    Thanks for saving me $40! CDN at my auto parts supplier! They had none of the 1K gloss but scads of the matte. Almost pulled the trigger lol. You're the man! Never steered me wrong so far.

    For a shimmering white color, try Gaianotes clear white over a large flake silver. It gives it a really cool white metallic look.

    Possible reason for some seeing the yellowing on the 1k, I decanted for airbrushing and the liquid came out of a brand new can as an amber color, looks like whiskey.

    Could you try the Dupl-color over the other spoons that just failed the test to see if it can correct the finishes that did fail? That would be a good test to see if it could fix other failures..

    They actually do make reusable 2k spraycans. I think the company is called Car-Rep. I have no idea how it works but you don't have to break the bottom of the can to activate the hardener.

      I've heard some questionable things about that particular brand. There's another brand on Amazon that does have the button on the bottom but you can freeze the can and keep it for 24-48 hours but still not as long as the Car-Rep, obviously.

    Thanks for the video. I actually have used the 1k clear in 4 models with good results that made me consider not to polish the car model after clear just I normally do with other clear spray cans like Tamyia TS13 that usually does require wet sanding and polishing. With the 1k it can be cosidered done. But I always go to polishing anyway and what I like is that 1k is strong enough to avoid over wet sanding until the paint layer like it sometimes happens with TS13 that it is softer than the 1k.
    The drawback of the 1k is that it takes time to fully cure and depends of the weather. It tooks 2 days during warm weather and I have experienced almost 4 days during cold weather. And if you try to recoat for better results before 48 hours and after 2 hours, there is a risk that the new application activate the previous layers not fully dried and ruin the entire model. It has happened to me, but it was my fault not readying the directions of the product before. 😱
    I have been using Tamyia spray cans and they work good with 1k. I have not tested with enamels or acryiic yet. I intended to use the Tamyia lacker but thanks for the advise not to use it.
    I do really like your reviews. Thanks.

    I got some dupli color gloss clear here in germany (it's called dupli-color aerosol art clear coat) that I use for alclad on my cosplay stuff, it never had any problem with the chrome, but I also decant it and spray it at ~15psi out of a PS-290, so that might make a significant difference

    You mentioned you are trying to find a sparkle clear. I've had good luck with Mod Podge Pearlized Spray Sealer. It works best over light colors and not over dark colors. Great white pearl effect over white primer.

    I'll stick with your 2k line of clears. I was working on a '40 Ford kit for my buddy who has one he shows. I bought a can of touch up from Express Paints using his color code. Tested it on a spoon over Mr. Surfacer 1500 and it was awesome, no issues. Sprayed it on the model car body and it attacked the plastic. I'm sticking with hobby/model paints.

    • @simpleanswer8954
      @simpleanswer8954 29 днів тому

      Always check the ingredients if possible. Lots of paints contain acetone, and they aren't good for any kind of model kit. I use Dupli-Color primer all the time, but I have to be sure to get the right primer/sealer as some of theirs also contain acetone. If you're ordering custom paint like that you could ask for a MSDF sheet and looks for any solvents listed. It's also helpful to pay attention to the type of plastic you're using. Not all solvents react the same. Enamel is great on styrene, but it will weaken ABS or other plastics.
      On the bright side, floor polish wouldn't have anything like acetone in it.

Have you partnered with a Canadian supplier so that we can purchase it up here? Or do you know if one of your current suppliers ships to Canada? As much as I love Alclad's gloss black, you and your hard work over the years have helped me so much, and I'd love to support you by buying your brand.

    I'm going to have to get some of that Duplicolor Clear. Since it worked well with everything else I'd assume it works equally well with Tamiya acrylics? I've had generally really good results with Tamiya's gloss spray in the can but occasionally it will attack decals. (If the kit didn't cost so much, it would have felt kind of humorous when I got some decal bubbling on the 1/6 Tamiya Honda Africa Twin's decals which were applied over Tamiya spray-can white and sealed with their own gloss clear! Luckily it was pretty minor but frustrating still.)

    • @sohchx
      @sohchx 10 місяців тому

      The key to spraying Tamiya over decals is to do very light mist coats with 15 minute intervals in between. Putting to much down at once or to often hastens the chemical reaction which in turn begins to affect the decals.

    Quick question, please. On these cans it does say to spray at a certain distance cause of the chemicals inside of the can that propel the paint and if it gets on your projects what happens is any form of a mess up like it might eat away at your piece your painting unless wood I think that doesn't apply to wood but other stuff they require you to spray at a distant to get the proper coating with I think is ok for the 1st cover but what about the 2nd coat? I have used other stuff and seen how the paint came out on a model car I had done where some paint might get crackly or too much overspray and the drips down on the edges which be for the overuse but I heard others talk about those horror stories so I see your up close and personal how does it affect your overall project
