My first car was a Mini and when i brought it this cassette was in the player, never took it out. The memories that flood in during this album is not for human consumption lol. Beautiful x
MILLE MERCI POUR CETTE MAGNIFIQUE, HISTORIQUE ET ONTOLOGIQUE VIDEO. LA NIVEAU TRÈS ÉLÉVEÉ DE COMPLICITÉ MUSICALE, NOUS ÉLÈVE AUX NUAGES COLORÉES...!!! DIRECTEMENT DE SALVADOR -BAHIA - BRASIL.
Wonderful! FYI regarding the Brubeck group, the two encores "Rotterdam Blues" and "Sweet Georgia Brown" were released on the Atlantic album We're All Together Again For the First Time.
For the Jimmy Smith group, there is the wrong line up in the description: Jimmy Smith 1971 7th Newport Jazz Festival, Doelen, Rotterdam, The Netherlands, October 31, 1971. Jimmy Smith Band, featuring Illinois Jacquet, James Moody - saxophones, Art Farmer - flugelhorn, Clark Terry - flugelhorn, Kenny Burrell - guitar, Roy Haynes - drums
I can not confirm the date, but the year is 1972, not 1971. There are also Mingus and Brubeck shows from Berlin 1972 from same tour (Newport in Europe) in youtube: Mingus: ua-cam.com/video/FBdExW_ux2E/v-deo.html Mingus Spain 1972: ua-cam.com/video/Pr-xPFXal1o/v-deo.html Brubeck: ua-cam.com/video/KWlBSXSjuyY/v-deo.html
Maaan, look at those fabulouse fuckers having the time of their lifes. Right there and many moments more after. We all gonna die, so choose wisely ;) This can be a reality!
I love this video but am confused because I thought the 7th festival was in 1960. I am guessing that they took the festival on tour around the world? The festival started in 1954, which would make 1960 the 7th, www.setlist.fm/festival/1960/newport-jazz-festival-1960-33d6085d.html I am currently listenng to the vinyl album from 1971, 'The Last Set at Newport,' which only mentions Paul Desmond as the writer of Take Five but not as a performer at the gig. The album is absolutely stunning and one of my favourites, talk about uplifting. But to see the smile on the face of Dave Brubeck in this video is brilliant too! Can anyone enlighten me?
"Clark Terry" on baritone saxophone"? Clark Terry plays the trumpet. Also, how doNOT INCLUDE the great JAMES MOODYy on alto saxophone in your description?
Good point - what is that tube and why is he using it? Is it a health issue? Is it a sly method of smoking some herb? 😄😉 "Pay no attention to the tube...it's all good everybody!" 😜

SO GOOD!!! Great musicians together for an outstanding performance... Thanks for sharing, this one made my day....
Dig Gerry gettin' down on the Desmond tune...Caught Mulligan at club in San Diego. I was station at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton.
Desmond and Mulligan were the best!
Kings of cool...miss you all so much.
Mulligan kills me with his blues licks, that encore Dave started was nuts!
