I love the story Tony told us live when he was going to do the song, in Paris. Once he went in a bar (in Finland, I think), and on the wall, over a piano, it was written : "NO TALLULAH". He told the crowd : "That's the greatest compliment someone has ever given me !"
Just heard this song for the first time tonight. I am a 26 year male and I was brought to absolute tears (sobbing) about 1 minute into this song - when I stopped what I was doing (studying) and listened to the lyrics. I got a rush of chills, as I look down at my arms goosebumps plucking up the hair on my arm. Listening to it a third time tonight - I feel tears start to well up in my eyes - I still get chills. I can't describe how touching this song is to me. I can't think of a song that has resonated with with me to this level. Its so incredibly sad and touching. I have never had a serious girlfriend but for whatever reason this song speaks to me and I do not know why. People have said that "music speaks to to their soul" and I never really understood that until now. Until tonight.
same brother , this song in particular along the piano notes , made me break down in tears... after getting back talking to my ex gf , after a week i realised she's dating someone ... i wrote her that i would want the best for her and that she better focus on what she have now and that we should not be talking . it's been couple days since and i guess she made up her mind . word by word this song hits me deep . :(
This is truly why I think Power Metal is the greatest sub-genre & truly one of the most diverse in music today. When they wanna be sad, they're sad. When they wanna be happy, they're happy. When they wanna be 180+bpm in your fucking face blinding tempos, they are. Ranging from themes of love, death, playfulness, modesty.. seriously, *HOW AND WHY IS THIS MUSIC STILL SO OVERLOOKED IN TODAY'S WORLD*!!!
+DantheHobnob actually, i think that is more a blessing then a curse. I belive it appeal to a serten crowd, and thats part of the magic. Id hate to see it go mainstream, as i identify whit it
I must say, there is nothing wrong with this becoming mainstream if it ever will. It's still the same awesome music that we all hear and to be honest, I'd rather this be mainstream than what kind of music is considered mainstream at this point in time. But yes, I can agree that it is nice that a small audience can get together and enjoy good music :)
+DantheHobnob The way I see it, music is not all about music, sadly. In today's society, "mainstream music" is popular because of the social depth it has: people want to be socially active, they want to communicate in many way, they want to have a link to others. Mix this with the sick sexual and social role models we have today, and we get Nicki Minaj, Justin Bieber and all of those other horrid "artists". I myself have found that almost every kind of music is appealing if I have a positive first impression on it, or if it fits my "musical ideals" (the way I want to experience music, the kind of music with what I identify myself). For example, I listen a lot of game music, J-pop, J-rock and classical music, mostly because that's part of who I am, while in truth, I could honestly listen to all kinds of different genres and bands (like this one band here).
My cousin (the youngest of the 4) showed me this song like 15 years ago, then a few days ago I found that his elder brother (2nd youngest) showed the song to him and the 3 youngest showed the song to the 2nd, and I pretend to follow the chain
"it´s easier to live alone than fear the time it´s over", that´s deep and very emotional, and the intersting thing is that depending on how you look at the lyrics you may get the feeling that it´s not only something about a date but also a relative that you love.
278 people were trying to hit "Like", but they had their eyes full of tears and couldn't see well the screen.. (I'm taking in serious consideration the idea to call my daughter Tallulah.)
Sonata Arctica was the first metal band i listened to. For 2 years, I was only listening to them and I tried something else, like folk metal and just other metal bands. I think that only 2 bands can just blow my mind and Sonata Arctica is the first. Wintersun is the second but their discography isn't enought devlopped. I can listen to them 24/7. Thank you Tony Kakko
A fucking awesome and epic ballad, one of the best ballads ever, this song reminds me of the amazing time I had while living in Finland...Finland rocks!!
Always been a fan of Sonata Arctica, ever since I first got into metal as a 12 year old. I had never imagined one of my favorite songs of theirs would hit SO close to home.
One of the few songs that randomly makes me cry just because of the lyrics, the music. Very few. How can he sing it... so sadly... with so much feel...? Damn, got something in my eye.
When i broke up with my girlfriend, i heard this song in my mind, i was huggin her whe she was waiting for the bus to go home, and then i started crying, thinking "please, stay just like that and don't look back" After she left, i started crying and singing the chorus. We are still friends and i still love her, at least i can share new happy moments with her, but it isn't the same. thanks for reading this (if you did) and don't kill me because of my english :)
"I lost my patience once, so do you punish me now " This line makes special emotion on me... sometimes when we realise some crap things we do, it's already to late. She has moved away :S... we just have to keep moving
All my teenage angst about being overall undesirable and all my infatuations being hopelessly unrequited... Man, this brings me back. Nothing much has changed, and yet everything has. Thanks Sonata Arctica.
Definately one of my favorite ballads in rock music, next to wind of change from the scorpions, november rain by guns n roses and ozzys mama im coming home
The first song i learned to play on the piano. Listening to Sonata Arctica since junior high 13 years now and they announced that they finally come to greece in 5 months ! Bought my tickets first day of sale ... can't believe i'll hear this song live . I have been to other concerts but that will be special ! Thank you Sonata for all those years can't wait to finally hear you !
Damn it, why do you need to make me cry all of the time, Sonata Arctica? I guess it is your uncanny ability to capture the frequent tragedy that is involved with living truly.
I'm not going to tell my sad story here (basically replace "drummer" with "guitarist" in this song and you have it). Instead, I will say this. Tony Kakko has a unique ability to tap into the nature of heartbreak and pain. Through his songs, he has been a part of the healing process for myself and surely many others. I love my heavy thrash metal, but Sonata will always have a place with me. So thank you Tony, for your beautiful music, and for making heartbreak a little bit easier to cope with
First love, he left me for another girl, "I see you walking hand in hand, with long-haired drummer of the band" exactly what happend to me... This song always reminds me of it. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR PUTTING THIS HERE!!
December 2022 I still love this song. A sweet guy I met in an mIRC Lord of the Rings chatroom back around 2008 told me about this song so I looked it up and I fell in love with it. Thank you again "Eldarion." Wherever you are I hope you're safe and doing great. 😘💕💯

I listened to this song at work when my relationship with my ex-boyfriend was about to end. We had a turbulent relationship, we didn’t want the same thing in our relationship(he wanted to enjoy life before settling down, and I wanted to enjoy life while settling down) etc... especially since he was in love with someone else, and I was just a replacement... When he broke up with me, I related to this song. A few weeks after I met my current boyfriend in school, and today we have a son together. Sure, things have been tough. But what I’m trying to say is that true love awaits for you who have been heartbroken. I promise☝🏻❤️
Sounds like the song helped you really open your heart, and it was safe to do so with him as he respected your feelings. If you open your heart to other people you are sure will respect these precious parts of you, I feel they will understand you too :) It sounds like you shared something really beautiful.
Broke up with my 2+1/2 year girlfriend two months ago. She asked me to listen to this song as a "last favor". This is the first time I managed to gather courage to listen to it again ever since.
Man, there's something magical in power metal... Especially in so heart touching ballads... I'm sure most of the sensitive man have gone through this dark path of the lyrical hero in this song. So sad...
When this came out, I was having my first love. She didn't love me, and I had to walk away. It was my worst day. This song after 22 years still bring tears into my eyes.

you just CAN'T hate that piano. Simply amazing, epic melody & harmony specially at the lick that happens some times in the song, being the 1st one at 0:31. I love the more I hear it ^^
When i had to end my first relationship with my first love after four years, she posted this song for me on messenger. I didn't understand it until years later that she wanted me back so bad :/ i started to suffer from skitsofrenia and it was reflecting to my babe. One of my hardest decisions i have had to make 😪
I see that you gave them another chance, that's great ! And I totally agree with you about the way the feelings are communicated ! And don't worry about the Metal Code, in the end you respected it Metal Brother !!! (It sounds totally badass XD )

NEVER ever understood how this ballad could be the most popular of this band while we have a breathtaking song like Shamandalie which plays in its own league.
Stefan Elmgren's solo in the Fallen One is the best solo in this cathegory, but I really like this one as he keep playing those high pitch notes until the last chorus. Goosebumps :)

It's a great song. I remember listening to it as a 19 year old guy after a breakup in 2003, it was quite something then, touched deep.
It really touches when you've watched the lyrics play out. For this reason there will be a "Tallulah" character in my writing.
This song always makes me tear up, you're not alone.

Very powerful indeed my friend, mines is " don't even dare to say you hi still swallowing the goodbye
