Factorio may look intimidating, but trust us it gets easy as you play it. You will eventually find yourself saying 'The Factory Must Grow', 'More Iron', 'Burn The Forest'.
Also react to the first video as it goes in more detail about the game without the mods.

I thought id have a hard time getting into it, but tbh i learned pretty quick that the game is only as complicated as you make it. I started off simple as heck before i got good at automating
Get autobuild and all you have to do is use the deconstruct tool on the forest and press shift+B and say bye bye to the forest

This game is called 'cracktorio' for a reason. First factory is free... you'll pay for the rest with all your time, your family and even your dog xD
It's really fun as a game loop though, it goes A makes B that makes C that is used in DEF and combined makes F/A=G....
It clicks together like lego's and makes your brain go on happy juice mode when you get it all to work.
Ahhh but you never get it all to work, theres always SOMETHING that can be improved. Even if that improvement means exponential growth.
Yeah, drugs have nothing on this game. It's harder to quit 'cracktorio' than the actual crack.
I do this with Techmodded Minecraft. It's _really_ fun.
You guys should create a youtube chicago plays, with the VODs of the streams, and some series perhaps; get the reactors to play different games

Biter expansion is an option that can be toggled on/off. That explains why they're spawning in the base.
Not correct. He is using some mods, and one of these adds different types of biters, one type of spitter spits smaller biters over a distance. I think it is called breeder biter. Later in the video you can see Martin get killed widening the "water wall", the green spitters spitting lots of biters on him. The biter expansion option in the game dont spawn bugs from nothing.
@@teseutressoldi3972 I'm aware of the NEE mod, but in vanilla, biters DO expand depending on how much pollution's being absorbed, and/or how many nests have been destroyed. It also depends on how much time has passed too. The more pollution is accumulated in a cell, which is a section of the generated map, the higher the chance a nest will spawn. It'll even get to a point where a normal freeplay session could turn into a deathworld run after a certain period of time.
Natural Evolution just ramps it up to 11. Also, I think you're mistaken with the green spitters for breeder biters. Breeders are blue, and both biters and spitters split into smaller versions upon death. Whereas only the spitter variants of the fast biters launch smaller units.

The building a whole new system thing can be done. When you need to expand iron production for example, you can make a new system on a different iron resource and turn it into a blueprint. You then just delete your old one (very quick, like 10 seconds) then place your new and improved iron system and the old one and voila.

YES! I am always super hyped to see Kelsey reacting to Martin or Sseth! I was really waiting for this one!
One thing about fixing a shit system instead of wiping it and restarting is that I work in IT as one of the Guys Who Know Stuff, particularly maintaining the dataflows between all of the institution's servers and systems. There's a lot of stuff going on in there that's inefficient and generally kinda sucks, but we can't just rip it out and restart because there's layers upon layers of things going on in there and most of the users are used to the interfaces they have to the scuffed as shit system. So we can't tear it down and start from scratch, we have to maintain the bullshit we inherited from people who didn't always know what they were doing and hope we can replace bad struts with good ones when we can find them on an individual basis.
To be fair to the game, the balancers that were causing the lag were from a mod, not part of the main game
It's not uncommon, I think, to have your operation and then upgrade and need to re-build or expand, so you just start from scratch elsewhere and either dismantle, blow up, or just abandon anything you don't need. I go for the dismantle option in Satisfactory, Dyson Sphere Program, and Hydroneer; I don't like Factorio's 2D limitations. DSP has an interesting solution to the verticality issue that Hydroneer - having enemies - could _really_ use.

The factorios combat is why i like it the constant threat of biters and with mods they can be set to be as difficult as you want.

The thing is, Kelsey explaining that she wouldn't want to reconfigure a system is super relatable. When I build a factory, I'm just happy if it even works halfway decently. Of course then my friend would pull it all down and put down a prefab they stole from someone else like a cheating scumbag!
