    It would have been nice if you actually did it for real so people can actually see the step by step process

    I have a student who is making a clay sculpture portrait of a male with a beard. I’m going to get him to try this with it!

    The weirdest way to do a face reveal-

    For the full face cast, I'm guessing you did each portion of your face with the alginate separately and put those pieces together for this?

    Can you do this with an existing mustache? Like removing one and saving it from one’s face?

    Great video. The tutorial I am looking for. Saw some 4.5 oz latex in amazon. Would that be enough for a beard? The lace you mentioned is between the first 2 and last 2 latex layers, if I understood that correctly? But how will you make the crepe beard hold on to the latex? Once it is removed. Do you use spirit gum to apply the latex to the face again? Thanks

      @SpecialFxNerds  7 років тому +3

      yes, you don't even have to apply so many layers of latex it all depends on how much beard ur applying. Its just for durability reasons. You attach the crepe wool to the fresh latex. Yes use spirit gum to apply it. And if you can I would suggest creating the beard on a face cast and applying it to ur face when its finished.

    how do you stick it to your face? do i have to create the "mould" or i can do it directly on my face?

    • @SpecialFxNerds
      @SpecialFxNerds  7 років тому +1

      you can use spirit gum to glue it to your face or you can try to apply it directly to your face but i can't promise that you can reuse it than.

    very useful and amazing video. I've been directly applying glue and fake hair to my face for some months, I'll try this method. thank you so much for posting this video.

    Okay, this may be stupid. I understand that you are putting cloth over the face mould and then putting liquid latex on top of the cloth, so the liquid latex doesn't stick to the mould. But if you have cloth underneath will spirit gum still work, with the cloth there, when you're attaching the beard to your face? If not how are you attaching the beard so it's wearable?

    • @SpecialFxNerds
      @SpecialFxNerds  8 років тому +3

      Hey, actually the cloth is not supposed to keep the latex from sticking to the mould. Its supposed to strengthen your beard. You start with one or two layers of liquid latex on the mould, than you add the cloth, cover it with another one or two layers of latex and than you start adding the "hair".
      The cloth is only supposed to prevent the beard from ripping easily.

      SpecialFx Nerds Okay, thank you for replying, but I'm going to have to trouble you again (sorry xD). Does the liquid latex come off easily? Or does it stick- if so how do you prevent that from happening? x

    • @SpecialFxNerds
      @SpecialFxNerds  8 років тому +2

      No problem. :D No it does´t really stick to the mold. If you let it dry completely it should come of pretty easy.

      @@SpecialFxNerdsAbout the alginate for the face cast. Are you supposed to do that part in portions before you actually make the full face mould?

    What happens with the brown coloured latex at the end of the video? Do you remove it with a pair of scissors?

    • @SpecialFxNerds
      @SpecialFxNerds  8 років тому

      you can but you don't have to.Its some excess so it sticks better to your skin.

      also dont forget makeup can be used to recolor the latex if your going for something elaborate!
