You can also bring a cat or dog along to pet out there. I did that last time I *tried* to kill the dragon. I re-spec'ed to get a little more bow damage & a little two-handed, but I want to try this all-in one-handed version next & see how it goes. I never had enough extra points for the extra stomach, but foregoing the archer side should make up for it, even though there is one nice perk up there that gives a bonus to several stats.
@@jonathanhowe42 you absolutely can bring a pet, but with a shrine to fast-travel there from your home base, there's really no reason to. And, yes, I am HUGE fan of the extra stomach slot perk. No matter what class I'm playing, I think it's well worth it.
@@bigkidBAM During my many failed attempts I died a lot, so I was trying to save as much time as I could. Thankfully the dog didn't mind the cold or being hungry. They should probably make that a requirement for the buff in the future.
@@jonathanhowe42 well, I hope my guides give you a better way to take that big bugger down! I'm currently working on my mage build guide that utterly RUINS the Dragon. But as long as you have his phases and the timing down, you'll win no matter what class you're playing.
@@bigkidBAM Yeah, I was running/flying around like crazy before & running out of stamina, so knowing the moves to look for is helpful. A friend said she cheesed it a bit sitting on the nearby mountain & spammed magic to just do dmg w/ no stun (and thus no extra birds to kill). And FWIW I nerded out & captured all the dmg you did & it seems the dragon has about 100K HP .
I did trash against the dragon with my sword and board. I beat it.. but it took entirely too long. I want to try your 2 handed build next. Those numbers were unreal
@@GES1985 TBH, even I was a bit surprised by the damage I got with the 2-handed build! And I could probably min-max it more (I'm still missing 7 skill points!) and try for full backstab crits to get 8k numbers or more. My best time so far is under 2 minutes for the Dragon (average about 3), but if you can get super-lucky with it, I'm sure it could be under 1 minute! A lot REALLY depends on the type of damage from your weapons, paired with buffs to that element and damage type in your skill tree, with a bit of raw luck of where the dragon falls when stunned.
