i fucking LOVED this game as a kid. clearly it left an impact on me, as i still remember pretty much everything that ever happened in the game LMAO. i also used to play the multiplayer mode with my little brother, and fought against each other all the time, it was so much fun
I unironically love this game. The missions are fun and complement the level design, the gun gameplay is surprisingly satisfying to engage in, the tone and mood of the game is so well executed, the world-building in the Sonic canon is always appreciated, and, naturally, the music is PEAK. My only real gripe is the progression system and having to beat the game 10 times just to get to the final boss. Shadow The Hedgehog is far from perfect, but it has this charm and audacity in what it tries to do that I will forever cherish.
Well said. The only complaint I really had about it as a kid was having to play all the missions to get the 'true' ending. And the crappy platforming that reminded you it was a Sonic game haha
Same. The gun mechanics were actually pretty dope. But most of the controls were direct ports from Sonic Heroes. So it made the 3D platforming absolute hell at times. Especially levels where you had to zip around in all axis of direction (the digital level comes to mind for this problem). I know people love to shit on the game for its over-the-top edginess. But I think that's just part of the charm of acknowledging that you should take the game so seriously, in a way.

I remember playing this on my gamecube when I was about 9 or 10. There was a part where you just kind of wander around in the jeep and I got lost and never beat the game. Great game.

I remember waking up on Christmas early, finishing this game, putting it back under the tree and having to 'wake up' and pretend to play it for the first time again in front of my parents. Great game!
the fastest hedgehog speedrunner alive...
i fucking LOVED this game as a kid. clearly it left an impact on me, as i still remember pretty much everything that ever happened in the game LMAO. i also used to play the multiplayer mode with my little brother, and fought against each other all the time, it was so much fun
i have no shame in admitting I used to watch the intro to this game on repeat as a child. shit went TOO HARD
I remember one of my friends showed me this game not long after it came out and I got really upset that Sonic died in the intro.
I did the same thing but with Sonic Heroes
Sonic fans are the physical embodiment of shame. You don't have it, yet you are it.
This game was my childhood - the replayability of this game is unmatched
Good lord...
The game was okay.
I love how this game makes you feel like the ultimate life form
But does it have the exaggerated swagger of a black hedgehog?
I like how he continues without a memory card because he knows he's going to finish it in one sitting
He does have a memory card. That message always shows up.
This game really makes you FEEL like a shadow....of your former self.
i like the main theme
Which modern game has 360 endings? Huh? Huh?
@@mikdan8813 326 only.
@@mikdan8813the game only has like 11 endings
Finally, the greatest masterpiece in the history of videogames getting some recognition. Thanks, Dunkey. 🙏
RIBAMAR GAMER????
@@djdanese Ribamar Gamer is everywhere. 😎👍
You can tell a lot of love, sweat and resources went into making this AAA masterpeeeece
3:21 What are the odds that Dunkey hasn’t seen the Shadow the Hedgehog real-time fan dub where Shadow actually becomes president.
at 3:36 i also think he says "i'm ryan" for one of the shadow clones, so i think he has seen it
HEAVY DOG
@@randomredshirt5274he says Brian and right after he follows it up with "Brian the dog" so it's the guy who got ran over on family guy
Perfect 7/10
True, compared to games today this is top tier
This game is my childhood, I loved. every part of it, there was a level where you were in a "digital" realm, the music was so good and the visuals blew my tiny 12 y/o brain
Digital Circuit and/or Mad Matrix do go hard when you get a gap in the gunfire to hear the music. Banger OST overall.
im getting to the age where the "old" games dunkey reviews are now from my childhood. thank you for reviewing this game that had 9 year old me on death grips while making me feel old in the process
The death grips energy bro❤
heading to the money store in shadow the hedgehog
this was the literal very first video game i ever played in my entire life and was my introduction to the genre
This game really makes you FEEL like OW THE EDGE
0:08 I still can’t get over Shadow’s pump-action assault rifle
Pump action rifles do exist - though none of them look like that.
such a masterpiece, this game is the pinnacle of the videogame industry
Black Doom, Who?
Are you talking about The Devil from The Bible or what?
2:02 foreshadowing to dunkey’s baby. cant believe shadow is having dunkey’s kid.
So edgy lol. Btw the song at 3:50 is "All Hail Shadow" and the one at the end credits is "Chosen One by Mona Lisa Overdrive" for anyone interested.
Shadow the Hedgehog is so cool, only a man such as Chris Pratt could truly capture his essence
so glad you chose to use the best ending music for the outro. The Chosen One has lived rent free in my head for almost 20 years now.
I remember playing this on the PS2 as a kid and being blown away by how badass and edgy Shadow was
This game really makes you feel like a hedgehog's shadow
It makes me feel like I'm the coldest
This game really makes you feel like a badass
The game was alright
It makes you feel like a Shadow of who you once were.
It makes you feel like you’re going straight to hell
This game makes you feel like a copy of Shadow the Hedgehog (2005)
"A dumb annoying teenager that thinks he is baddass"
Renting this from Blockbuster and being so shocked at what it was as a kid will always be a memory i cherish
imagine you're dunkey's daughter and you grow up to see this legacy left by your dad, truly an amazing feeling
It's like being Eminem's daughter.
Just like Ivo Robotnik
Okay but this was my favorite game growing up. They had a split screen option where u could fight eachother aswell. Me and my bro would do that all the time
Is it like Street Fighter, if the fighters had guns?
I own this game and vaguely remember playing it as a kid... Then trying it again years later and thinking it was really difficult lol
I know this game gets memed but I think it's overall a blast. I still think the multiple endings was handled in a cool way.
Glad to see shadow appreciators, like it for what it is, it’s quite hilarious, and surprisingly replayable
I like the ridiculous amount of content, from the multiple objectives to an impressive array of weapons (there was enough to make a youtube ranking video) to the hilarious 2V2 mode where you can play as mustard shadow and cyborg shadow
I remember playing this on my gamecube when I was about 9 or 10. There was a part where you just kind of wander around in the jeep and I got lost and never beat the game. Great game.
"This is like taking candy from a baby, 𝒘𝒉𝒊𝒄𝒉 𝒊𝒔 𝒇𝒊𝒏𝒆 𝒃𝒚 𝒎𝒆!"
I was half expecting the evil demon guy to start talking in a Boston accent to shadow, that series has given me brain rot
This game really makes me feel like no one can tell me what to do
These hedgehog type games are really starting to show their variety. 2023 has been such a great game for hedgehog games, i might buy a dreamcast soon.
Haha I remember loving this game as a kid. I did not remember the fact that you were able to just shoot people with guns but hey he´s Shadow the Hedgehog, no one tells him what to do. The one thing that will never be deleted from my memory is, "You know what they say, the mooore the merrier".
I love how Shadow takes the time to slow down and shoot people with guns. He's really a considerate guy
This really made me appreciate how good Ryan Michum's Shadow voice is
He's played by Jason Griffith in this game
@@drekiskrek5008 don't forget Jason also did Sonic.
@@drekiskrek5008 I mean that Ryan mitchum does a really good job imitating the voice for real time fandub
@kittyshippercavegirl Hearing both and I can tell a difference but not enough to care. Very impressive for sure
The SnapCube fandub team are all great and hilarious, but Penny's Sonic and Ryan's Shadow are especially scarily good at impressions.
Unironically such a great game. Loved it as a child
a certified dunk classic, i will add this to the list of videos i will watch quarterly for the remainder of my life on this world. thank you shadow, thank you dark souls
This game was made for ME. 8 years old and obsessed with shadow after adventure 2 battle.
I remember getting it for Christmas and loving every minute of it as a little kid who just thought anything involving shadow was fucking rad. They delivered to their target audience in spades. (Except that space mission with Maria, that sucked balls)
This game made me so edgy as a 2000's kid that I didn't look left or right when crossing the road
This is who I am!
This game introduced me to the concept of crossing my arms and ive been a miscreant ever since
I love watching a Dunkey marathon and going to his channel just to see a new upload
