I'm really glad I'm the only one who has decided to make their helmet clean without the "weathered look" I even covered the ugly dent it had on mine too..
Making mine trying to fine the range finder video very cool
very nice
Thanks man! I might want to link up & print you some fishing lures, what kind of fishing do you do??
Turned out great!
Just wow! You deserve way more subs! Thank you for the in-depth tutorial.
Thank you for the kind words!
Excited to see how you did the wiring and leds.
Thanks for watching Matt! This video was longer than what I wanted but there were a lot of key painting parts I wanted to touch on, with that said another 10 minutes would have really been pushing it lol
I will have the video for the rangefinder up on Thursday!
Thanks for the tip on vinyl pinstriping!
No problem! Just make sure you wait a good 24-30 hours before doing so
Cool
Great video as always. The vinyl trim trick was a great idea. It really helped me get clean lines around the curved areas. Question: Do you have any recommendations for removing residue from yellow frogtape? I'm worried that I'm going to ruin the paint.
Thanks! I assume you mean glue residue? There’s a few ways you can attack this. Wet heat can often mediate residue. Use a warm paper towel and let it dwell, try rolling off the glue with your finger. Other products like adhesive removers can work but make sure the paint is completely cured.
This is great, I am working on making model cars (rocket league) and am thinking about buying a cricket to print decals. Can you make a video more specific about how you designed and cut and applied the decals? Do you clear over them? how small / detailed can you go?
A cricket is a great investment, yes you can clear coat over them!
Cricut decals FTW!!
Id love to say I painted them but sometimes ya gotta roll with the punches lol
This might be a long shot given this video is a year old, but here I go. Basically, how do you prevent overspray on your paint? Do you sand the paint with a very high grit sandpaper? I've never used matte paints before, but I want to make sure I know how to handle this when it inevitably comes up.
Do you mean texturizing that occurs where you paint it and the paint gets kind of gritty or dry feeling?
@@Darkwingdad Especially on domes or sharp corners, when you spray one side, the part of the spray that misses the prop and lands on the back side, causing a very 'dusty', slightly textured surface. If that makes sense? Basically the spray paint mist landing on parts that already have been painted, and weren't intended to be covered again.
@@dark_matter8420 assuming it’s a rattle can there’s several reasons this happens.
1) improper temps/too far from the model
2) low fluid/improper psi
3) improper position of can (keep upright all times
4) inadequate room to move/spray model
With hvlp is eliminates all of these variables but one thing I can say is start spraying from the middle & work your way out, keep the can about 7-8 inches from the model & upright & plenty of room to move around the model or be able to turn the model freely. When I use rattle can this is what I do & have minimal issues.
@@Darkwingdad Thanks a lot! I'm just going to do some tests, see how it works out. I think in general matte paints are a lot more forgiving than high gloss ones in terms of overspray, so we'll see.
Massive thanks for your fast respone, even a year later! You got yourself another sub
@@dark_matter8420 satin and matte are a lot easier to work with. A little trick to you CAN use clear coat on both to give a high gloss finish. Even if you get overspray with clear you can wetsand it out to perfection, & yes I have videos on that :)
Once again a wicked vid bro
Thanks my dude!
why a different tent for each spray?
Potential cross contamination of dust & particles. Filler primer by far is the dustiest. If you clean it well enough you could use primer & paint but clear you definitely want a proprietary tent. It’s just like with painting with hvlp i have selerate guns for primer, paint & clear coat.
Link to Part 1? Didn't see it in the video list...
