JCool mini ratchet - www.aliexpress...
Yeah. The DL30 is an attractive multi tool option for all purposes. Even the outdoors if you had the appropriate saw blade in for wood that can live with the tool in the closed position.
I bought the Diablo blades and cut them down to fit
7llL ratchet will work with it and gives you the option of 1/4” bits and Leatherman’s flat bits. Since it works with any 1/4” bit holder.
Definitely! It's really nice to have these options available, and it really is useful in a pinch!
the first thing i did was get the klein for my dl30 but i have been looking for a ratch was thinking of useing a 711l but but now i think im going to get that jcool thanks for the share.
You're welcome!
@@hvacbudget8600 done, just wish ally did not take so long.
The j cool is 8 bits plus the angled ratchet. You have to tap on your hands to get the last 2
There is a tiny one with 4 bits and a lipstick one with 5 minus the ratchet.
This is slippery slope where you mod the multi tool to replace the actual tools and you defeat its purpose. Its not supposed to replace your dedicated tool.
Btw, there are two versions of the Klein 7-in-1 with different sizes on the two larger sockets and they just came out with a 9-in-1 that seems to be exclusive at Lowe’s.
Interesting info! Thanks!
How much leverage will that bit holder take being used as a ratchet driver?
I recently did a short video discussing this a bit after your interesting question. I personally try to be careful not to overstress my tools, while stile treating them as tools and not just display pieces. I feel like for smaller fasteners these ratchets are very handy.
Awesome mods...I got the clip and the blades
Thanks! Sounds great!
Good video! The DL30 & other offerings will give LM a run for it's money...
Ist original leatherman clip?
I am really close to getting one of these and have been going through your videos about it. How are the cutters and pliers working out after months of use? Cut much heavy wire with them?
They work good. Check out my wire cutting video on the Arc where the DL30 holds up and the $230 Arc's cutters fail.
@@hvacbudget8600 I just searched for that video. Turns out I watched it 2 weeks ago before I knew what the DL30 was! I had been so focused on the big name brands like Leatherman, SOG, and Gerber that I forgot hearing the DL30 being mentioned. With Leathers attitude over the years and both SOG and Gerber having parts made outside of the US, I am more open to the idea of clones now. Videos from you and Maxlvledc have been great for sorting through all the options. Keep up the good work.
What kind of metal or steel is the handle? Want to get my son’s initials engraved on it.
Would it be possibe to add the leatherman surge pocket clip to the dl30? It is sold for 8 euros here, so if compatible it vould be a real upgrade.
Unfortunately depending how you look at it, The DL30 is not enough of a copy for Leatherman's pocket clip to work on it.
@@hvacbudget8600how to find your clip?
Excellent multool, and I think that Leatherman surge it is a highly overpriced!
Why to spend 150$+ for the brand!
I deeply recommendet Daicampimg 30!
I really like this tool!
Yes the leatherman surge is overpriced, but at the end of the day it's better than the copies.
@@billybunter3753 Well yes generally speaking it is true, but it is not better by far !
I have daicamping 30 and and i can say that some parts of this tool are even better than the surge, for example scissors!
But in the end of the day Leatherman have long tradition behind, but for me it is still overpriced!
cool❤❤
Thanks!
I wouldn't trust the adhesive tape to hold my multitool on a clip. I'd much rather scuff and sand the surfaces, wipe them with alcohol and then JB weld the clip to the multitool.
Outstanding ideas!
I have been using the Nite Ize Pocket Clip on my device for the last month. It’s working out very well! The clip makes the tool much more useful / easier to carry!
Thanks!
Ok. I took your advice about the husky 37 bit screwdriver. Absolutely awesome idea. Now this. Guess im heading back to home depot. Thanks for the info and ideas. They have been truly helpful with work.
Oh and just a little fyi, the bit extension from the multi force works great with the dl30.
Glad to help! Good tip about the multi force extension. I'd forgotten I had that as well.
@@hvacbudget8600how would this Klein tool fit in an old mini-mag pouch?
@@edwardslider6427 Not sure if the pouch would be tall or long enough but it might work.
When i put the nite-ize on my Surge i put 3 small zipties to keep it pressed on the handle.
Good tip!
if you had a spiked wood drillbit, you could use that as an auger for bushcraft, at least small pegs anyway
Good idea!
You can find wooden drillbits with 1/4 inch hex shank
