I have been on this crossing many times to visit family in Northern Ireland. I have been lucky not to be on board when the sea gets a bit choppy. I have never been on the night crossing though. I remember taking the crossing from Stranraer before the new ferry terminal opened.
Fantastic video and we care about the details like ship to shore versus shore to ship ramps. My husbands a shipwright and works for Austals ship building and has been involved in many ferry builds over his lifetime…we are about to come on our bucket list holiday to uk and driving round some of Scotland to Cairnryan to Belfast on this same ferry tour in here . Thanks and bless you from a happy little Aussie lady 💖🥰🌻
Thanks for your lovely comment! Enjoy the UK when you’re here, a massively geographically diverse place for such a small island! Scotlands islands and highlands have the best the best place of all our country
I did enjoy this little film. I've been making regular visits, by Cairnryan car-ferry, to Ireland since 2015 - I much prefer surface-travel to the nannying experience of flying - but only in 2020 did I try the Stena route of Cairnryan-Belfast. I didn't feel the steeper fare (admittedly, especially compared to CalMac, Stena/P & O are grossly overpriced) was justified by a longer crossing and a highly confusing onboard experience, with minimal signage to direct the inexperienced. And I could wholly relate to your comment that, at least with P & O, you get a great view of the boat coming in. EUROPEAN CAUSEWAY and EUROPEAN HIGHLANDER are, let's face it, more Aldi than Waitrose; but if you're heading for the north-west of Ireland, smartly turn off by the first junction south of Larne for Belfast International Airport and then hurtle for the motorway via Moira, you'll hit Enniskilllen and points west faster than by this costlier boat-into-Belfast alternative. And with less infuriating 'flegs' ... !!!
Thanks and glad you enjoyed it! Don’t worry I’ve taken on that feedback in my more recent videos. Less panning and bought a microphone with a wind breaker too!
Sadly Stena charge for onsite parking. There’s a sneaky lay-by down the road that I’ve risked it with once but never again. Also adds an annoying walk into a not very pedestrian friendly port. P&O Cairnryan have a free car park if you’d rather use them
Like the concept lad but wind noise ruins the experience. Love Ferry travel...a true adventure....but the simple addition of a wind deflector would have made this film so much better!
There’s none as this is an internal* UK ferry (*with the very tiny Northern Ireland Protocol/Windsor Framework question making that not fully true in reality!)

It’s a lovely crossing!
I am going on this crossing tomorrow and this has made me feel much better about it xx
I’m glad! Hope you had a great trip!

I love these videos I did the Liverpool/Birkenhead to belfast trip takes 8 hours but the modern ships are amazing
Thanks! Need to do that next!!
Beautiful sunset.
I was on that same boat and i saw my car in the line😂
Haha what are the chances! Bet you were annoyed by me wandering about the place with my camera out! 😅
Watching while building, impressed with the woof views.👍👍

Amazing video. How long does the ferry take to Belfast?
Thank you! Crossing is 2 hours 30 mins, plus 45 min check in before hand
Sorry for the poor sound quality - have ordered a tie mic and fluffy wind deflector for future videos! Thanks for the helpful feedback
That was enjoyable if windy! I love ferries too. I see this was 5 mths ago, I hope you pan less fast now, I got a bit dizzy 😂

Where do you park if you are taking the ferry without your car? I'm going next month.

July 2023, Ferry cost £347 for 2 adults, 1 infant and a standard size car.
Watched the video to see where to go to as you approach cairnryan 👍🏼

Thanks for the feedback, I totally agree - all my future videos after this one have a wind deflector on a mic!
Does it go through immigration or some system that check passports?
No it doesn’t as it’s an internal UK ferry. However you do need photographic ID with you (I have never once been asked for it). Hope that helps!
How much was the ferry?
It’s sadly very expensive - around £315 return for 2 adults and a car. Most expensive ferry per mile in Britain
SW Scotland
I care if it’s a ship to shore ramp! Get your ferry nerd on !
Ship to Shore is my favourite mind!
Don't know how they can call these superfast, not as fast as the hydrofoils that use to do the Irish sea routes.
For a normal RoRo ship 55kmh is very fast, usually their cruising speed is around 30-45kmh
Craig you are an attractive man
Kyle!! Long time no see mate, will have to catch up soon ⛴️
Where's I'd check
There’s none as this is an internal* UK ferry (*with the very tiny Northern Ireland Protocol/Windsor Framework question making that not fully true in reality!)
Couldn't hear anything I think you should use a micro phone on your coat
Absolutley - will be investing one soon!
I wanted to watch, but your camera movements make me feel sick they are too fast visually .
