I have both of these. I started with the Numark DJ2Go Touch. Great little controller but one thing had me buy the Hercules. The Numark’s headphone amplifier is very noisy. Having used both I like the Hercules much better.
The headphone amplifier isn’t whisper quiet but much better.
The Hercules has a bass filter to mix tracks. Doing this on the screen is possible but quite cumbersome. The trade off is not being able to load tracks from the unit. I wish they’d have squeezed it in there but loading tracks is less of an issue than manipulating a filter.
The light though gimmicky is actually kind of fun and functional. At default it pulses red to the first beat and blue for the rest which is nice to help you keep track. You can turn it off with a quick double button press.
Both good little controllers and very capable for the size. If the Hercules had a split headphone option since many using this won’t actually be playing through speakers and headphones and had a way to load tracks this thing would be perfect.
The Hercules Starlight is pretty great, well worth the price for a portable controller. The knobs, faders and jog wheels have a nice feel to them. Very solid for in relation to the weight of the controller, which is lightweight, maybe less than a pound. It's definitely handy to dig through music before gigs, without a large setout.

I would say the Hercules Starlight. The fader is still the original with no bleed at all. The Numark fader went bad a long time ago.

On the DjGO2 you can only scratch when the track is not in play mode(paused) can you scratch on Hercules when the track is playing?

Quick question, I'm only seeing Serato DJ Lite versions of this unit. Is there a Serato DJ or DJ Pro version or upgrade?
Yes. I only use them on the Pro version. Lite was way to limited

samrothstein2 If you’re just going to play music and you really need is the start stop pitch control you should be able to stream music fine with lite. I don’t see why the Lite software would affect the audio streaming but if you want to do more advanced stuff with effects and things on the controller you would need to go Pro. You should try a test Periscope video. Limit it’s audience just to you or maybe a buddy just to see how it comes out before you actually go out and play it to the world. Hope this helps and you get tons of views.
Bro how did u do that motor stop (slow to stop) toward the end. I cant get it to work, it just stops dead when i hit the ply.
I've already tried the dj2go2 touch and I promise you that this controller beats the numark

Do the volume knobs function as a channel faders like in regular size controllers? or are they just gain knobs? Can I mix using them instead of using crossfader?
Yes they function as faders.It's actually what I use to mix house music.

Do you know how to adjust tempo range from +/-8% ???? I cant find any instructions on how to adjust it, only that it can either be +/- 8, 16, or 50. Serato website says tempo range is based on connected hardware. Pls help!!
You can only do 8% on the starlight unfortunately
so are you saying that the pitch control limitation of 8% is only on the hardware? Even though it is only 8%, can I still lower the pitch even further within Serato on the laptop that the controller is hooked up to? thanks.
MM888 yes you can only adjust the pitch range to 16% and 50% in the Serato DJ Pro software in internal mode. At that point you can only use the on screen pitch fader. I hope this helps. Let me know how you fair.

I have a MacBook Pro connect to a focusrite scarlett 2i4, with a pair of KRK studio monitor. Would that be just a connection to my MacBook Pro via a usb?
James L Manley Jr the starlight ‘s USB hooks directly into your MacBook USB not the Scarlett. Then if you want your mix to going into whatever your DAW software you should be able to pick the controller as an audio in. The other way is to hook into the Scarlett directly from the audio out of the Starlight. One more way requires two laptops. One for the starlight and Serato. Then from the audio out of the starlight into the Scarlett inputs that’s plugged into the second laptop that’s connected to the KRK

I haven’t heard anything. Only that the inpulse 500 is now available in a limited gold version.
It does have effects the knob under the level knob is high pass low pass when you push the white led on top

Unfortunately there’s no browse knob and load buttons. You would have to drag and drop from your laptop trackpad or with a mouse. I use the shortcut method myself. Which is hold down SHIFT while holding down the left < or right > arrows on the bottom right of the keyboard. Left arrow being Left deck and right arrow being Right deck respectively. Let me know how you fare.
How can i use serato dj pro with this controller?
+Ramecesse Raymond If you don’t have it already, you purchase a license from the serato dj pro website. It’s on Version 2.4.2 now. Then it’s just plug and play.
Serato lite is a joke. You can’t make use of the Starlights full capability with it.
Hercules Controller is very good, but minijack connection is very bad. Light touch of the connector leads to noise in the speakers. I try different cables, but problem is inside controller. I very unhappy with it. Anyone have the same trouble?
Ivan Gribenyuk sorry to hear about the mini-jack. I personally haven’t had any issues with it. Maybe yours has factory quality control issue. Happened to me with the pioneer S9 mixer. It always gave me trouble but most people swear by it.
On the Numark DJ2go2 Touch, the "pad mode" button is the shift button and will release the sync. The Numark wins on the browse knob and smaller size, because you can place the controller on your laptop mouse pad and not touch the laptop ever. None of these Hercules features matters when you're just prepping crates on the plane. Nobody is playing a real set on either of these. This is a travel crate prep tool at best. If you want a beginner controller spend $10 more and get the Hercules Impulse 200 with tone control and browse knob and learn on that.

It’s really basic. It’s just really play, stop and pitch control. All of the good stuff is in the paid version of course.
Only thing I didn’t like is the volume is low on this unit had to turn gains all the way up

I think you need to refer to this DJ for scratching capabilities of both of these controllers: ua-cam.com/video/gHJqPgRMqek/v-deo.html and ua-cam.com/video/7nYOikkP5q4/v-deo.html : Both controllers (Hercules and Numark) can scratch and transform... But you can "Browse" with Numark. As far as issues stated in the video, etc......seems a non issue with this DJ.

idjchance I was looking at the Hercules starlight and the numark dj2go2 and its a majority press and play but I will scratch occasionally and use effects but not a lot the students mainly press play and will attempt to learn more techniques. So maybe something good for starter djs wanting to have fun but not make any money of playing gigs.
I also like to tweek the settings use effects and stuff like that

What app do I use to get started
The Hercules starlight comes with Serato DJ Lite software. To make the most out of what it can do though you need to upgrade to a Serato DJ Pro license.
Does it work with Apple Music ?
Not for streaming. Serato DJ will stream with Tidal, Beatlink Link, Beatsource Link, SoundCloud. You can import your mp3 & aiff music files and playlists that you already have in your Apple Music though. I hope that helps.
what type of speakers can i buy for the starlight?
Since it has a 1/8 inch output you can really plug them into any speakers with the right cable. I personally go from a 1/8” stereo male to dual XLR male.

Terence Djtee I use “Shift” key at the same time I press the left or right keys. The L And R are which platter you’re loading the track to. I only use MacBook Pros. So I’m unsure how to do it on another type of laptop.
@@idjchance I use win 7 , to much work .. when you have very little time to find a song im going to find another mini controller with load buttons.. and I work with VDJ.. .. your missing a lot , with the load buttons.. I don't like serrano as you have to load all those songs .. in it.. and count on crates !! it can't play the song unless it was loaded.. to much time, when VDJ plays right from the Hard drive right from the folders.. you name it.. I know, alot of Djs love it.. and use it.. I just don't like it .. thanks
Terence Djtee I completely understand want to do less work wherever possible. The Numark Partmix, Mixtrack , Hercules DJcontrol Vision and Pioneer WeGo 3 & 4 all use VDJ and have load buttons. Compact too. If you can find a used Hercules Instinct that has it as well. Best of luck on your search. Let me know how it turns out.

No. Serato DJ Pro supports streaming of Tidal, Beatport, Beatsource and SoundCloud with your streaming services subscription.
Do you know if you can fully midi map this with Rekordbox? Also can you browse, load tracks like you can with the NuMark? Love the features and need something small and portable like this, but I don't use Serato.
I honestly don’t know if it’s possible. I’ve never used rekordbox. I only use serato pro

Coming up this week. As far as the Starlight definitely not club ready. The Numark Dj2go2 is slightly there however that 1/8 plug for sound is a big worry since it doesn’t stay in all that well. But Ive used it for small bars and backyard. 50 people kind of parties

Luis Perez Id recommend the Pioneer Ddj SR due to its xlr and booth outputs although it’s $700. However I have seen quite a few opening Djs at clubs using the Pioneer SB 2 and 3 and at $250 I think a better especially since many bar “club” venues don’t have a booth monitor to begin with or high quality sound systems.

Lynnée Denise no unfortunately the Numark is the same. There’s no record button. You have to press record in the record tab of serato pro
25:00 ... oh thank god. those damn lights make everythig look cheap - even them auto sound to light dmx lights can look pretty tacky in the wrong hands, nothing as nauseating as some random colours dizzily flashing and fading
