my KitchenAid stand mixer that appears to do the same thing as your tomato machine but on a smaller scale and at a fraction of the price. The perfect machine for someone who’s processing much smaller amounts. Mine also grinds meat which I’m going to try in a few days. So glad for both of us!

Loved seeing your haul always interesting to see what other people get. It is just my daughter and I and one week of the month my brother I try and grow what I can in Calgary and buy in bulk when I have a little extra money. Being disabled and on aish it is very important and less stressful knowing I can go three months without having to worry if something should happen. The three of us would love to have some land to grow our own food not sure it will happen but watching your chanel and others like yours gives me more hope and insperation. The other day I got two 45 pound cases of peaches for 16 dollars each so I went to your video's to see what to do with them all I made your peach salsa and canned that up so thank you for all your hard work on your videos.

If you’re setting up the grow room for micro greens, check out “Kratky method” (hydroponics without pumps) for growing greens. I am developing a routine to get some fresh greens from our basement this winter using this method. I also took a couple tomato clippings before they were wiped out by frost and stuck them in 5 gallon pails but you could start a seed or two. Imagine fresh cherry tomatoes in 90 days! I’ve grown a head of romaine lettuce in 30 days in a coffee canister last winter. So now it’s about fine tuning so we have a rotation. Also I want to figure out our own nutrients so I’m not having to purchase them. - not that you don’t already have enough to do lol I just wanted to offer an alternative ❤

I think second last video when you were talking about that we do need to buy things no matter what, I actually wondered if you had a Costco near by and almost asked! Oh my gosh that warm fresh milk in the mug with cinnamon and brown sugar! I would be getting all my chores done to. Love it. I loved the tomato syrup bloop made me giggle out loud. I love their pure vanilla best value for sure. So enjoyed seeing your haul and that popcorn mix is also a huge hit at our house. I also love the savings on big bulk things like toilet paper and paper towel etc etc makes so much more sense. Have done it for years. And now yes very more important in our present unknowing time. hugs as always.
We’ve started buying our TP from a hotel distributor, not the nicest paper but cheapest we can find. We buy it in 48 roll boxes and keep enough in hand to be able to go a good long while.❤️

One thing im discovering with having boys at home is to always have some kind of snack whether store bought or homemade
we raised our 5 grandchildren and I understand the bulk buying I tried not to buy anything I could make from scratch. it can get expensive buying for a large family I commend you for all that you do, I look forward to watching your videos

Really enjoyed this video thanks Chelsea, I found it very helpful … I also buy a lot of stuff in bulk but I haven’t yet got it down to the fine art that you have, sometimes When I check dates I have to scramble to use it up as it’s about to go out of date, but it all gets used, I waste very little. I grew up this way though , my mum was a child in WW2 in the UK & knew what it was like to go without. As an adult she kept ( and still keeps) a well stocked pantry so I do too. During the lockdown here in the UK I was able to supply all my family with rice, pasta, toilet paper & all the other items that disappeared off the supermarket shelves. Also, with prices as they are at the mo, I heard someone say, if you can afford to do it, why would you not choose to have next years meals at this years ( or this months!) prices? Makes perfect sense to me!

Look up Japanese Milk Bread. It's a super easy technique/recipe that when you add raisins and cinnamon and do the raisin bread swirl roll, tastes better than any store bought raisin bread! I'm sure the kids would really like it for the times when you run out of that store bought raisin bread.

Sure, I had severe fibroids and uterine cysts. My iron levels were at 4 so it was a wonder I could still stand upright. I had a hysterectomy in January which literally changed my life.

I pray for you and your beautiful family everyday I know how you take care of so many children and have an enormous heart. I knew you were struggling physically but I had no idea what the issue was. I think it’s easy to see it in others when we have health issues ourselves. Im sure all you’ve been through has been an unreal challenge but thank goodness you are on the road to wellness and are taking care, isn’t a rest such an incredible thing and like you say just one hour out of our day can make all the difference in the way the rest of our day progresses. I used to be one that continually tried to push myself until I quite literally ran out of steam and at 57 Yrs young I can say I’ve stopped trying to do it all and be all to all people now it’s about myself and my family and rest is a key component!! My husband made pie crusts for me cuz I hyped up how well he did it. Altho I taught him - he bought it lol No more pie crust for me YAY

I love costco
If we want to go to Costco it is 3 hrs round trip not including traffic. Or we can go to the other one witch is 3 hrs one way not including traffic. So I've never been to Costco before.
Good haul! A very effective way of saving money and ensuring the pantry is stocked. I am surprised they got 6 mini's on the trailer - just weight wise. I assume they are not full...but still, impressive. Good job on the video.

I'm the oddball who loves shopping for groceries 😂. I actually have done "Instacart", but not really as I just shopped directly for a personal friend. She wanted bulk shopping, but hated going.
For me as far as pantry needs, I prefer to stock well first, then as I get low, slowly restock. For example - mayo. We use it a lot for loads of condiments, as well as on sandwiches. So I typically buy 4-6 of the big jars. That used to last us until the next round of sales. (Threeish month sales cycle.) Well, 2020 messed that up. 😂🤦♀️So I kept an eye out for a deal on mayo and got a bunch on super good sale at Aldi. Problem? It was a MUCH smaller container. So we blew thru all the jars.
Next time the big containers went on sale I grabbed double the number of jars.
That is just an example.
I'm also very blessed to live close to multiple club type stores, ethnic grocery stores and within a reasonable distance of Amish communities with their bulk stores.

Do you freeze the tortillas? I only have 3 kiddos (been trying for #4 for over a year and a half) but I love this idea of shopping for most of what we'd need for the whole year. I HATE shopping. Your video just auto played after another video I was watching and I am so tickled that I've stumbled across your UA-cam. I plan on watching all your videos. Lol. We live on a military base in the middle of a city. I miss country living and mostly miss my chickens and ability to have a garden.

My family used to do this and the way we sped up comparing prices was to make a spreadsheet with each item in one column and a column for each store, then wed just put in the unit price of each item from every store and at the end go through and highlight the price of the item we wanted so you could go down the store column and mark of each highlighted item store by store. Seems like it would take a long time but it actually sped things up instead of comparing prices and creating individual lists.

I only feed 2 people and I too buy in bulk to save money. If I stay out of the stores I don't over spend.

What is a butter curry? Is it similar or same as butter chicken? That’s one of our favorites to serve with naan and the other is pizza, as well. Such a good shortcut for lunch time!
