Love how at 4:50 when you pull the umbrella in front of you, how it concentrates all the sound forward. Before that, there's a ton of reflections because of the room. But the umbrella just takes the room out of the equation and bounces all your sound directly at your little zoom recorder.
I'm sure it's equally efficient with light.

Eff Yiew LOL... I hadn't noticed that. Good catch! :-)

+Eff Yiew Shows if it does that to the sound how it would amplify even more with light.

Hi, I was looking forward to see some shots taken with the PLM umbrella and the alien bee strobe. Do you have any? And if so, are the sample shots using only the one light source? Thanks! I enjoyed the video. "liked" it!

does this alienbees adapter come with the PLM umbrellas? Is it proprietary to mount on an Alienbees or is it just a speedring mount I could say adapt to Bowens? I really dislike many bowens umbrella mounts and this feels like a more secure solution.

Hi, thanks for posting an unboxing video. Do you happen to have any sample images? For what purposes are you using this umbrella?

I love the fiberglass ribs, they are strong and light, but I still break these umbrellas quite often on the cheap little hinges that the fiberglass ribs attach to in the middle... It sucks =(

I know it's an old video, but how do you close this thing? I can't seem to find the pin to push or make it close. Any hints? I called customer support and they just told me to find it there and close it. Any help is most appreciate it.

On the mark 02:44 you can see a clamp with a black handle. He is the one who folds the umbrella.

I can't find that mount on the Paul C Buff website and the umbrella track screw mount on my units are broken. Any idea where I can find this mount to fit a 7' parabolic or any size umbrella?

I just received my umbrella today. However, I measured it. And it didn't measure 86". Did you happen to measure your umbrella? Mine measured 71"

T-Rock No, I never measured mine. Is it possible you got the smaller size?

+luciana justice Umbrellas are usually measured from one edge, across the back of the umbrella, and on to the opposite edge.

It does take a bit of finessing, but I think it's just because it's SO BIG that it's a stretch to reach up through the spines. The quality, fit and finish is excellent.

+ArtoftheImage I have the 51" & 64" PLM and my only complaint is that tiny set screw in the tip of the umbrella!  I've lost 3 so far!!  You guys @ PCB have been great at replacing them, but there has to be a better design for this part!  I also have the AB B800 & the Einstein E640 along with multiple modifiers & can't say enough about just how happy I am with them!  I foresee at least another Einstein or 2 in my near future.  The Cyber Commander system rocks too!!!  Can you ship a fellow a few extra set screws for the tips as I am bound to lose more!! LOL!  Wouldn't mind seeing the prices come down a bit on the soft-boxes as well!  Thanks for producing such a great product line (especially the Einsteins!) at such reasonable prices...  The Einsteins are probably THE BEST VALUE for monolights going!!

I have a Godox Bracket that I use for my Yongnuo 560-III speedlights. The bracket has a traditional umbrella hole with the tighten screw on the side that grabs the umbrella rod. Would I be able to use the PLM with this?

    • @BillCominos
      @BillCominos 8 років тому

+Tony Jones As long as the umbrella holder is capable of holding a 8mm or smaller rod as the PLM uses an 8mm rod. I have the 51" & 64" and love them!

hi! I need ur help pleaseeee! pleaseeee...! i do newborn photography ONLY. Would u recommend me the Extreme Silver PLM or the Soft Silver PLM? its for Studio, photo shoots no more than 4persons {parents+siblings}. and... considering that I already have a Mettz BL-200 SB/UM 50-70, do u think a 8mm Umbrella Style Mount can fit my lighting system? I need help in order to know what to order... between the 7mm buff speedring or the 7mm Elinchrom Speedring or the 8mm Shaft. Thank u soooooo much 4 ur help! Gaby

I think it depends what light YOU like better. Have a look at the website, www.paulcbuff.com/plm.php, and read the descriptions of each as far as what light they produce. I would think you'd probably want the Soft Silver PLM, but it depends on what you have in mind for the look you want.
