It's as simple as this... ALL DSP's reward artists for lead generation. If you're leveraging your social media following to generate leads (bring new and unique users to their platforms) for any DSP, especially Spotify, Spotify will inherently (algorithmically) promote your music to their existing user-base and share the profits (royalties) with you @ a 70/30 rate in your favor. So, as the artist, you'll make 100% of the royalties you're able to garner through lead generation AND another 70% of the royalties Spotify is able to generate for your music. That's only half the story though.
Do you think that advertising to Instagram (or preferred social media platform) is better than to Spotify? A stream on a song means nothing if you know nothing about that individual, my most loyal fans are from Instagram where I'm able to communicate with them
I liked the ability previously where you could compare your data against any other artist but seems like it was removed. Where did you get this data from please?
Pretty sure I know who this is -- pretty cool to see :> Kinda makes sense that programmed % is smaller for larger artists simply because, as you showed, they have WAY more fans gifting 6+ streams each. No amount of algorithmic coverage could possibly keep up with that rate of streaming.
I have no idea who this is but Im taking a guess from what your saying in the video and from my experience music history and business it would have to be a band and they got most of their fans from live touring. That is the only way I can see how they got so many spotify streams with out the strong push from spotify. Bands and tours always pulls in a large fan base.
It's a solo artist. I was just saying 'they' to avoid saying he/she. But still a good observation, they do indeed tour but I think most of their success is from other sources. They have multiple albums that have hit #1 on the Billboard 200.
@@AndrewSouthworth interesting , touring is the only side of the music business where your gaureenteed to make lots of money and you don;t need any hits , just a following. The only thing you have to deal with is crooked concert promoters and the stress of being on the road , ha ha
@@danielbanic3738but you need a * hit * or some of song that get traction to be able to gain follower and go on tour so what you saying doesn’t even make sense , and you can make a lot of money from streaming without having a hit anyway * you need to have a vaste calatogue
Ironically this artist does really good in the Philippines, I was at a regional festival where they had bands play, and a cover band of there work brought thousands of screaming young girls it was insane
I’ve done it before, he’s great and would highly recommend it. If nothing else I booked a consultation and had him show me how to set it up and what to look for. It’s super helpful
I ran a ad for what was supposed to be a month. It told me it was “high performing” I had the audience right and everything and it got a lot of link clicks but only led me to 7 streams after 2.5 weeks so I stopped running it. I basically paid $55 for 7 streams. 🤷🏻♂️
Maybe the programmed audience is a smaller % for the bigger artists because they "max out" programmed audience and have so many fans relative to that max
Looking at it now while in the last 28 days being 82 million streams total, 52 million active streams breaks into: - 14 million artist's profile and catalog - 36 million listener's own playlists and library - 2 million listener's queue I think this shows how important "listener's own playlists and library" is. They're mostly relying on fans listening to their stuff over and over again more than algorithmic or radio streams.
@@AndrewSouthworth Yea man! the key strat of the last 2-3 years was just running multiple aliases and doing playlists. works pretty well once the algorithm kicks in and it kinda starts to run on its own.
I was wondering why this artist would spend money on marketing with you while they already probably crushing it with organic content ? Thanks for the video btw , do you think you could one day have acces to the Spotify artist of Taylor Swift ? Or maybe The Weekend or drake
Forgot he/she even made music 😂. Anyways, music is becoming very segmented. Won't be many worldwide hits in the future. Streaming and social media have made the "fanbase" more important. Artists who coasted on radio and casual fans of a genre are slowly falling off. Your data supports this

Amen and Amen, God will answer your prayer!!!
Awww same it’s also me after I dropped my 5th song with no promotion 😇
Great video Andrew!!! It gives insight on what goes on with these big artists stats!! Thank you for the breakdown!
pretty crazy how we went from cd sales in the shop (20 years ago) random people to this! but great video as always :) thanx and happy new year !
Do you run promotion ad for artist??
FIRST love ya my man, keep slaying! 2025 is THAT year
Thanks man! Happy new year!

how many "listening now" ?
My record is 26. They probably more listening now then we get per year
I liked the ability previously where you could compare your data against any other artist but seems like it was removed. Where did you get this data from please?
It'd be more fun if you did a breakdown of their numbers and told at the end who it is tbh...
Or nic d
Impressive Talk Andrew.
Sydney and Brisbane are my number 1 and 2 as well, I never understood why
Interesting. Thank you Andrew!

you forgot to mention that ALL without exception major label artists are hitting their streams heavy
Question-- how do you get access to these majorly successful artists SFA accounts?
I was hired to run ad campaigns on releases featuring the artists, so they gave me access.
@ dope.
Not exposing who it is, but this artist definitely likes pink. Appreciate Andrew for sharing this with us
Wow, I wish I had at least 25K listeners to start with. But I guess my library is still too small. Or not? I'm still unknown anyway.
Aiming to gain 100k Monthly Listeners this year.
Anybody runs ads with Andrew ? I’m interested 🤔
how much does Andrew charge?
very good service, but I recommend nailing it on your own, it's cheaper.

It sounds like you were running a traffic ad and not a conversion campaign with a landing page and pixel.
@ although I don’t know what a pixel is or how to do that I did have it route to a landing page with the link to the song
No one got it Connor price doesn’t have 14.5 million streams

How ru accessing the spotify for artists of this artisy?
My agency ran ads on a release they were featured on.

How many song does this artist have ?
Thats a crazy per capita following in Australia compared to the US
I'm over 34 and not from the US, so I have no idea who the artist is😂
Okayyy 😊
damn I thought my 62 mil streams this year was good 😂 gotta step it up
