I shared this video with my sister who celebrated her 60th birthday in isolation. Close to you is part of her karaoke repertoire. Thank you Jamie Drake and the musicians.
I got so excited only me and my twin flame who is in heaven since 2016 get this excited about old music like we found a song we haven't heard in a while. Hahaha. We're old souls. But yes this is a true Gem. Oh my lady you did it such justice. I felt it in my heart chakra. It made me excited with a feeling of warm love energy. Needless to say breathtakingly beautiful your spirit with the song I felt and noticed it all ! Thank you truly! Loved it and it's saved on my playlist now. 💋💞
That's what I IMMEDIATELY thought when I saw her, PLUS the face: her features & slender length and cheekbones, the voice, the timbre AND the slow, easy, languidly "Karen-Esque" singing style...of course, there is only ONE Karen Carpenter and we will NEVER see another😭...but this woman certainly takes us back to yesteryear - I'm sure it wasn't intended, but imitation is indeed the sincerest form of flattery. RiP Karen 😢💔💯😇🥰👸🧚♂️🎉❤👏🤗
Yes, the Carpenters are linked with this song. But as I remembered that the Carpenters version was a cover. I went on the net and found out yes and no. Songfacts.com - ... Burt Bacharach and Hal David. It was originally released as the B-side of "Blue Guitar" by Richard Chamberlain in 1963. ... (then) ... Dusty Springfield ... on her album Where Am I Going?. ..... (but) Richard Carpenter said of recording this song: "He (Herb Alpert) just gave me a lead sheet, and he said, 'I have a recording of this, but I don't want you to hear it. I don't want anything to influence what I may come up with. Just keep, at the end of the first bridge, two piano quintuplets.' That record, that song, the arrangement, all of it, is misleading to the uninitiated, because it sounds simple. And it's anything but simple."
It was great, but I'll leave this channel from now on, I don't want to make anyone uncomfortable. But I don't think we aren't even. As we should be. Sounds great. I hope this channel blows up soon. I hope you'll respect those unappreciated musicians who were just recording themselves in a room with a cellphone and made amazing recordings. All I'm saying. And don't target.
Nope. Karen Carpenter's voice had a warmth that I prefer to this artist's interpretation. Still love this channel. Instrumentals, as usual, are spot-on.
Meh 🤷🏼♀️ She uses too much air pressure for me, she kinda looks like she’s straining. It’s such a peaceful song. Not feelin it. Mandolin yes Arrangements yes Vocals: meh
Wow.. Just wow..

She even reminds me of Karen Carpenter. It's kind of eerie but I really love this.

I prefer the subdued whistling. She can carry a note so beautifully.
Gosh thanks for saying that - I thought I could have done better. :)

This is an outstanding performance! One tiny, tiny thing: Maybe consider not whistling during the mandolin solo?
Marge Simpson liked this video

I get you. Still is great music none-the-less.
Vocalist focused on technique...ok, but maybe should let emotions take the lead....which is what this song requires mostly...
Cher is that you?
Those high notes are hurting her..
Meh 🤷🏼♀️

Mandolin yes

I thought it was Celine Dion. 🤣
Is she Trying to look like Karen?
Yes.
She is my cousin's daughter and she has always looked like this. She does not imitate anyone. She doesn't have to!
