It's cute that he doesn't want to ball up. It shows he genuinely doesn't feel threatened by you.
That's nice to see.
Not ballin, because there is no cost 😊
Thank you for teaching me how to hold my spiky floof
Floof
Were you able to take your hedgie?
I see why sonic was a hedgehog. This little dude is fast af!
01:40 Oh my God! The reaction is so cute
I'm so jealous of you having a hog that come to you by itself.. my hog is so shy to come to me, even I tried to scoop it, it ran away from me, I'm so demotivated. I just got it for a week. I will try harder..
How is it now?
How is your hedgehog now?
Hedgehogs are really shy and sometimes it takes months to have their confidence, how are you now?

I just got a 6 month old hedgehog and he was the pet shop’s favourite. The pet shop was a really good one and someone would spend 5 minutes handling each hedgehog every morning before opening and we got the most tame and gentle one. However when we bought him home he went from the active and loveable boy we saw in the shop to a spikey, hissing ball of rage. Of a night he will get out of his little bowl and eat and drink but as soon as I go to put in more food he shrinks into a ball. It’s only been 2 days but I’m just feeling really discouraged. I am not gonna give up on him of course not, all of our other pets were rescued and quite mentally scarred and we didn’t give up on them and they’re fine now, but it just feels harder when this pet actually has the power to spike you 😂
Mel Pritch that always is to be expected because they’re in a new habitat with new smells. How’d things work out for you?
because hedgehogs are all stupid, the most stupid mammals in the world
I can tell he wants that fishy clam 🐟 lmaoooooo
You can visualize him saying “no I’m not afraid, nothing is scary” when he does not want to be in his ball form.
Here in the uk we are lucky to have wild hedgehogs although sadly there numbers have plummeted since the 1950s due to habitat lose & more roads being built which many sadly perish on trying to cross but there's thousands of us around the county doing what we can to help these awesome little creatures by making our gardens hedgehog friendly, getting hedgehog houses & putting out food & water for them.
I remember carrying 2 into my room sneaking them in, pet them and watch them roam around the Room. When they did get a bit too defensive I’d usually just grab the whole body even when curled up into a ball and try not to pove around much just to not let the spikes sink in my flesh.
Basically just holding a very spiky ball, but aimt heavy enough to pierce the skin.
To keep an hedgehog in captivity is
SINful
Aww their so cute!! We need to save these critters at all costs
But, hear me out, what if the cost is a cute little rabbit?
Save as in get them a mate and release them in a safe park with less predators that they can manage with
@@frankartanis1290 Hedgehogs are better - they're adorable little pest controllers, whereas rabbits are adorable little pests.
@@Neion8I think all animals except certain humans deserve to be saved
@@user-in1yw9ty5t It should be noted that you should not do this with that particular breed of hedghog unless you live in southern Africa as you'll either be introducing an invasive species or they will freeze themselves death
Aw, adorable little prickly nugget ❤
Mine for some reason is blue, is super fast and talks and wears red shoes. Someone help me plz
Did you try feeding it hotdogs with Chili?
Original
Sonic?.....
Mine is black and red, he wears white and red shoes. And is always angry
Umm...did u adopt sonic..
I'm going to get a hedgehog and I shall name him.. S-
Eggman.
Yes, hold the kitchen knife by the handle, please.
How to safely hold a hedgehog:
Step 1: get a hedgehog who doesn't want to kill you.
Step 2: gz.
Sounds like you just got back from a run or something
I have a hedgehog…got her yesterday.I tried not to wear gloves but oh baby…there is no way to describe it without saying ouch if you are holding them.I hope it gets easier ❤️
Tails would be proud!
it looks like he actively has to resist the ball shape
Oh by my sweet Oakley hedgehog is 7 weeks old are she is a big bundle of joy she is quilling right now and still lives being held
Eggman's watch history be like
This is going to be useful knowledge one day.
It was the “anyways happy holding” for me 😂 i bought one a month ago off impulse just got him today.. and wow... they can be spikey if they want 😂 thats why i named him spike lee
Thank you so much! Now I can do it to my hedgehog I'm kinda scared to hold him but now you show me not anymore!
I’m going to get a hedgehog soon so this video really helped me properly learn to practice holding one
Damn, take a minute to breathe
i just got a hedgie boi a few days ago, and well, its going great! he is really friendly to me and new people
Fun Fact - At 1:45 it was actually the Hedgehog who kissed ! ☺️
He's so cute : )
What a cute little creature)))
Thanks for sharing. I'd like to add that it helps when you scoop them up from the back. Hedgehogs tend to get defensive when you approach facing them or try to pat their heads.
nutbrittle NOOOO! Please do not spread false advice. Hedgehogs are naturally prey animals meaning they are naturally quite timid/ skittish and alert so scooping them from the back kicks in there prey instincts to panic, hiss, pop , spike etc. Please pick them up from the side, not the front though as they like to not have there sight/ sense of smell hindered and if you hand is is front of there face it will hinder there senses. So PLEASE PICK UP YOUR HEDGIE FROM THE ***SIDE**
Hey I have a hedgehog I don’t think it’s a good idea to scoop them but I had to do that to put him in his cage also yess u can’t pet their heads cause most hedges are totally blind adding a defense of spikes helps them know that not much will hurt them
How would you tame a hedgehog that is tempered and defensive at an older age? I got mine without knowledge of her being with 3 breeders that didn't treat her with affection. I've had her for 2 months, and she's getting better, however is there any way to help make her less defensive at this age? She's 1 and 4 months now.
The fur on your shoes match your pog!
☠MrHairyNutz☠ Lol but OMG!
I just got mine. its been like 4 or 5 days maybe, I know thats short. But how do I flip him on his back? In the video you described it as "iconic". Ive tried but he seems to not like it, idk if I'm doing it wrong. also, if I flip him on his back won't his spikes get really sharp? please answer :) have a good one. thank you!
A Danger Mouse.
Ok so I have had my hedgehog for a little over 2months and the last owner never cared for him so I’m left to deal with a super grumpy hedgehog who hisses at everything ughhhhh
Sissy Forte how is he now?
Hey I just wanted to say that ik that u are going to grow on ur channel I am sure and also rn I am so happy cause I holed my hedge for the 1st time!!
Held*
Oh my gosh congrats! I know I’m late.
I just got the hedgehog and I named Murphy and sometimes I call it murph. This video helped me so so much.
can I paint mine blue or does it make them uncomfortable or hurt them
He is super cute im adopting two girls that will be about 3 months old. They are litter mates. Thanks for putting this up gives me a good idea how to hold. My soon to be my little girls were raised and hand tamed. Though I know with different owners they maybe afraid of me till they get used to me. Do you haves any ideas on how to bond. I Will check out your taming video. Didn't know if everything I need to know is in the video. I have been doing my own research BUT everyone has there own methods.
With mine, if I find he’s getting to far, I’ll put my index and thumb in an arch on the ground and more often than not, he’ll go right through, so the spikes will be in the right direction and it won’t hurt at all even if he’s mad
Wow thanks!!👍 . Now j can get one and hold it how you told me!!💖👍❤
i've had to pick a few hedgehogs that got stuck in my garden somehow, the dogs always finds them she never did anything to any of them just a lot of barking so i know when theres one, i've picked many and the spikes are really a non issue they're not very sharp at all but maybe it depends on the specie i'm from europe, taking them barehanded hurts a bit but it really wont pierce the skin i'm much more worried about them biting me cause they always are really nonchallant about it, they dont really have a flee reaction so they just peek out a lot where you hold them
They're pretty cute.
I usually only see them on the road in pancake form :(
IS REAL SONIC!!!!!!!!!
I've found that a fork is adequate
The cutest mlem I have ever seen! 0:02!
I'm a hedgehog butler, too.🦔💓💓
thanks! it helps!
Why do you sound like you're in a rush lmao. Great video btw
why am i here, i dont even have a hedgehog
Can you help me how to tame my hedgehog? ive got him last Monday and ill try to pick him up on a second day but he start pooping at me ㅠㅠ ive already put my shirt that ive been used for day but still no reaction ㅠㅠ what should i do? thank you, love you videos
1:00 What was it digging for? 😏
I used to have a hedgehog🦔 when I was little
You sound so stressed, hope your okay!😂😂
Are the spines just uncomfortable, or can they penetrate your skin even with regular light handling? I wish I had one. I had a mean hamster once that "ran away" into a random hole in our drywall.
If they have the quills straight out then they can penetrate the skin but it hurts less than a bee sting. More like a tiny splinter. When the quills are even slightly bent they usually fold into down and don't hurt.
It’s a criminal offence to even touch a hedgehog in the UK.
Really ?? O:
@@laurentiusmcmxcvyep, it's the last hanging offence we have left.
@@morrigen3 damm
Yes, they are wild, enadangered animals. They are also absolutely crawling with lice and ticks. Wild hedgehogs are very cute but like any other animal in their natural habitat, you shouldn't touch them
Really? Or does that only apply if your name is Dr Eggman/Robotnik?
I love ouch mouses
Hi I got a hedgehog and im slowly trying to pick her up but I've only had her a week how would I get her to trust me Mary
i just got a hedgehog and i call him my little hogdog
use a bbq meat clamp to pick it
Meanwhile, Hibari:...
On my way to work I saw a hedgehog in the street. He didn't run away which I was surprised, and maybe I shouldn't have but I picked him up. He seemed really relaxed and didn't go into a ball he let me stroke him or her lol. It seemed odd that it was just wondering around the street like that. Does this mean he was tame? Hopefully he wasn't an escaped pet. I placed him in a grassy area with bushes and left him. It was like 4am maybe he was just sleepy. It just seemed odd he didn't run away or act afraid when picked up. Is this usual for a wild hedgehog? He seemed very tame.
Lmao he was def tamed
So for some reason I went to your channel and it said you have no content but I’m watching this...
My hedgehog is 1 n a half I have kind of given up on taminv him st all hrs so vicious I need help
Mine isn’t a baby she’s 6 months old and I have held her everyday for two weeks will it get better?
I just got a male and when I go to pick him up he puffs up. Is that normal and what do I do to get him comfortable with me?
Oliv just came home 2 weeks ago she is not shy at all. Rarely goes in a ball
Aw what a cutie! So is your hedgie 😉
Dosent those spikes have venom?
I've never owned one, I don't think I ever will.. I just think there cute hehe
Question: can I dye a hedgehog blue without causing it any physical/chemical damage?
i would probably not try to put chemicals any where near him
No dont different scents will hurt them
@@willskordos5709Agreed, especially after he nearly drowned in that pink stuff in Chemical Plant Zone
I can’t tell if my hedgehog trust me, He always squirming in my hands trying to run away and when he gets mad he bites me, I want to let him down but there is so many places for her to hide and never get her back
She probably bit you because she smelled something tasty on your hands. When hedgehogs are mad they usually just raise their quills up and start hissing at you. They may even roll up into a ball.
Be careful picking up wild hedgehogs. The dangerous parts arent the spines but the lice and other things they have on them. Use rose garden gloves and keep them outside, or disinfect them afterwards if possible.
When im angry my spikes hurt
The heghog is cute
It don't work for mine his spikes are near his stomach so it still hurts the people we got h from said he was tamed but he isn't it hurts to pick him up but I really want to hold him I have had him for two months now and he still don't like me,when I get home from school he is the first thing I go to but he still don't like me if u think u can help pls leave a comment or something I really need help with him
My Hog : *Chomp*
Just got a hedgehog for free cuz my moms friend had to move and couldn’t keep him, his name is hedwick and he’s white, I love him and he’s adorable.
im going to get my Hedgehog in April 26
I mean, it's cute and all. And i see you teach people how to tame them. But no one is asking if you should tame them.
They are wild animals. Why not just leave them be and be free?
I wanna know if I’m allowed to have a hedgehog in Texas?
My hedgehog hiss at me XD
I just got a hedgehog today but I cat hold him he’s so spiked even on the bottom any tips or anything?
Ooohhh so sweet☺️🥹
I just got my hedgehog 3 days ago and I have been trying to reach out to him and her but they get all spikey whenever I attempt to touch them :(( I wil try harder thooo
I have a wild hedgie - she was too small to survive the winter - I hope to release her in spring, so I don't try to tame her.
But.
This "grab from the side" thing doesn't work, since she just pushes her side to the ground and ooops, you have to deal with the spikes ))
I'm getting one next year
Their quills are actually kind of soft...
I've found absolutelly wild 55 gram hoglet and fed him with syringe. He is very tame and walks straight to me whenever he sees me. Now when I'm writing this comment he is running around and sniffing my toes. Will return him back to the nature in much safe place when it is time. I think if you love your animal you will get love back. If you will be pocking him for fun and watch him hiss, he would hate you.
i wonder what would happen if a i pick it up and throw it at the wall
I just got my hedgehog today.
Can we get a followup on "How to squish a headgehogs."?
as someone who identifies as a hedgehog, I wish someone could lift my 70kg self up with one hand
I just got a hedgehog and he likes to nip at my fingers but won’t relax his quotes either
Mine won’t come out of his bag (it has a soft bag he or she likes to sleep in)
My hedgehog would start bending over her spikes any direction I use to get to her underbelly. Maybe explain how to work that out please?
My hedgehog is really mean to me and bites me if I try lift him but if my mum lifts him he’s fine but he’s 1 years old and about 4-5 months so I think it’s to late to try to tame him🥺
