I'm a tough dude. I fought in Iraq. I bluffed my way out of an armed robbery with 4 guys in Benton Harbor, Michigan in an empty parking lot at 1:00 AM. That said.... I would NEVER swim in any inland body of water in Florida. Alligators are everywhere! Sam has my profound respect. He's a bad ass! :)
Looks like a great trip Sam! I'm heading out this weekend for a little camping too at a swiftmud property . Weather should be perfect. Thanks for the great video
A vacation is a Vacation, you can rehydrate when its over is also my philosophy! Next yall will expect us to exercise and workout on Vacay too. NOPE! So yah PRIORITIES!😀🍻🍻✌🏻
I can truly appreciate what it takes to film these videos because you have to walk ahead, place the camera, walk back then walk toward the camera. You see I do understand what all it entails!! Thank you Sam!!!
From Florida as well, Bobcats and Gators no problem, Water Moccasins aka "Cottonmouth" those things are just mean little A$$HOLES. Now the mosquitoes are nothing to play with 🤣🤣🤣
Every body always mentions what you sead plus sharks but no one mentions what really kills the most people in the outdoor here in Florida s and that's lightning l
Florida hiking is unlike most other places. It seems to be cool but as soon as you start moving, you run out of water fast. I usually carry 3-5 liters depending on the distance I have to go. It’s an insane amount of weight but without it, I’m useless. Lots of electrolytes and water when I’m hiking Everglades is a national park but ocala national forest is a national park too. Not sure what the guidelines for filming are but our group “Florida Bushcraft” is in there almost every weekend and they film all the time. ONF is far better than Everglades in my humble opinion! And you were in one of the best places in the ONF. GREAT job man Also those are live oaks with Spanish moss. Chiggers love that stuff so don’t play too much it it
Oh by the way…I am a good ole country girl from southeast Texas. Use to camp by myself but now I’m 70 & just enjoy watching these videos because they’re so relaxing.❤
The big TV don’t be such a wuss just watch it. It’s not that good. I love Mr. bananas, but he still cooks the same thing dehydrated chili. It looks like something. A dog left on the side of the road but go ahead and wait till you get home to watch it on the big TV it’s gonna suck just as well on the big TV.
I cannot explain how much I admire you and the many others that camp solo..I’m not afraid of much but this just makes me uneasy.. it might because I have always camped in groups.
Finally catching up on some vids I missed. Dude this spot was INFINITELY better than my crappy Florida spot, what a gem! I commend you for having the eggs to swim in that body of water haha
Haha dude! Yeah a lot of people said that in the comments too. Only reason I did is because there was an older lady camped near me. I talked to her and she said she comes there all the time and there is never gators in there for some reason. I think they like murky water and not nice clear water like that.
Sam You are so brave!!❤ Just the bugs would have kept me away from Florida camping. Not to mention the 🐊 gators. Smiles! You are right. This is your life. Enjoy it!!❤ Lots of Love and Respect Always!❤
I lived in sw Florida for 35 years. Wouldnt catch me camping out there. Lived on a canal and had shell put down for yard. Never went out back. The gators lived there. After the 3rd big snake was on my lanai and in garage. I sold and moved back into town. Lol
Camped there many times! The trail continues to the south and is a bit longer and has more sugar sand, but it goes to the Juniper Springs Recreation area. The pond you were getting your water from is "Hidden Pond" and is spring fed, while the others are all ground water and are mostly stagnant and not good for drinking. Warmer times of the year, you will see ticks, pigmy rattlers and of course black bears around there. Never seen a gator at the pond, as it's pretty far from where they prefer to live. They've cleaned it up a lot since I was last there....there was more downed trees/logs around the campfire area that they removed. Even looks like they've mowed the grass in there, as the spot where you set up your tent usually is grassy. And the trees are Live Oaks. Great weekend hiking/camping spot that the Scouts use a lot in the cooler months.
Wow, I turned on my computer and you had just uploaded this video! I really enjoyed the birds and the crooked trees. Really liked the call those big birds made. I had to laugh when you were all dressed in black and had ash on your hands and face, like a navy seal on a mission! Great video as always. Thanks for uploading!
Me and my friends back in highschool would go canoe 🛶 camping trips, and 4 WD Trips we called swamping ,some of the best times back in the 70s and early 80s
I'm a new subscriber to your channel and I can tell you that I'm really enjoying it because of your honesty and keeping it real . You make mistakes and you don't hide it like most do . By far you are the best UA-cam camping channel out there . That location you picked ...beautiful . SC is going to be your next stop . You'll be in my neck of the woods . Looking forward to watching that one . Again Thank you for being you and stay safe out there . 😊
I loved this camping site. The water in the pond was crystal clear. I imagine it was spring fed. Florida is a beautiful state. A person could have a channel featuring it alone. I’d love to go back and spend some time there camping.
oh yeah. love ST Augustine. San Sabatian winery has my most favorite Port Wine. i do like the new tent. i'm so busy i haven't had time to camp, hike or kayak not one time this year so far. and i have purchaced some good gear starting with my Teton 75l explorer and my Hemlock Mountain outdoors hammock set up. see ya later brother.
I have been here 20 years , always especially, mosquitoes, forget about water moccasins, rattlesnake , coral, panthers, coyotes, wild boars , but we still , will always do it.
Heyy Sam you are brave I don't think I would be able to sleep down there, the animals and birds are beautiful, awesome aerial footage thanks for sharing stay safe 😊
Haha right on 🤣 luckily this was early enough in the year they weren't TOO bad on this trip. It's a busy popular location though. I literally shot it on Easter Sunday and there were three other people camping this same spot.
I will be riding the OTET from Cleveland to Cincinnati and back this summer. I'll think of you as I pass through. (I made a Short dedicated to your buddy Kevin when I rode through Rochester last year). Thanks for another great video.
Guessing that's a spring-fed pond? Great campsite. Also, know you were about to go crazy with that whippoorwill, those have kept me awake many camping nights.

I parked for the night in the Everglades once in my old box truck and I knew the one tail light bulb needed replaced and I said to hell with that until I get back to main land during the day!😂especially since it was pitch black there. I didn’t want to be a slim Jim snack for some alligator!🤣got great pics of Orion’s Belt for my ex girlfriend though with phone and she loved em lol.

I’m more afraid of the bacteria in the water than a gator
Read an article about a guy who made money scuba diving for golf balls in Florida. At night so he wouldn't get caught.
Looks like a great trip Sam! I'm heading out this weekend for a little camping too at a swiftmud property . Weather should be perfect. Thanks for the great video
Why? You’re a tough dude. The animals can sense that toughness and run away 😎🤣🤣🤣
"All the important gear", as he refills the banana flask. Priorities! Great video, Sam.

Open UA-cam. Lo and behold! Sam Bananas was right in my back yard over easter. Another great vid.
Love fishing and camping with the stars out and no people around. Beautiful sunrises for coffee ❤❤❤❤❤

When you see lots of moss on the trees it means that the oxygen levels are excellent there.❤
I didn't know that!
@@chillieboycampillanes1629 Hey 👋!
Yes , because moss gives off more oxygen then trees do .
