I received a sample of Herod this week and I'm looking forward to trying out when I am next out. Thank you for the very interesting thoughts on your discovery set. I really enjoyed it!
Thanks for the great feedback, I really appreciate it! Yes Herod was a wonderful discovery and since then I feel like I need to discover more tobacco scents! Let me know what you think about Herod!
@@jusderose I couldn't resist giving it a spray actually and initially it was very good. However, I thought the performance was not great and after around 3 hours on my skin it was a skin scent. A bit disappointing. Anyway, I also got a sample of MFK Grand Soir and although it is a pretty linear (but very nice) fragrance it has real staying power on my skin.
I finished 2 bottles of Layton just because my ex was obsessed with it on me. I feel like most of the other scents from this house are somewhat reinterpretations of other popular nich fragrances (Herod and Godolphin come to mind). Don't get me wrong, they do smell of great quality ingredients and very well put together. However I'm still hopping for something more original from them in the future. Anyway, great video !
Thank you! And yes I agree with you. I think PDM is a great introduction into niche but some fragrances are very expensive. I find there are very similar and more affordable alternatives. That being said I'm a huge fan of Herod & Pegasus!
So happy someone else gets the osmanthus in Herod. I've always said that it's the note that gives it that slight dark cherry vibe. Tellement délicieux... Completely agree that Pegasus has more of a fem vibe too. Not a HUGE fan of that scent myself (because of some of the fixatives) but as a layering piece on a woman....oo la la! 😋
Unfortunately I can only afford decants but so far I would say my overall favorites from PDM are Herod and Kalan. Tried Galloway and Percival and although I liked both, I didn’t love them. But one that very rarely gets talked about that I think without a doubt deserves more love is Habdan. Why that one doesn’t get more attention is beyond me!
My PdM ranking : 1. Godolphin/Oajan (share the first spot). Beautiful beautiful scents. 2. Herod. I'll reach for these quite often. At a far distant third place, Pegasus. I need to be in the mood for it. At even further distant place from the third place, Carlisle (if I'd buy it, I'll reach for it maybe once a year). As a matter of fact, I don't like the smell, but I've gotten a lot of compliments when I used the sample bottle. The rest are average and below.
I just watched this PDM video now and I must say I agree with your comments about some of the fragrances you reviewed. I own Layton, and while I genuinely like it, I can't understand reviewers who suggest Layton could be worn in the summer. I find it too heavy past a cool Spring day. I own Galloway, Percival, Pegasus, Oajan, Layton, Sedley, Herod and will own Kalan soon (in the mail). I like PDM fragrance. If I were to pick my top 5, it would be: 1) Pegasus 2) Layton 3) Sedley 4) Herod 5) Oajan. Great video Josephine!
I enjoyed that - thx. It's always interesting to hear another persons take on fragrances. And I liked your relaxed and succinct presentation of each of these PDM's. As for topic suggestions, maybe give us an insight as to why you like some of the fragrances you already own...
@@jusderose Sorry for incorrectly saying your name was 'justine' . It was the first video I had watched. I realized after your name is 'Josephine'. Merci! J'aime your videos!
I'm looking for a winter fragrance that isn't too strong, I have spicebomb and like the overall DNA but it has a quality that gives me a headache and I'm also not sure if it smells good on me in particular (never got a compliment with it). What would you recommend for that delicious cinnamon/spicy smell that is more mild and smooth?
It's hard to not smell strong with a fragrance that contains spices and sweeter notes but Boss Bottled intense EDP has a light cinnamon note coupled with crisp apple. Simply delicious!
Hmmm not sure... It's a lovely scent but not crazy original. I think you can find more affordable fragrances that provide a similar impression / effect.
I just ordered my sample set about 9 minutes ago, most excited for Herod because I love tobacco scents and Galloway because its their only true spring/summer scent. I already own travel sets of Pegasus and Layton, love them both. Full bottle worthy for sure, although I may have performance issues with Layton, maybe I just go nose blind, not sure yet, and haven't actually worn Pegasus yet so nothing to report. Love the videos, love the authentic pronunciations of some of the words you speak, literally sounds like music. Thx!
Jus de Rose amazing video. I have to say I’m surprised to hear that Layton lasts less than eight hours on you Josephine. I do know that it depends on the person whether a fragrance will last long or not and on me Layton lasts maybe 15+ hours on a good day but obviously at that point is a skin scent but for about ten hours I can smell it on me which is rare for the fragrances I own. To me right now Layton is a 10/10 on everything. Smell, longevity, projection, sillage. Love it.
Thank you! I tried it again recently and it lasted quite some time... very odd. I think it depends a lot on the weather conditions too interestingly! It clings differently to the skin in winter vs summer I find. Thanks for watching!
I can't get down with Parfums de Marley. Herod inspired by Tobacco Vanille, Layton inspired by Boss Bottled, Pegasus inspired by Dior Hypnotic, Oajan inspired by Ambre Narguille, Percival inspired by Fitch Feirce, the gold bottle inspired by Tuscan leather(forgot the name of that one). Too many "inspirations"
Woah you have one heck of a nose! Thanks for sharing these bang on comparisons. I think PDM is a great "introduction" into niche although I find some of their fragrances over-priced especially amongst the women's collection. Really enjoy Herod and Pegasus though!
@@jusderose I think the quality is there in terms of the materials and blend, I just don't appreciate the lack of creativity. Herod is my favorite out of them all and the only one I own from that house.

Hello, my apologies for the delay, your comment ended up in my spam! It's a tough decision to make. I'm a huge fan of Herod, and I think it would be great for an intimate setting, however it's more for the winter time because it's quite sweet and creamy. If you had to pick between the two I would go for Layton as you'll get more use out of it. Hope this helps!
I agree!! The men’s line from this house is legions ahead of and better than the feminine side. I love delina and the exclusif of it, but it can’t compare to the beautiful compositions of Herod, Percival, Kalyan, and Pegasus Exclusif🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩 they last for-ev-er!!!!!
I dont get it honestly... I bought Layton as a blind buy. It is sweet, doesn't hold onto my skin for a long time, it gets sweeter and sweeter... I'm really glad you didnt hype it up as well.

Hi guys. This is my 4th house of Marly vid and ZERO mention from comments of ...drumroll... Layton Exclusif. Am I the only guy out there that really digs on this? Comments welcome.

@@mirza6799 - I'd say that Carlisle is an acquired taste. It's strong and while the notes listed are a citrus floral, I pick up pepper off the top for at least the first 15-20 minutes. It literally leaps off my skin and has a great scent cloud. 1 or 2 sprays is all you'll need. Then it sweetens up as it drys down. IMO it's a cooler weather scent (Fall.Winter.Spring) - too strong for summer. 1 spray for the office (if you want to chance it). It's a beast-mode frag. I love it but it's not my go-to, and it's not cheap. As far as Layton, I think that's more mass appealing and the frag-heads lean toward it being a date night scent, and I guess that I'd agree.
