Thanks!!! It was informational to say the least. Excellent video. I can't wait to find one. The one I looked at hasn't been run in over ten years. Radiator is empty, oil looks like sludge, tires and bags are rotted and I'm sure all the rest of the rubber needs replaced. This looks easy enough.
I would be interested in learning how you acquired such a clean vehicle, and also the circumstances around you being able to work on it where it had been stored for many years prior to your purchase.
Based upon the work I have done on my GMC (which does NOT yet include dropping the tanks), Andrew's video appears to be an honest depiction of how the procedure is done. Additionally, the helpful tips (like the ratchet strap) are very helpful because, once again, in my experience tips like this can save lots of time and heartache when working on a 45+ year old GMC, especially when a lot of the specialized GMC Motorhome dealer tools and facilities are no longer available. I wanted to state my feelings about the honesty of Andrew's video because I have watched other videos allegedly done by "GMC Motorhome Experts" that give patently inaccurate (and very possibly dangerous) information to unknowing viewers. Thank you Andrew!!!
Thanks a bunch for making this - the pace is perfect - usually instructional videos go way too fast, leave stuff out and make too many assumptions - this was great
Andrew that was great video my rv is not a gmc I have ford allegro 1988 and I planing to replace sending unit and hoses got good ideas from your video thank 🎃
Thanks for the great video. I didn’t do my tanks and hoses myself last time but am going to attempt it in the not to distant future. It’s always great to see what to expect before hand. Keep up the great work.
Hey Andrew a piece of metal bar stock or leaf spring approximately 14" works good to slide into the Boggie arms instead of the ratchet strap to keep em from moving. Keep it on the Coach for later when changing a tire.
Thanks for starting this channel, I’m always eager to see how jobs on these coaches are done…tips tricks etc. I did my tanks earlier this year however, I need to drop the front one again because the sender stopped working. Love the ratchet strap idea. I look forward to more videos.
Guess I can't be your first Subscriber, Andrew, but I still get the mid-step on the podium. I have a 75 Eleganza ll that no doubt will require a lot of what's ahead for you and I've got lots to learn. Good luck with the channel!
Good luck! You will find these are fun to work on! I am a fleet mechanic (all GM trucks luckily!!) so it comes to me a little easier. Like I said in the video... whats the rush?! Never be afraid to take a break or walk away til a new day comes.
Hi Andrew I know this has nothing to do with fuel tanks I am currently travelling on Vancouver island had to drop the auxiliary tank on this trip so thanks for this video Now I have a new problem , my starter took out some teeth on the ringgear and I am looking for a repair shop in the Pacific Northwest that can replace the ring gear any recommendations? I can get the motorhome started by moving the crank with my socket and bar
awesome video.. question.. how high did you have the frame of your coach to do this? I'm going to tackle this but my space is limited.. I might make some ramps to drive the coach up on and do this all from the passenger side.. I have no space on the drivers side..
I have the jack stands, all 6, at their lowest height. I will be making a video soon about the proper way to jack up the coach. Do you not have enough room to swing the jack handle? I did not have room on driver side either actually, about 3 feet. I used a jack adapter from APPLIED GMC and a JET brand 5 ton bottle jack to raise up that side with the limited access. Worked pretty good! You only need the coach high enough to lay under. The tanks themselves are very shallow and easy to slide out. Thank you for the reply Trent!
@@AndrewsGMC I have 3 inches on the right hand side.. LOL.. It's up against the retaining wall.. It's in the carport in which on the passenger side I have 3 inches to the concrete steps.. So if I have ramps.. I can get all the way under to the other side.. but I can't move in from the drivers.. no way.. for me to do it myself it's this or nothing..
Great video, just discovered a huge fuel leak on the pressure side of my fuel pump since I am on the road I crawled under it and managed to repair it I drove a few miles and stopped on an uphill slope to check if the leak was gone when I discovered another leak coming from the top of the front fuel tank I figured it must be from either the sending unit or the vent hose dropping the tank seems the only option It seems as long as I don’t fill the tanks right up no leak Currently on Vancouver island and planning to cross into Washington state if anyone can help with a recommendation of a shop please let me know
Vendors like APPLIED GMC can get you brand new ones. If you just need to move the coach consider hooking up a fuel tank for a boats outboard engine to the Coachs mechanical fuel pump (just to get you down the road)
Best video for how-to drop the GMC motorhome gas tanks. Thank you. Just removed both tanks on my "76 23'.
nice job presenting the process Andrew. thanks
Thank you sir! It’s not that bad of a job
most informative!! Ethanol issue alone is worth the hassle and much needef upgrade.
thanks!!!
Glad it helped!

I have heard about that! I need to grab one next time Im at the pick n pull. For now I am making do with what I have at this garage (not my place)
Nice floor too, oak? Nicer than concrete to work on

WOW, on a wood floor!
The best! I might make a cool little history video about this shop soon. It was originally built as a Buick Dealership in the early 40's
Absolutely fantastic! Great work technique!

Hi Andrew. Thanks for this video. Are you in Seattle? Cheers. David.
