  • Bill Lear with his genius & drive propelled the business jet industry from the 1960's into the 21st Century. The mission of Classic Lear Jet Foundation is to...
Restore - Restore the first ever production Lear Jet delivered to a customer.
Connect - Keep the story alive of the jet that started an industry by preserving this legendary piece of aviation history.
Educate - Educate students of all ages in the process and the story of how the Lear Jet aircraft was born, and how the Foundation's centerpiece, Lear Jet Serial number 23-003 is being restored to flying condition.
But this effort goes beyond the restoration of 23-003 because Bill Lear's genius and drive propelled the business jet industry from the 1960's into the 21st century and beyond.
Our project, is of course, a tribute to Bill Lear and to all the employees of Lear Jet who made it happen. But the restoration of 23-003 is for the preservation of this piece of aviation history in general and for the entire business jet industry specifically. It is for every pilot, engineer, mechanic, flight attendant and every other person whose passion and dedication has contributed to the growth of the business jet industry.
You too can be a part of Classic Lear Jet Foundation's mission by contributing your time, talent, and dollars to see 23-003 fly again. For information on how to contribute contact us at info@classiclear.org and on our website at ClassicLear.org.

The Lear 23 design was based on a _Swiss_ fighter.

I trained in and flew N745F, serial 23-077. The Lear experience on my resume was a big help in my career. Nice to see 003 getting restored.

What a awesome aircraft the Learjet 23 would have been to fly or to be trained on it. I only wished that now in 2024 a brand new second generation LJ 23 with the same design but with lighter, fuel efficient and more powerful fadec turbofan engines, a total revamped interior to 21st century standards and a full garmin avionics suite to complement would be manufactured.

Proud to say I used to fuel that a/c when it would fly into Lane at CMH. Clay was always a gentleman.

The gravel deflector on the nose wheel brings back old memories. This was before the chine tire. (1:59)

Have nearly 2800 hours in 35,31,55 & 60 Lears over an 11 year period. I cherish every minute in that cramped cockpit! (Well, the 35 and 31 at least). Ask any Lear guy the old joke about how can you tell who's the Captain and who's the F/O in a Lear?!?!?! I miss them.

Those models had luxury cockpits compared to the 23s and 24s.

That airplane sat outside at BOW a lot longer than 12 years. It was N3BL best I recall, not N200Y.

I obtained a Learjet 24 that has been hangared for about 5 years. It should be flyable again. Can anyone here recommend a person/company that could help make it airworthy again? My channel has some videos of it. Thanks!
