Temporarily fit the window without sealant and hold in with a couple of screws. Mask up around the frame, allowing a millimetre or so gap. Remove the window, add sealant and refit. Smooth the sealant down with a wet finger or sealant tool. Then peel the masking tape off and you'll get a neat, uniform finish.
Hey Will- just so you know for the future- Sikaflex is a Urethane Adhesive that sets within 24 hrs to a flexible sealant with 25% joint movement capability. what you have there is a DumDum sealant designed to never set. much older technology but just as good for sealing- never ever mix the two cos they wont stick to each other. I build and repair RVs and trailers. Oh and your music is awful lol.
Thank you, that was interesting, I would not have thought a window could be taken out that quick. I wondered about security on boats if it this easy to take a window out anyone could do it without making a noise like breaking a window. I would have thought that a couple of bolts with nuts on the inside would have been a better idea.
This is really useful. What happened to the rubber seal you removed before you unscrewed it? Did you put back again or just rely on the sikaflex? Thanks
Yes the seal covered the screws. The window was a pain to get out. We put it back for filming then took it out you know. It's not that easy. Cheers good luck.

Thank you that's a great tip. I was just filming my neighbour taking his window out.

Yeah I agree. To be honest they can just smash a window. A couple of rivets might be safer.
Great vid lads. Many thanks
Thankyou
You lent it to him & he borrowed it.
Baby wipes would be good to clean up.

Better the sealant being over filled then you know its filled properly and won't leak
Cheers for this 👍🏼
Any time!
that repetitive music is enough to give anyone a headache!
Why would you not top coat with the window out? Primer is porous and will rust again in no time.
He wanted to do it so I helped him.
Yes we have to have volume on high when speaking, then the music blasts have to mute
I think I need to get a micro phone. Thanks for the feedback guys.
Easy for a thief to get in
Took use ages to get the window off. We put it back on for the camera. I'd just smash it if I were a thief. Quicker.
