    I was looking through some old family photos today, and it dawned on me that it was a simpler, nicer time. No social media, or instant gratification of digital images and retaking if you're not happy. It was that that led me on a journey to go back in time and look for a film stock camera. I really like the look of this! I like how this will force you to think about lighting, framing, and getting the shot correct before wasting endless clicks. In turn, I think these could really make people better photographers! Great video!

    Out of the cameras of this class I've seen, aesthetically the Agfa is by far my favorite. I'll probably go with the Kodak M35 instead though, because the price is better.

    Good job on the photos & explanation on how to load the film! However, in 2022 the cost of film & processing has got so expensive. And some people might have to send their film away to get it processed. And almost any phone camera 2 mp & up would take photos at least as good as the Agfa. I think an interesting comparison would be to buy a $50 dollar phone test it against the Agfa.

    • @Bonsees

      Not a lot aside from the look. I came across some info that the M38 is supposed to have a brighter flash compared to the M35, but I can’t find any info if this brighter flash went into the new Ultra F9. I haven’t objectively tested the flash at all. Thanks for watching! 😊

    I love all of the photo quality. Personal question, if you'd recommend a few plastic reusable affordable cameras, what would they be? i have been doing some research, reading articles, watching videos of reusable cameras and I'm torn between AGFA and KODAK M35/M38. thank you for answering

    • @Bonsees
      @Bonsees  3 роки тому +7

      Both are good IMO (I treat the m35 and m38 to be the same since I don’t really care for the m38’s brighter flash). I made videos for all these cameras if you’re interested to see the image quality (spoiler: they’re pretty much the same). They all have the same build quality too, though the Agfa has better sounding gears (doesn’t mean much maybe). I think it boils down to which you prefer aesthetically speaking. Agfa is more retro looking while the M35 comes in pastel colours.

    • @Bonsees
      @Bonsees  Місяць тому

      Not stupid at all! Yes, you have to advance the wheel until it stops like you’re stuck. That just means the shutter is ready to fire and that film has moved fully to the new frame so you won’t get overlapping photos

    bought a AGFA after watching this video, the winding broke in two month, doesn't allow you to advance the film it just clicks and looses all tension, I got through about three reel before this issue happen.. Really disappointing didn't expect it to be that bad that it wouldn't function. Do not recomend purchasing, better opting for something a little more on the mid range that's mean more money although it would be more reliable, better build not from entirely plastic.

      Fair~ while mine is still working, I can definitely sympathize with the statement. There’s a reason these are dubbed “reusable disposables” after all. I still like using these because they give a different look and experience from my higher end cameras though

    • @Bonsees
      @Bonsees  3 місяці тому

      There’s not a lot of difference between Ultramax 400 and Lomo 400. Personally, I think the Lomo 400 looks a bit more neutral and has more brilliant blues, but that could be because of how the lab I go to scans the film. I’d say either film are pretty good so if you just need a cheap film, pick the cheaper one

      They’re all pretty much the same. I don’t have the filmneverdie so I don’t know about that one. The Agfa has the smoothest sounding gears ⚙️. The M38 is supposed to have a brighter flash, but I haven’t tested that 🤷🏻‍♂️ anyway, I usually suggest going for aesthetics, price, and how easily you can get one in your area 😅

    • @Bonsees

      The Kodak ektar H35 is a half-frame camera (it takes half the size of a 35mm frame) so you’ll end up with 72 smaller photos using a 36 exposure roll. So they’re different cameras. I guess it depends if you like to have more but smaller photos, then go with the Kodak ektar H35. if you want normal size photos, then go for this one.

      There’s a bit of a hack you can do. Once you take a photo, advance the film until the shutter cocks. then press the rewind button and rewind the film about 1 full and a half rotation of the film rewind crank.
