The show Vikings introduced me to Wardruna and I'm so happy because of it. In my family on my moms fathers side, we are literally half English and half Danish while on her mothers side we are half Irish and half Norwegian and every time I listen to Einar or Wardruna, it's like a portal to my ancestors and ancestral homelands.

"A lot of people tend to confuse Ragnarok with with the Christian term Armageddon, which means The End of the World.
But that is not the case here because, in the old Norse way of thinking, everything moved in cycles. So, it's basically telling the story of a reign that ends but also a reign that begins.
So, something needs to die, something else to live. So in these days when the sun is turning, that is what is about, to let die what needs to die.
Let die stuff that you don't need to carry around anymore, to make room for new stuff."

Actually more accurately the true meaning of Armageddon is the same. Because the end is always the beginning of something else. Check out mythologist Michael Meades writings.
Earth based cycles are where we live...life and death and all the cycles and polarity are our human experience.

I know only the very basics about Edda or Norse poetry, but Skaldic poetry actually differs from Eddic poetry in style and times of composition. While some Poetic Edda verses contain Skaldic elements, they are often recognized as written at later date. Not that it matters here or anywhere. It's the internet. And I like the sound of my own voice.

What he says about Ragnarok is all true. Many believe it is like the christian armageddon, but it's only the birth of a new better world where fields no longer needs sowing. Two people will survive, and from them a whole new and better man kind will emerge. Gods will die. Thor's son Magne will take Thor's hammer and his place etc. Read it!

Oh dear, I have bought my books ages ago.
You find Heimskringla, the story from All father walked til Snorri died. Two books heimskringla and the bible, you would always find these two books in any nork home.
heimskringla.no got a lot of material, but I'm afraid it's only in original form and other nordic dialects(only anglo missing, as this is also been classified as a scand dialect).
I would actually go for buying a translation of the books, like the eddas, heimskringla is online, there is many refs to dif rites etc here, though it's mostly about the Kings from Harald the first til Snorri died.
Must reads is are Eigill Skallagrimson saga, Njáls saga, eyrbyggjasaga, landnåms saga, laxdæla saga.. .you'll get hooked. The kvads and dråpas, you must read Hávamál, that's online in anglo.
      www.pitt.edu/~dash/havamal.html
      org:
      www.heimskringla.no/wiki/H%C3%A1vam%C3%A1l
      one of my favorite dråpas.
      www.heimskringla.no/wiki/H%C3%A1konarm%C3%A1l
The last heathen king and earl, Håkon Lade jarl.
I'm amazed that so many people are into this now btw.
If you learn icelandic, all the raw material will be there for you. Lot's get lost in translation. Hope I helped some

But don't worry about it, it's a long time til Ragnarok, the fimbul winter will come first and that's thousands of years away. Don't you get it? The cycle? Everything freezes, brother kill brother, no food..... Then it starts over again..... It's the iceage as far as I see it. Now who picked up All fathers items? You can find this c'mon

As a student of history...How can I not love this? My ancestors were Germanic tribesmen from northern Europe who shared a common pantheon with the Germanic vikings. While the Persians were building their first magnificent empire mine were still tribesmen running the lakes and woods to the beat of an ancient hymn all but lost to the civilized Persians and Greeks... Over the generations since then to now in an unbroken line the song has become fainter and fainter and yet I hear echoes of that ancient hymn in this song and I am reminded again of what was and still could be.

Is this some kind of automatic translation?
I believe the following translation is more accurate:
      [1]:
"For silence I ask all the holy children, great and small sons of Heimdallr; wilt thou, that I, Valfather! well recount ancient history of men, the first I remember.
      [57]:
The sun darkens, earth in ocean sinks, from heaven trembles bright stars; the raging reek with age to linger, plays load heat with heaven itself.
      (45):
Brothers may fight and fell each other, may sisters' sons kinship stain; (…)

      [58] / (44):
Barks now Garmr load before Gnipahelli, the leash may break, and Freki then runs.
      (59):
(…)waterfalls descending, eagle flying over, she from mountains captures fish.

Hungarian translation from a book called Bernáth István - Skandináv mitológia (2005)
    Völuspá (A jósnő szava)
    1. Szólni szeretnék,
    szent istensarjak,
    Heimdall-fiaknak
    fiatalja, vénje.
    Úgy akartad, Hadúr,
    öntsem újra szóba
    ősi múltnak
    őrzött üzenetét.
    57. Feketül a napfény,
    föld merül a vízbe,
    fénye csillagoknak
    elfakul az égen,
    párasugár csap fel,
    félelmes lángoszlop,
    iszonyú hőség
    hatol az égig.
    45. Testvér tör testvérre,
    eltiporják egymást,
    rokonságot rokon
    ront szanaszét.
    47. Még áll, de már inog
    Yggdrasil, a kőris,
    lombja nyög és sír,
    hogy Loki elszabadult.
    58. Vonyít Garm veszettül
    Gnipahellir-kőnél:
    béklyója felpattan
    szabadul a Farkas.
    59. Vízesés dörög,
    sas suhan fölé,
    szikláról röppenve
    száll ki halászni.
    64. Lát ott egy csarnokot,
    csillogóbb a Napnál,
    nemes arany fedi,
    neve Gimlé:
    élni abban fognak
    érdemes emberek,
    örömöt élvezők
    örökétig.

It’s a dream for me to see and HEAR Wardruna in person!!! Einar is talking… WHY IS EVERYONE TALKING????? 😳🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️
He’s sharing wisdom. Every song is a labor of truth-seeking and spirituality.

I've never heard a voice like Einar's. A rare voice that can speak to your soul. No need to comment about the deep knowledge and wisdom of his words..

    5:32
    "Skelfr Yggdrasils askr standandi,
ymr it aldna tré, en jötunn losnar;"
Something about this particular verse is so beautiful to me. You can just feel the emotion in his voice after he sings that last word.
